    Great video on your setup, we actually just bought one of these, with portable panels, haven’t used it yet. We have a 12v fridge so will probably keep it portable for now and keep the gas generator to top off the battery when needed.

    Well done! When the Kickstarter was active for the Delta Pro, I bought one and shoe-horned it into the tongue box of my 1980 13' Burro camper. I intercepted the shore power cable and used an ATS to switch between shore power and the DP. And just like you, I can run my fridge, slow cooker, induction cooktop, microwave, charge devices, everything. This.Just.Works. And OTA updates, as well!

    We got one thru ShopSolar as a kit. Comes with the EcoFlow Delta Pro, the remote monitoring screen, 2 X 200 watt Rich Solar suitcase type solar panels and all the cabling you would need (including 50' of solar cables). We paid $2600 for it as a kit. We love this thing for our RV. Just plug our shore power into it and that is it. We also have an old Honda EU2000 gas generator we use to charge the EcoFlow when there is not enough solar. Our last trip out we were off grid for a week and this unit ran everything in our RV including our AC (for 2.3 hours) and we never really gave any thought into how much power we were using. It is AWESOME and we love it.
    Pro Tip: we could run AC all day if we had the gas generator charging the EcoFlow while the EcoFlow was running our AC. Our gas generator cannot run the AC unit but the EcoFlow sure did!

      Love that, sounds like a good setup! (and not a bad price) We can similarly run our AC for about 2 hours without solar, maybe 4 hours with it.
      Excited for new RV ACs I’ve seen that are TWICE as efficient as typical, with variable speed compressors. The Furrion Chill Cube can run as low as ~600 watts, which in theory we could run indefinitely with good solar coming in 😜

    Guys, on a completely unrelated topic, the “Magic” in your channel are your personalities and your smiles. Just go back and rewatch the 3 to 4 minute section. I found myself smiling back at my monitor! You two are the best! ❤️
    A relatively simple answer to little or no Solar is to carry a small 2000 watt gas generator to charge the EcoFlow. It doesn’t take up much room, and should top up the EcoFlow fairly quickly. You will likely not use it often, but it would have been helpful when you were finding out why Twilight was filmed in the Pacific Northwest.

    Love the videos. Watched a few of yalls solar set up. Im looking to upgrade my class C with solar and was just going to do a battery bank. I likevthe simplicity of the ecoflo and want to keep my generator. But have something like this as a back up alternative for boondoocking. I suppose my dilemma is finding a place to mount it and still run full power to the coach through it.
    I suppose I just need to familiarize myself with the electrical system. Nice set up. I'm glad it works for yall!
    Happy travels.

      @gabandbren  Місяць тому

      Thanks so much! I think your best option might be just manually plugging the battery in to your shore power outlet when you want to use it.
      I think technically you could add another transfer switch, since you already have one with the onboard generator, but that sounds a bit more confusing.
      Also depends on what you want to run on solar/battery. If it’s just lower-powered 12v systems then I’d think a power station would be overkill. I’d be curious what you decide though, let me know!

  • @dariomenanteau99

    Awesome explanation with graphics for how to connect to transfer switch, Thanks! I have a 2020 Sunseeker (still keeping my Onan 4000) but I want to do this same thing to keep silent during Harvest host stays, etc.. I still have original lead acid house batteries in the stairway compartment so one step at a time. Have you looked at the EcoFlow DC-DC 800 watt charger to replenish when parked in shade or clouds?

    • @gabandbren
      @gabandbren  3 місяці тому

      The only downside with the 800W alternator charger for us is that it uses the same charging port as our solar, so we’d have to unplug our solar to instead charge from the alternator. The newer units have multiple ports, though. I think it would work well, we just haven’t needed it!

    EcoFlow makes great products. Their customer service is flawed a little but I still continue to buy EcoFlow because they stand behind their product as I had to send 3 units back after 3 years of use and they paid for shipping and replaced them. As far as battery management you should consider buying their EcoFlow alternator charger where it can charge your unit at 800 watts an hour from your alternator and battery as long as you are driving from point a to point b or just turning on the engine on cloudy rainy days. Good Luck!

