- In this video, we review the G-Shock GBX100! This new G-Lide model from Casio sports a new LCD display called MIP (Memory In Pixel) which offers crisp and legible visibility. This digital watch offers a robust outdoor package with awesome and unique features, including Tide Graph, Moon Data, high tide and low tide times, and sunrise and sunset times as well as a fitness and step counter.

As a surfer those teeth on the keeper are a gift from God, I see how anyone who isn't constantly in the water can find them annoying. I have lost to many watches out in the water because the keeper didn't do its job and the clasp didn't hold.
That new display is probably the best g-shock has ever released. Hopefully they can fit something like this in future 5600 releases. My most worn watch is my 5600 solar which I use at at work everyday, and I would absolutely love this display in it.
I am in the SAME boat Gav. This new display by itself is reason enough to pick this watch up!
If Casio makes a 5600 mip watch then it’s RIP for all the money they make from lcd 5600. Making money ruins things
even if you completely ignore those "workout"/step counting features, it's a pretty good deal.
I wonder if you don't use the bluetooth feature the battery lasts longer than 2 years? (that I personally don't care about cause I can just pull my phone out my pocket)
I presume that Bluetooth eats the battery life and that Casio assumes people will use that a lot, so they rated the battery for two years?

As a surfer I think the large display would make it easier to see everything at a glance. Hopefully it will replace using my phone to see the tides and weather so I won't get spammed with island beauties waiting to talk to me.
I suspect that many will end up buying this watch purely for the legibility of the display. The multiple sports timers, tide graphs, sun and moon data, Bluetooth connectivity and phone notifications are all just icing on the cake. You can use them or ignore them, but you can’t ignore that fantastic display.
Notification feature is a bonus for me at work cause I used to silent my phone but I don't need a wearable I would have to charge every now and then. Even my instinct 2s solar is now laying in the watch box.
Got to get one for me before Casio discontinue producing this because of this review.
I got the same watch same color and I love mine I have really no complaints about this watch at all but then agin I got big Wrists as well love all things it does like moon 🌙 sun ☀️ tide Bluetooth with automatic time but it would be cool for it to say the temperature outside as well and weather forecast
It's definitely the only G-Shock I want. The large time display numerals are #1. But, it's very hard to find, especially in black. With that comes little to no room to price haggle. C'mon Casio ramp up the production !

I really like the negative MIP display. But, I'd rather wait till a less expensive version comes out that does not have the surfer functions. I'll never need to know what the tide is like in Perth Australia day after tomorrow. Put the awesome display, on a watch that does one thing well. Tells time.

I have the same 5600 only thing wrong with it is the auto light is only on for 1 second and not adjustible to 3 seconds to 3 ,,..
GWM5610-1 is the best g shock ever! I have much more expensive watch, and I always choose the GWM5610-1 for my daily watch!
I want a g-shock that I can connect to my phone. I’ve had 2 apple watches and I hated both.

I have this watch and the only drawback for me is that it is not SOLAR powered. But it is a great watch.

The double keeper is good for surfing. You need the extra lock so you don't lose it

There is an airplane mode for that.
I would leave it in plane mode permanently, that would probably improve the battery life.
I don't care for bluetooth in my watch since I can just pull out my phine from my pocket to see any notifications. Which is why I never got an Apple watch.

Too bad new squares Gs are bigger, like this one or those 5000. Smaller squares like G/GLS/GLX-5600 and 5610 don´t get new ones and the G5600 are getting harder to find and because of that, more expensive.
I like it but what if your in the military need something that cant be tracked. I guess ill get a CasiOak or a Timex .

@@primo799 Some watches have the capability to be tracked. It could reveal critical information to the enemy like where you have been or where you came from.
Just don’t pair it to your phone.
@@jamessher6956 The watch itself still tracks some information that might be used to gather intel so that is a no go.
@@johanvandersandt8904there is an airplane mode on off option. Watch being trackable is either due to having GPS signal or Bluetooth signal. Mainly GPS signal on the watch itself. Without GPS it can be tracked only when it is paired with a phone with location on. For Bluetooth signal itself, the signal range is very short distance and Bluetooth can be turned off using airplane mode off.

I actually don't believe that they are making a solar version just yet. Hopefully in the future!

You know, I've seen some women with more oversized styles, and I think it looks great. I think it really comes down to what you feel comfortable wearing!

@@PGee. no, Baby-G sucks. Not as good quality as G-Shock and less functions. G-Shock is ok for women useless some crazy chunky watches like GWG-1000
It depends on your wrist size. I am girl and wearing this watch. It's not too big unless you have a tiny wrist
It's a no brainer and it's a buck 60 so it's not like some lifestyle choice lol
The reason we buy G shock glide is so we can go on adventures , so we can't wear apple watches ........
I love the watch. I like the video....too. But to be honest a bit more....it truly looks crazy big on your wrist.....I would never be seen with a watch that looks like it is meant for a much bigger wrist than mine....and makes me looks stupid. That watch looks dumb on your wrist, Sir.

Why would you buy this watch if you don't surf. It has no other purpose. Its designed for surfers to keep track of the tides moon and daylight. It also allows them to time their heats and keep track of training. It amazes me people woukd buy a watch like this if you don't surf.

Fishing and other people who benefits from tides. Not necessarily for surfer
Sunset sunrise and moonphase altogether in a watch is a useful feature for some apart from surfers. Why so narrow viewed the scope and use of a watch. I chose this over GBD 200 for these three features.
