Those little knobs you touched on either side in the boot are the catchers for the boot tray when you lift it up, so the floor stays up. Also, the parcel tray fits under the floor which is nice.

The english is perfectly fine. Blinkers are an english word for indicators, those blinking orange things that let others know if you're turning left or right.