    I think you should go over the ecoflows add on generator, which is nice because you can run the generator to charge the battery and not have to run a loud generator at night and it has the same form factor as the ecoflow.

    • @gabandbren
      @gabandbren  Місяць тому

      It's not a bad option but I just don't think we want an additional generator to store and maintain. A more likely upgrade for us would be to have an alternator charger directly off of our chassis battery!

    • @somedudeandacomp

      @@gabandbren true, the solar input on the ecoflow is very flexible. You can limit the amps through the amp and even plug it into a cigarette lighter if that's all you had.

    How long do you run your a/c with this generator

    • @gabandbren
      @gabandbren  Місяць тому

      Totally depends what temperature you run it at but I would say anywhere from 2-3 hours and be at a comfortable temp. If we wanted to run our ac off the battery all the time we would definitely start by replacing the ac with an inverter one as they draw much less power. We draw roughly 1.6kW and the new ones draw 700-800W. That alone would double your run time!

  • @erickessen5237

    I want to use 2 of those linked together for our needs . But I would just plug them to the regular shore power cord and go to the side of the RV like I would hook up to shore power . I'll keep my gas generator just incase I need to charge those batteries without solar power and just plug them into a wall socket in the RV . I like having options .

    • @gabandbren
      @gabandbren  Місяць тому

      Yeah that totally works, that’s the easiest way for sure! Hardwiring ours in has been awesome so we don’t have to plug/unplug it all the time but definitely not necessary!

    I'm a complete novice at the electrical power aspects of RVs, so I have a question. If need be, can you use a small inverter generator to recharge your Ecoflow? I guess what I am asking, is solar the only source of power?

    • @gabandbren
      @gabandbren  3 місяці тому +1

      No, there are a bunch of ways for it to charge! You can plug into a normal 110 house outlet, 12v cigarette plug (like in a car), or they also have an alternator charger. Solar is just the most convenient for our use case!

    • @markk171
      @markk171 3 місяці тому +1

      We have a small Honda EU2000 gas generator and we can AC charge the EcoFlow at 1800 watts. We set the EcoFlow to only charge at 1200 watts (do that via the phone app) and used 4oo watts of solar. So at points during our last trip we were getting 1200 watts AC charging from the Honda and at the same time getting about 380 Watts for the solar panels. I too am no electrician and this is as easy as plugging into shore power. Never had an issue with it and never really worried about power consumption. Its SIMPLE and AWESOME!

    What the company doesn't tell you is you can't get a full 1600 watt solar from the unit, it caps at 1.24kw and I returned the item on these terms. I was using a higher voltage bi facial and they were well within spec but with higher voltage panels under 150 but over 100v it limits inoht to 1.24kw.
    I had an array that was capable of 2500 watts and could only pull in 1.24 into my unit.
    I still think it's a good unit though.
    The downside about the app is there is absolutely no data logging so you have no idea how much solar you harvested each or any day nor any usage history.
    I still kept one of my ecoflows as a toy and I'm thinking of putting it in a small travel trailer.
    Be careful with the xt60 connector... If you push it against something it can come unglued, some models the xt69 female inside the unit is glued to the panel and can fall off and into the inside.

    • @gabandbren
      @gabandbren  Місяць тому

      Thanks for the tips! I have seen people pull the full 1600W (although not easy), but seems like it all depends on the volts and amps of your panel array. Maybe some units have an issue though like you said?
      And yes, DEFINITELY wish there was data logging. The only other products I’ve seen with that are Victron - not sure if there are others?

    • @somedudeandacomp
      @somedudeandacomp Місяць тому

      @gabandbren I had solar panels within the specification and it pulled 1.6kw for a few seconds and then it caps it to 1.28. Even calling support they were confused. I now have my array connected to another solar controller and it pulls over 2300 watts easily at suns peak.
