gonna sound weird answering one of your questions in the video that you probably don't want an answer for, but here goes: What if he doesn't have a weakness? In this case, the strengths represent yang and the weaknesses represent yin. The basic answer here is that pure yang cannot create, so a man of absolute yang would not be able to produce qi (or whatever they call it here). edit: timestamp: 11:05
I view it more as his enemy is himself, as everyone has light and dark within themselves, both have yin and yang, thus his wife is both his strength and weakness because typical love story. Although if he lacks a weakness, yes he is unbalanced, and thus must go and not only conquer his unknown weakness... he has to find out what that is, because everyone has a weakness or strength. It'd be like telling someone depressed that thinks they have nothing, to find their strength, that's how they can overcome that imbalance.
@@IgnatiusBlaze4 What? I will admit I know nothing of the story, and I did not bring up the protagonist, I just have a bit of knowledge about Taoism. And yes, you are correct that someone imbalanced like that needs to find his yin. I imagine that if such a character, who was pure yang, did show up in the story, they would show up as an unusually strong non-practitioner who must accept themself in some way, before becoming a deus-ex-machina.
@@boomshockalocka Yeah all my knowledge is just from this video I know nothing about Hell's Paradise just Taoism, but it is said in the video his wife is his weakness... but I could also see that being twisted later to be not just his weakness, but also his strength. Power of friendship, love, all those wonderful cliches. Just figured I'd explain that angle more since it was discussed within the video, that the protagonist's wife is his weakness. Yeah definitely a set up for that, someone either pure yin or pure yang to become a dues-ex-machina, the chosen one or some shenanigans.
Tao is one of my favorite new gen power systems While I get that the dichotomy between strength and weakness can be confusing, it can basically be summarized as this. Strengths are whatever motivates you to keep on living, while weaknesses are whatever weakens your resolve to survive if it is removed. For example, gabimaru’s Tao spikes due to his strong desire to return to his wife (his weakness), but it would plummet if he found out that he wouldn’t be able to that since his drive is tied to her. It’s basically like a villain telling a protag they’re loved ones are a weakness they can exploit. Also flower Tao is more like sage chakra that another element
A perfect message for Taoism, the only true enemy is thyself, we all have yin and yang within ourselves, and to attain inner peace, one must confront and accept both, not throw one or the other away. Yin representing the female, yang the male, wuji infinity, and his wife being yin, the dark the cold his weakness, while also being his light his heaven his strength. This is super well thought out.
3:38 There are some anime like My Hero Academia that doesn't follow this concept though, because they follow a more western structure of a power system Chainsaw Man also doesn't follow this structure because it focuses more on abstraction and subjectivity
If nux actually listened he would've known that every thing done with tao is connected with yin and yang cycles, and any interpretation in it hinder all abilities of tao.
11:00 My guess is if he didn't have a weakness he'd still be imbalanced, because... he doesn't know his weakness, and in Taoism, yin and yang, you always have a weakness, you'd then have to not only overcome this unknown weakness... but figure out whatever the hell it is which, making it more difficult to attain enlightenment... honestly probably could be better story telling and make for a longer. It would also be the same about telling a depressed person that only hates themselves has yin, they need to find their yang their strength, their heaven to become more balanced and to accept themselves, because everyone has a strength and weakness even if they don't know it. I'd say this also works at around 12:00, your strong emotions are what fuels you, like his love for his wife, say someone calls her a whore. She is especially both his strength and weakness, thinking positively to defend her honor and of her love, while also fighting negatively to wipe this shit stain off the planet for insulting her, it gives a spike to your emotions of conflicting emotions, thus it is only a spike, an adrenaline rush, as he isn't obtaining enlightenment and wuji from it, as they are chaotic feelings, fluctuating up and down, all around constantly unbalancing and balancing each other back and forth. If anything there should be repercussions to this, like back in Naruto, the early days, if Naruto relied on the demon fox's power too much it "shortened his life" supposedly, but... honestly think they threw that out, and not watching Boruto to see if that holds true. Luffy using Gear 2 at 1st also kind of had those repercussions right? Until he mastered it training with Rayleigh. It is also what powers up Naruto at the end, accepting Kurama, the good and bad with it, not feeding off his hate, not working off his love for his friends, but accepting both, why he was able to ascend to a Godlike state after befriending not just Kurama but all the tailed beasts.

