Perfect! Just fixed the problem myself using your video. Thank you for taking the time to share this mate 👍 this video and others like this are saving regular working people that can’t always afford to send it to a garage the opportunity to both learn and to save thier hard earned cash. This repair via a Ford garage would have cost me half the cost of my entire vehicle a (2002 Ford Fiesta) Well done 👌
Nice one for your video. Mine went on me. Just waiting for the part to be delivered. Thank God for UA-cam and your easy to follow video. Hopefully do it when we get a nice day...Feb 22 and raining yet again...
Nice one, this video deffo helped me get it done. My new one did NOT want to click in place though. Borg & Beck so was a bit surprised. This was deffo not too easy! Fiddly as. Mine wasn't broken just been feeling jumpy for some time, reluctant into reverse etc. Had new clutch last year so I figured it was this. And it was! Thanks again.
Interesting video, thanks for putting it online. The Mrs has just rang and the AA are recovering her to a Ford garage as the car has this problem. Ford asking for £350 to replace/repair! That's my beer tokens for the weekend GONE! Thanks again!
RAC here in Australia just quoted me over $2000 AUD to replace the master cylinder. The part only costs $100. Ill be fixing this myself. Thank you for sharing! ♡
did you put the foam bit back? I've been trying to get it to slow into place but it just wont go. and the bolts that hold the metal assembly that goes across the back of the pedals wont even shift at all.
Is this the same for the MK7 model? I’m struggling to get into specific gears unless I pump the clutch or press it down fast and hard. I think it’s this because my fluid is full and the gears go in well with the car turned off
Hey, thankyou. You can't reprogram a ECU to work with your keys imoboliser ignition ect. You can swap all those bits though, if the car your new ECU is exactly the same as yours, you can swap things straight over and that will work. Hope this helps. Cheers
It’s advisable but not really it will have a air valve some were I think. Lots of peda pumping it took me about 10 mins before anything happened. With engine running.
Hi thanks for your comment, and sorry for the late reply, the part cost me £25, you should pay no more than £40 anywhere. Sounds like it’s running rich that, could be a worn lamba sensor and/or a dirty or broken air mass sensor, change the airmass first its a cheap part that can make a big difference, make sure spark plugs and air filter are good with it should help a lot. Hope this helps.
i just bought a little collar off e bay which goes on the pin and an allan key nut on the collar just tightenes it up 5 quid on ebay worth its weight in gold, 3 week ago the piston came off on m6 where there was only one lane i had to drive through the bloomin cones nightmare
Hi thanks for your comment. the plate can stay on, so once you have disconnected the two bolts and the two pipes at the back the spring will be the only bit holding the cylinder on.. I ended up unbolting the clutch pedal itself as the spring connects toit. All i can say is dont give up, ive done every job on a car at some point and this was easily the most awkward. so unbolt the clutch pedal take it all out then when you put the new one in connect the spring to the cylinder first so the last thing you put back will be the clutch pedal..Hope this helps mate.
1NE LIFE thanks for posting this video! Found it massively helpful. I ended up having to remove the pedal too. I also couldn’t remove the seat and I’m 6ft so I really struggled. Without removing the pedal there would be no way I could of reattached the spring!
Hey sorry for the late reply. Did you use an alignment tool putting the new clutch on, it has to be lined up perfectly it can cause problems if not. I think most likely will be the release bearing, did you replace that with the clutch, and if not fitted right can cause similar problems. I’m not trying to say you haven’t done the job right but I have had a very similar problem on the first ever clutch I did, had to take it back off re align it and put a new realest bearing in as I messed up the first not doing it right. If non of the above could be master or slave cylinder gone, although that normally causes the clutch to go very soft and sloppy. Let me know how you get on hope you suss it out. Cheers.
1NE LIFE the clutch was changed from a mechanic and yes I changed the whole clutch set with the release bearing. But the mechanic didn't got the air out of the system. Now the clutch is soft. Thanks for the reply!
1NE LIFE CARS I have a Ford Fiesta 2008 The car is petrol also the biting point is very high, When l try to find the clutch biting point I can't feel the biting point. Everytime I do clutch control the car stalls what could be the reason for this because everytime I am on the hill I always put the handbrake on to prevent stalling. My car has had done approximately 107,000 mileage.
is this kind of clutches, can be adjusted ? I have this problem that somtime i need to press the pedal two times, so i can go to reverse could you plz help me to solve it. Ford fiesta endura 1.3
Hi check for leaks on all the connections first. And check break fluid its topped up enough, slowly pump the clutch woth enhine on for a good 10 minutes. if still nothing its probably a faulty new part. Hope this helps. Cheers
Hi, yes of course, I’ve been inactive on the channel recently for other reasons but I’m back very soon, have a list of requests now, I will try and get it on in the next week or so. Hope this helps cheers.
So I changed my master cylinder on my fiesta zetec 2007 and now the car over revvs every now and then when accelerating. This wasnt an issue before i changed the master cylinder. Anyone know what may have caused the problem?
@@birdman7039 No I'm actually still driving with the problem 😭 I've double checked everything but unable to locate the problem. Did take it to the garage the other day and they said it's most likely clutch related. Gonna sell the car for cheap and just buy a new one though since this cars been nothing but trouble 😅
It's just unbelievable that they decided to make that piece out of plastic. I broke mine just by stepping on the clutch too hard. It's not only Ford that does this, either.
Its digusting ford used plastic instead of metal. They did it so they could sell more parts and repair costs. This exact thing happened to my car today.
I’ve got the same problem but the clip hasn’t snapped it just coming off abit, so I bought a new one but don’t trust myself doing it Probably get the garage todo it for a couple quid
mine went as i was driving down a duel carrigeway going to work. rac towed me home. took it to my local garage and i was expecting a big repair bill but they only charged me £60. how ford garages can get away with charging the earth is nothing short of scandalous.
there is a picture in the video at 3.42 thats shows the mount and bolts to take it off. And no you dont have to remove the clutch pedal but its much easier if you do. hope this helps.

