That is the best functional review I've seen on any " smart watch '! I've got about 200 watches & have spent multiple hours looking up smart watches to only see that they count your steps, you can run over them, freeze & hit it with a hammer & a wielding hammer. With your review, id consider buying one of these. Sept for 1 minor detail. It's not solar & will have a dead battery in 2 years.
Absolutely killer display. The sun, moon, and tide data is great if you are planning outdoor activities. The exercise stuff probably works best uploaded to a phone with the Bluetooth connectivity. A great gadget for the price and it’s a G-Shock so it will survive anything that doesn’t kill you too.
On the tide screen is there a way to scroll the hours on a day to check the tide for later that day? Not just trying to work it out on the graph but moving the highlight bar to a chosen hour. Thanks
Yes there's running pace on the watch screen but u can't see it on the phone simultaneously (I think). Data will be recorded and stored in the app and can be connected to other running apps like strava.
But its not solar powered! Lol Seriously, Casio releases the best watch in their range being the GGB100 mudmaster and everyone jumps on it for having no solar powering! I just don't get it? For the record, two year battery changes are fine in my book... Great chance to inspect, clean and lube the main O-ring seal too... Another great watch from Casio..
You wouldn't need to worry about seals if you didn't have to swap out the battery. Solar and atomic timekeeping are top of my list. Wear it and forget it and get on with the good stuff!
They didn't do that 30 years ago because the technology to do that, reliably and inexpensively and at an extremely low level of system power, didn't exist 30 years ago. Old technology does not equal planned obsolescence.
@@Sunstepa you mean the same way a mechanical watch like a Rolex would cost a few thousand dollars yet will not be as accurate as an Apple watch that costs a fraction?

Love the GShock and Protrek reviews! Just shows the depth of watch appreciation Ariel has!! Would love to see a review of MTG-B2000 when it comes out!
Display is a killer. It's awesome
Interesting video. Regards.
I have this model. It's great!
How well does the step counter work? I was looking in to this watch for fitness purpose
@@seraph24568 pretty darned good.
How legible is it? I want a tide watch but I git the Casio tough solar one and it's so hard to read without my glasses...
@@davelynch4016 best digital display on the market that isn't an oled.
Nice video 🤌🤌👌👌👏👏👏, mine arrives tomorrow

Does it measure you mph speed live? does it have a thermometer reading?
No to both questions. It just shows pace. Why would you need a speedometer anyway
GBD200 comparison please.
How will you skip detailed information that is synced with your cellphone?
I managed to hold this watch and go through a quick glance at the modes and I find it a little lagging. What do you think?
lagging or lacking?
@@HardPass Lagging as there is a slight delay after deppressing the button each time, probably because there are so many functions in that watch,
@Frank Logan the button works when you let it go, not when you press it. It's slightly different than most other g shocks.
What are some other models with this screen?
Gshock gdb200
DW H5600
Is the display always on?
Yes
Does it has a running pace? And if It does, can we see the running pace on the screen or over the phone?

Can it display the day first and the month second ?
Afraid not.

I have so many solar watches you can have them...I rather have battery
Why ?
Nicer display, like why didn't they do that 30 years ago. But it's so planed to be obsol33+.
why did you write obsolete that way?
They didn't do that 30 years ago because the technology to do that, reliably and inexpensively and at an extremely low level of system power, didn't exist 30 years ago. Old technology does not equal planned obsolescence.
£150 for a digital casio?! no thanks. £40 maybe
Great point! Surely the value is dictated by the printed label and not the specs.
They(Casio) frozen in time before smartwatch era. They aren't relevent in this world anymore!