This power system explains every anime power that ever exists. After all, ki, nen, chakra, and most anime power systems came from the basics of something from real life, like having life force in living beings and the elements in nature. All you have to do is control the life force inside you or from nature. They just have different names but they all have the basic root. The Chinese elements which were explained in the video are also shown in many Chinese manga I've seen and it is also how Asian see if their partner is a suitable fit for them in life. For example, if the wife is of the water element, and the husband is the wood element, the husband would have a better career for some reason, or their kids would have a strong body, etc. I don't really know how these thing work even though I'm Asian. Also, the elemental s*x thing is also shown a lot in Chinese cultivation manga so it is not exactly new. Some characters even kidnap women to better their cultivation.
I like how the powers themselves aren't entirely new but instead given a working (and if you read/eventually watch the whole thing) understandable place. 6:00 well... yes, Tao for those that don't know is Yin, Yang, and Wuji, if you're a Pokemon fan you recognize the term tao for the tao trio, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem that represent these philosophies. Yin is seen as feminine power, dark, earth, cold, passive principle of the universe, the color black, while yang is white. The activate male principle of the universe, it's creative and associated with heat, fire, light, heaven, that in simple definition is Yang. Wuji is the balance, both and neither, without limits. Yang and yin, constantly at war, polar opposites incapable of working together, but if one does get their light and dark together it becomes wuji. Of which... well looking at Pokemon again, the symbol of the ONE dragon that came before all 3, that Kyurem the wuji can attain either truth (yang reshiram) or ideals (yin zekrom) puts it one step closer to... well a God in the Pokemon universe as the One Dragon could be. Arceus is THE God pulling from Buddhism and Christianity/Catholicism, but with Pokemon we know multiple gods can exist. However Kyurem is incapable of absorbing both as stated from dex entries and the DNA splicer, meaning it will never attain that god level status truly, or reobtain it, depending on if Kyurem itself is the One Dragon or its own entity. I choose the latter because it cannot absorb both, it is incapable, upon splitting the One dragon is gone forever, never obtainable a power beyond our imaginations (much like Gods and the infinity philosophy behind wuji despite Kyurem also representing wuji). Reshiram and Zekrom were the split soul, Kyurem is the zombified remains of the One dragon, incapable of being whole without a soul, thus to keep alive it preyed on humans and Pokemon alike in the neighboring town after it crashed into the planet. Took 2 twin princes fighting like children... to split a God... not sure what that says about the dragon or humanity.
I really like how understanding, will, and analyzing your relation to nature leads to power. I mean sure Tao could use a bit more practical practical skills that go along with it. But I like it more than than most power systems for sure because it tends to make the characters more realized (because you have to explain their beliefs, mental state and deep personalities in order to explain their power increases) This shifts a major part of the story to character development through inherent design. If you are interested in another series that uses belief and understanding as primary modes for power. Allow me to introduce you to virtous sons! It's a God damn fun, wacky and hilarious read with some good ohilosophy in it (It's cultivators, but greco-roman themed. It's set in the Mediterranean with Greek culture. Cultivators are called "philosophers" and many famous historical figures are characters. Do you want to see Socrates beat the shit out of Plato? While waxing philosophicaly the whole time? Look no further! Series foreword- "The saying goes that when a man is born the Fates weave his destiny and swaddle him in it. Then one day the man dies, and the swaddle becomes a shroud. Heaven moves on. It is audacity to question the Fates. Olympus is Olympus. The land of men is the land of men. To transgress that, to cross the line of divinity and scale Olympus Mons? To defy the Fates and cast off their threads? That is hubris. It’s a mark that every philosopher bears plainly on their soul."
Tao is literally just Chi, TBH. Its very similar to how Chi is depicted in Chinese stories more then Dragon Ball influenced stories (Which Dragon Ball itself took from) and ius more similar to the Spirit Cultivation Genre of Chinese fiction. A few good examples for people who want to look into them Evolution from a Tree (For those that liked Reincarnated as a Slime) Demonic Emperor/ Me, the Heavenly Destined Villain (for those that want a Villain Protag story) I Am An Evil God (For those that feel that MCU's Multiverse stories are old hack and don't do much with the multiverse, its more in line with EEAAO.)