do you have to bleed anything after replacing the master cylinder?

Nice vid, looks fiddly so my mate can do it for me. A few beers will be enough I hope.

Fantastic video!
Good vid... but you didnt show how to get the spring back in though... thats the hardest part i think...
Great vid. Straight and to the point. No extra BS. I was about to pull the entire pedal box but glad i dont need to. Keep up the good work
you saved me so much time thank you

Thanks mate, great video.
Hiya, how do you bleed the clutch on the fiesta too please
Is this the same for the MK7 model?

Is it necessary to remove the wipers and the plastic cover if you have a left-hand steering car? Or can you acces the cylinder without removing it?
thanks mate! about to order the part and do this exact replacement. that "shaft" is snapped same as yours.
How did he get away without bleeding the brakes or clutch?
Yeah good question
So no need to bleed the system after fitting a new master cylinder?
It’s advisable but not really it will have a air valve some were I think. Lots of peda pumping it took me about 10 mins before anything happened. With engine running.
Nice good vid cheers mate 👍
Hi.. how much will it cost. Mine does over acceleration although the pick performance is low the reving sounds louder

is there a pin through the nipple where the plastic fits back on pedal as mine keeps coming off the nipple
Yes mate there is, so a while after I did this it started popping off randomly, just used a cable tie in the end was never a problem after that

Hi mate. Exactly same problem on the same car. I’m struggling to get the old one off? Do you have to remove the plate that it bolts on to?

I changed the whole clutch on focus mk2 1.4 petrol and the new clutch is now hard when pressing the pedal. What does that mean?

had mine replaced now the slave cylinder leaked all the fluid fucking car might have to scrap it.
Good Video!!!
Bit more caution as to the fluid.
That stuff chows paint faster than skin.
Happened twice in 5 months :(
No volume
Doesn't really help at all, doesn't show you much at all!!
Yeah maybe you should take it to the garage then ya peanut. You will have to connect some dots.
... Useless...
Thanks mate , great video
