Finding out someone else's "why", what motivates them, and what's important to them, is finding their higher values in the situation and partnering with them on achieving that as a joint venture with our own aims. Damon has always taught me the importance of finding others' values and even what they value about their identity. Ps Tonality unconsciously communicates the intention behind our words. If you really believe what you are saying others can feel it let alone hear it. I love this Find My Unique Voice idea thank you. Help others achieve their values yet from my Authentic Place. That's good influence. Love it

It would have been lore valuable for us to hear Nate speak more. The hosts spent most of the time discussing amongst themselves than asking the guest questions. Podcasting is difficult!

Kudos to Nate for being graciously patient.

Nate is a cohost, not a guest.

The biggest reason people seem to know more about what they don't want than they know about what they do want would likely be because of the emotion of pain and its avoidance and survival instincts. We have a stronger urge to avoid pain than seek pleasure, in fact, often the pleasure we seek is in order to avoid a pain we have experienced before. As Damon said, he knew he wanted to avoid being bothered at work, avoid the pain of being bothered or scrutinised or drilled by the boss or whatever. Don't we learn that in sales we are more motivated to find a solution to a pain state than simply to find a new state? Having said that, the state we want to avoid and the state we want to achieve can simply be opposites

Well said. Beyond pleasure are deeper values. When you start tapping into those deeper values you start focusing on moving toward rather than away from. That's when life really ignites.

The state some want to avoid can have an incredibly strong pull, even at the cost of having a useful state. Where do we start - with the pain state or a desired state?

@@waynehutchison4874 start with accepting the pain state and then ask yourself what do you want to experience instead.