Back when I was heavy into psychedelics I thought the Taoists had it all figured out; all things are one thing, the unity of the universe is God itself.

I wonder if he has heard of both power systems in the Index/railgun/accelerator franchise. I can't really say it has the objectively best power systems, since I'm biased, but it definitely is one that stands out with how much it takes from real world science and occultism to create some of the most interesting, and OP, characters in media

"Tao is often associated with Buddhism" From years of being a weeb that learned about ancient asian culture through games and shows, there's one thing I'm certain of: this is an extremely occidental take. From a western standpoint, they do seem similar as "ancient asian religions", but buddhism whole deal is kinda to be "not taoism". Admittedly, the two religions figured out that direct opposition isn't good for either of them, and thus tried to find a balance by completing each other. But still, as far as I know, they remain fairly adamant and being "not at all the same thing as the other" Again, that's what I know about it, but I could be utterly wrong.
The power system in hells paradise is way easier to understand if you read Chinese cultivation light novels, which is the best types of power systems in my opinion, like Bochu jutsu is like dual cultivation and the tanden is the Dantian etc.
Just FYI, this guy will usually throw in some statements that are there just to get a reaction out of people. Like defending Sakura or calling Usopp trash, just to make people talk about him. "My favorit X" is also used a lot, because it rallies up people that are fans of other things. It's actually kinda clever, it works for him!
Weeb Commander got some good shizz that I watched from recommended plus Hells Paradise power system is interesting for sure but don't know much about it so far since I'm anime only also plz talk about Peakland Saga S2 Nux
Ill be honest.. Chinese cultivation levels are one of the best power levels. Its basically.. Getting infinitely stronger.. And ascending infinitely. With main levels and each main levels having small levels... Basically... They go from mortal... To immortal.. On their realm... Only to ascend into a greater world... And Find that they are weak af in that realm. Its fun to see our main chars go from mortal thats just stronger than normal by martial arts to being able to destroy galaxies and universes and create them as well. Then to see them fight such beings as well.
Nux says he likes the sex thing but wait till he find out that there were grown men who where hunting a little girl for years to help them with with their sex tao training
fwiw, the whole 5 elements system is just super basic Chinese medicine theory. And yeah, he's making it sound more complicated than it needs to be. The whole circle/star system is actually kinda poetic. The star thing is just a fancy paper/scissors/rock thing tbh
its a more blunt naruto on where it takes its source. i loved the manga its worth a read but it's not something wild for a power system. It simplifies it down to the root is how I feel about it. the emotions power tao because when you use those emotions you become more of yourself in that moment, by not having a weakness you are weaker because you don't divulge yourself to that experience. so you are not allowing yourself to grow as a person and leaning into something too much which unbalance
... wouldn't be copying Nen would it? As Naruto also did this, and the Chinese elements concept came before all 3? lol Naruto was playing with these ideas too, but I think something changed between the young naruto and Shippuden as wood is a secondary element combination of earth and water, while lightning and air took it and metal's places. Meanwhile yes the helping each other out also plays into weaknesses, while wind is weak to fire, you can also fuel a fire jutsu to enhance it with wind, which while training to make his Rasen Shuriken Naruto mentions, yes he being a wind user is weak to Sasuke's fire, while wind counter's Sasuke's lightning powers being strong against lightning, it can also fuel Sasuke's fire for bigger stronger attacks. Elements of Yin and Yang are in Naruto's power system too.

The true sleeper hits this season are Heavenly Delusions and KamiKatsu, one S tier anime with movie production and the other is absolute shitpost the anime, unapologetically so.
I'd argue the best power system is from Gurren Lagann because my brain go dopamine and things just work: Little thing combine with big thing to make bigger stronger thing. These power systems are too confusing for me to wrap my head around I'd rather it be simpler and hype rather than explanation heavy and complex.
"power"" comes from the balance of the opposite polarity, there is a rythm of tao, expansion, contraction, hot, cold, male, female, yin, yang, you can operate from one or the other, but you will not use the tao, you will restrict it... The young girl explained it as: "strong, weak, strong, weak" it is a balance of poles, any extreme will be balanced, if not voluntarily / counciously it will happen naturally with the same strength in the opposite direction, the greater the abuse the greater the drawback. The creators of this manga/ anime have done they homework, these principles are universal, they describe how nature works, they are inspired by ancient understandings...

