- During the 1970's these amazing colour films provided a break in between the test card and the television trade information. It provided a chance to view some of the best freely available colour films then available. This mixed range of footage was often 'sponsored' as an indirect form of advertising, but these informative, usually beautifully shot colour movie features were indeed classics in their own right. Great photography, the pictures often speak for themselves.
Filmed in black and white, the film takes us to the famous Isle of Man, Motor Cycle T.T. races. Get the flavour of sport reporting 1950 style with some interesting views across this beautiful British Island, situated in the middle of the Irish Sea.
Made by the Shell Film Unit.
Location - Isle of Man
Produced with the cooperation of the Auto-cycle Union.

...GOD BLESS THE ISLE OF MAN!
I used to live in Santon, and my office was in Ramsey, and on a nice day, I took my Rickman Bonneville to my work, and over a period of ten years, I can't imagine how many laps of the TT circuit I have done, and it still thrills me to watch the Maestro Geoff Duke in his prime on a Norton.
A "who's who" of the greatest racing years!
Fantastic movie, Northern Ireland’s Joe Craig Norton guru, the greats of racing were all there!
Good movie
Absolutely a wonderful period in road racing. 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Loved it.
What a fantastic find.
Fantastic Jayne, that brought back many memories, I loved it, thank you so much.
What a gem!
Brilliant film
This is amazing to look back at how things were a long time ago Geoff Duke was some rider
Completely compelling
Great Stuff !
Wonderful Jayne, you keep pulling these gems out of your hat!
Wonderful document
How Cool Is This!?! I Wonder How Much The Course Has Changed In 74 Years & I'd Give Anything To Go There! Thank You For Sharing.
i used to love the trade test transmission films. the ones i remember best are the powerboat race round the isle of wight and the one about the evoluon science museum in holland
Marilyn is quite right! I don't know HOW you do it, Jayne, just KEEP doing it!! More appreciation from sunny Florida...
The riders wiping their noses after finishing. Full faced helmets have brought some comfort at least
Oh the glory days of Norton start of a golden age of motorcycle racing that lasted to 1957 when all the major manufacturers pulled out leaving MV to dominate the larger classes until Honda ascendancy in the mid sixties with Mike Hailwood and Jim Redman.
I have a question. When did they stop the two at a time start? And were each pair matched so they would be racing each other on the road, or unmatched so they didn't?
Norton. Is that the same engine Steve Hislop won in 1992 race against Foggy. Incredible film, i love the TT 🏁🏍
No cocoa tent for post practice debriefings anymore 😂
No, it will be some horrific energy drink now!
Fabulous film, Jayne. How did you get a hold of it? Wish I could share it and, of course, credit you as the owner. Wonderful film. How the scenery and racing has changed over the years. Best wishes.
The Cocoa Tent...
Remember the Hot Chocolate Tent
Dad took me during early morning practice
I can smell the grass and taste the hot chocolate as I write this
Big Surtees fan as a young boy
Road racing gone in southern Ireland. Will probably go soon in northern Ireland. The TT will be a thing of the past too unfortunately if the powers that be have their way.😢
