  • This is more of a lead-follow than a real track battle, but I hope the commentary will show the pros and cons of no aero versus too much rear downforce. The key is balance!

    Your skill is really improving! S2K is hard to drive quickly. A wang is a good next step!

    I like the idea behind this kind of comparison, but if you guys took it a step further and had the same driver put down a hot lap in each car I think it would really start to get into a more objective analysis. Also different tires can make a huge difference in lap times. Running the same tire would have been good if possible or perhaps swapping the wheels from one car and mounting them on the other? As much as the feedback on how it feels is a good starting point, you'll soon find that feelings aren't enough to really tune the car.

    Maybe leave the words on the screen a little longer. I'm taking in the visuals too long I guess =) Great video though.

    I'm liking all the s2000 track videos! Been a while since I've been out to buttonwillow with my s2k. Would be fun to run with you guys since I'm at about the same pace. You running the speedventures s2k challenge?

    I, personally, wouldn't add a wing without a splitter. I don't think I would enjoy the imbalance that comes with just a wing.

      Just built a lexan spoiler on my nc miata and it understeers everywhere for any turn around 65-70 and up. It's at about a 30 degree angle for reference. You're definitely right, you need to balance the front and the rear otherwise understeer takes over.

    I'm at Buttonwillow in a friend's square, non-aero S2K (mine is in the shop). I definitely experienced the twitchiness on high speed turns, which is why I'm here! Do you recall what your speed was around Sunset and Phil Hill? I've been slowly creeping up but haven't yet exceeded 90 miles an hour. Seems like a really gnarly place to spin out

      Wish I could remember but it's been ages since I've been to Buttonwillow. Just keep slowly working your speed up and always be ready to catch oversteer! Non-aero square is pretty loose.

    Hondas everywhere, even a crx it seems.
    I'm sure once you get control of that oversteer you'll get some more confidence and even better lap times! Whether you go the wing/splitter route, or wider tires and camber, etc etc. just have to find the method that works best for you

    No in-video comments on the extra drag the wing seems to produce, noticeable on a lot of the straights where the unwinged S seems to be pulling away until the next corner.

      Agreed. The wing produces extra drag sacrificing the high speed acceleration to favor the corners. A smooth underbody front-to-back with a properly angled rear diffuser would produce a great amount of downforce while reducing drag quite a bit.

    Thank you for review! I love S2000 and I hope one day I will buy it))
    But I don't understand why Honda many-many years don't make cool cars (S2000 included). I thing that the best time for next generation S2000 was 2016-2018. For what the Honda marketing mens and CEOs take a money? Maybe they are working for BMW and Porsche?...

    Lol i just noticed, do you have one of those big Japanese Mirrors that go over the original rear view mirror?

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  7 років тому +2