Physical - Power of the body
Ex: One Punch Man
Mental - Power of the mind
Ex: Saiki K, Mob 100
Spiritual/Soul - Power of the spirit/soul
Ex: Bleach
Energy - Using the energy within and around
Ex: Dragon Ball
Species - Using the power of a bloodline or race
Ex: Pokemon
Supernatural - Using power beyond what reality can realistically explain
Ex: TTIGRAAS
(That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)
Elemental - Using the power of the laws of the universe
Ex: One Piece, Naruto
Gear/Equipment - Using the power of outside items/technology to improve/use strengths/powers
Ex: Gurren Laggan
19:00 depression bye bye I'm a flower now 😂😂
I love how the big take away is how much he moves his hand while speaking .
And HEAD!
XD
18:55 depression bye bye, I’ll be a flower
16:52 that's just the villains, if they worked together
I really like how understanding, will, and analyzing your relation to nature leads to power. I mean sure Tao could use a bit more practical practical skills that go along with it. But I like it more than than most power systems for sure because it tends to make the characters more realized (because you have to explain their beliefs, mental state and deep personalities in order to explain their power increases)
This shifts a major part of the story to character development through inherent design.
If you are interested in another series that uses belief and understanding as primary modes for power.
Allow me to introduce you to virtous sons! It's a God damn fun, wacky and hilarious read with some good ohilosophy in it
(It's cultivators, but greco-roman themed. It's set in the Mediterranean with Greek culture. Cultivators are called "philosophers" and many famous historical figures are characters. Do you want to see Socrates beat the shit out of Plato? While waxing philosophicaly the whole time? Look no further!
Series foreword-
"The saying goes that when a man is born the Fates weave his destiny and swaddle him in it.
Nick giving nux whiplash was everything i wanted from this video and i got it. Too bad nux was left unsatisfied and begging for more though😅
The 5 ways of tao was crazy, and sex being part of it. That is great conseps
As a long time sub of both channels, this is great
Tao is literally just Chi, TBH.
Its very similar to how Chi is depicted in Chinese stories more then Dragon Ball influenced stories (Which Dragon Ball itself took from) and ius more similar to the Spirit Cultivation Genre of Chinese fiction.
A few good examples for people who want to look into them
Evolution from a Tree (For those that liked Reincarnated as a Slime)
Demonic Emperor/ Me, the Heavenly Destined Villain (for those that want a Villain Protag story)
I Am An Evil God (For those that feel that MCU's Multiverse stories are old hack and don't do much with the multiverse, its more in line with EEAAO.)
As soon as I heard him say he was watching a video from the Weeb Commander, I was like "Oh no". Then I stayed for Nux's reactions
The weeb commander great though 🍉
Nick is great TBH, he drag stuff out, but he delivers
Back when I was heavy into psychedelics I thought the Taoists had it all figured out; all things are one thing, the unity of the universe is God itself.
You want to know know the best power level system? It’s “POWER LEVELS ARE BULL$#!+”, now start training by wearing this Lead weighted Turtle Shell and start tilling the nearest open field.
I somehow heard Tau the whole time and all i have to say is:
"FILTHY XENOS, YOUR RAILGUNS ARE NO MATCH FOR MY CHAINSWORD"
18:48 This reminds me ending scene of The Fountain
This crossover just mad my whole life bro.🤙🏽😂
Nux you have spoiled your beans, erase your memory immediately.
My Top 4 Favorite Power-System in Anime:
1st- Jojo's Bizarre Adventure,
2nd- Hell's Paradise,
3rd- Bleach,
4th- Naruto.
I wonder if he has heard of both power systems in the Index/railgun/accelerator franchise. I can't really say it has the objectively best power systems, since I'm biased, but it definitely is one that stands out with how much it takes from real world science and occultism to create some of the most interesting, and OP, characters in media
I remember when he started as NChammer23. Crazy to e how big his channel is now.
Weeb commander is just his second channel lol
Caught the notification 32 seconds after upload.. immediately clicked. Fucking 5 MINUTES because of slow internet, an unskippable adds and having phone troubles.
(-_-)... yeaaah that sounds about right... + 20 seconds to write i guess.
