there's this show called "the land of the lustrous" and despite being almost entirely CGI it's visually so beautiful so I agree with 'the cgi is not bad' point.

Dude is American but idai Arcane uses CGI and is an animated piece I haven't seen 2D like in series. If anime reaches high tones with Beastar in less time, imagine Arcane's production time in an anime 🤯

I always hate when people only see good animation from fights or God help me when they confuse art style and animation as if their the same thing. Like good animation isn't even about it's visual fidelity it's about it's ability to convince and not distract, good animation despite visual fidelity is about selling you the world and characters, the interaction and the impact, the art style aids that but I hate when people consider something good animation just because it chose a good art style. Also 100% agree on the need for more people to recognize subtle animation and things that are not absolutely bombastic like a fight scene, it's one the biggest reason I like Kyoto animation is because of their attention to detail in even the minor interactions not just save the budget for when shit gets serious possibly creating visual whiplash like that one pain fight from Naruto Shippuden

watching this, i NEVER got bored. i used to animate but my tablet broke a few months back. all my animations where action, and animated on 12 fps( to save time). when i look back at my older ones, i over used smears and blurs WAAAAAAAY too much. i see now that not all fast movements need smears. my broken tablet hasnt stopped my passion, i animate with my fingers on touch screen, i draw on paper, practice with flip books and much more to stay active. All in all i LOVED the video, you pointed all the right things out. cant wait for more content like this. have a great one! :thum

Ay thanks a lot man, personally I used to animate with my fingers on a mobile as well, but recently a diy stylus has worked fairly well, so I recommend looking up how to make one, it helps. Glad you like the vid🙏🙌

Thanks a lot for this video! As a fellow animator, I find these factors being misunderstood annoy me. I am not much of a pro and I can't even animate 2 percent of what these animators do, but still I am trying. And really thanks for the video again!!

Out of curiosity I was wondering what you thought of the animation in koe no katachi, personally I think it has beautiful shots with a soft style allowing for more personal interaction. The animation is fluid and when it comes to interactions with themselves, others or the environment it's extremely detailed(ie the more personal interactions). Also movements seem quite slow I personally think that's a great thing giving off a more intimate vibe not to mention unsure or careful. These are just my thoughts though, I lean my analysis more on the story and phycological thoughts of the characters which are things I highly value in media, unfortunately most pieces of media fail to fullfil my desired complexity and tend to speak louder than visuals which in my opinion is a misuse of the medium. Personally I prefer a more slow paced show, unfortunately most others don't agree with with that same preference so things tend to be more action focused which unless done well tends to take away time where important character interaction could take place instead