"Nanomachines, Son" kkkkk
well when they water element starts to drip you allow the wood elemental to act as a plug and absorb the tao
"Tao is often associated with Buddhism"
From years of being a weeb that learned about ancient asian culture through games and shows, there's one thing I'm certain of: this is an extremely occidental take.
From a western standpoint, they do seem similar as "ancient asian religions", but buddhism whole deal is kinda to be "not taoism". Admittedly, the two religions figured out that direct opposition isn't good for either of them, and thus tried to find a balance by completing each other. But still, as far as I know, they remain fairly adamant and being "not at all the same thing as the other"
Again, that's what I know about it, but I could be utterly wrong.
This guys video starts like LOTR ends. Got 7 ways to start? I'll use all of them.
Nux should deepdive into the systems in a Xanxia novels (Cultivation) lol
The power system in hells paradise is way easier to understand if you read Chinese cultivation light novels, which is the best types of power systems in my opinion, like Bochu jutsu is like dual cultivation and the tanden is the Dantian etc.
1st time in a while since I got Nux video 5 mins after post, NCHammer always in the feed, darn you shadow services, Nux shorts shud be a thing right?
Just FYI, this guy will usually throw in some statements that are there just to get a reaction out of people. Like defending Sakura or calling Usopp trash, just to make people talk about him. "My favorit X" is also used a lot, because it rallies up people that are fans of other things. It's actually kinda clever, it works for him!
flower tao sounds more like wood tao with extra steps
is it just me?
The star in the center, wtf y talking about there are 5 elements and a arrows. You see starts in your head Nux taku
i guess, in near death condition, you have the fear of death and the will to fight to survive, so thats the weak and strong emotion
Tao is the same name as the power system from Black Cat.
Taoism is an actual religion thing.
@@sidecharacter7165 I know, I just wanted to mention Black Cat, as it’s a solid manga.
first thing i thought when i heard tao
"Bust out those notebooks." He really missed a chance to throw in a Midoriya meme.
9:27 get stronger by accepting yourself? So Kung-Fu Panda?
... wouldn't be copying Nen would it? Elements of Yin and Yang are in Naruto's power system too.
never thought id see chogath in a nux video ngl
Lips aren't syncing!!!!! 😆 😆
Power system afficionado 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Eh, Nux reacting to Nick? Even before watching i know this going to be good.
Nick explains hells paradise Tao power system is what made me watch this anime, to be honest if not for him i would have skipped it, but he explained it so well that made me become invested in that world building.
Guys if you are not subscribed to nick, just do it pls, i have been subed to the man since over a year ago and his content is very good 👌.
If you enjoyed this, The Weeb Commander has a completely different channel where he just talks about Naruto lore.
"Oh so it's the Force"
18:54
O
M
G
XD
Reminds me of the "selfless state" in Demonslayer.
I thought the Yin-Yang was Shintoism not Taoism? Am I wrong? I’m not a massive expert but I thought I knew enough to know that
People throwing active seizures have less jerky movements than this guy.... Hes like a bobblehead in an earthquake and takes forever to get to the point
The element part reminds me of wulong fallen dynasty. I always wondered why that game had metal as an element. You should play it nux its a souls game
my man just found out about cultivation
idk Nux, i guess you are the first vtuber I'm actually watching idk how you are doing it
min 17:00
BRUH, i am in tears 😂
This one is a true banger
The execution. Was off but the concept of the in time movie Is good and makes sense
The true sleeper hits this season are Heavenly Delusions and KamiKatsu, one S tier anime with movie production and the other is absolute shitpost the anime, unapologetically so.
It's like Pokemon mixed with chakra
I'd argue the best power system is from Gurren Lagann because my brain go dopamine and things just work: Little thing combine with big thing to make bigger stronger thing. These power systems are too confusing for me to wrap my head around I'd rather it be simpler and hype rather than explanation heavy and complex.
Dude that guy talks so fast I had to double-check if I was on fast forward.
I get some of the Hells paradise panels are a work of art but I genuinely enjoy and like the anime I don’t understand the hate it gets
That's literally just Chinese Feng Shui
His naruto videos are great too
Right now there are 4 Hell's Paradise erojinshi 😊
The weaknesses is more like megaman(2), unless you spam sawblade everything was weak to sawblade.
