You can even take out the dvd rom, put on a secondary ssd or hdd in its place and use 2nd for saving data files, freeing up your primary drive for programs only, which can also improve the speed by not clogging up the primary, And you can get an external disc housing, and put the dvd rom you removed for the mbp, and plug in via USB when required......
Just a thought!
Excellent review, and final cut pro is a great software to work with! I have a 2012 also that was upgraded too.
Bro, about to buy this now 😅 well 2013 MBP. Thank you for this!
Might not be something you'd want to try, but Open Core Legacy Patcher would allow you to update that machine all the way through Ventura. Or, if you want to be a little cautious, stop at Monterey with OCLP. I'd be interested in seeing if your video production was aided by that... you could update your Final Cut programs, for one thing. Anyway, thanks for this post. I run a 15" 2012 MBP and have both Ventura (Open Core) and Kubuntu Linux installed on it. Blessings.
Thanks for making this man, i have MD101, feels it's so laggy to edit an 1080 footages.. upgraded the SSD, and still laggy.. hoping upgrade the RAM into 16GB will fix it. Cause i can't afford to buy a new MBP, specially the electronic price in Iran are sooo expensive. Once again, thanks for making this video!
I've been rebuilding and upgrading 2012 MacBook pro's for my bandmates. So cheap.
Do you recommend this MacBook 2012! For music production? Thanks for any tips!
@@elMore1107 I can. I’ve done a lot of music production with the 2012 MacBook Pro, only upgrade I have done is a SSD
6:56 That is a thuderbolt port you can use it connect external display if you can want many more things using different converter... Love from India...I also own a MacBook pro 2012 buy it second hand like you
Salut sama lu bro, gimana ada target buat student exchange lagi gk? Gw pengen liat lu pasang target dan berhasil mencapainya lagii, keren banget lu
mine cost 380 Canadian dollar . and when i bought it it had 750hdd i7 2.9ghz and 8 gig ram. now it has 16gb ram and512 ssd (total of 600)
Waiting for your next informative video :)
Gua liat pas sma, skrg dah kayak ARTODIPRO JIT
Literally, typing this from MD101, the only reason I buy this mac because the MacOS, even through I have higher spec hackintosh laptop (Thinkpad L530, i7 3630QM, 16gb, 240gb ssd) but I keep complaining about it's stability and battery life, and lack of Backlit keboard. now I using it as my daily driver, pretty much the last "upgradable" macbook from apple (with the 15 inch variant). the battery life is amazing, the screen is amazing (even it's pre retina model), and the performace is quite comparable to my Hackintosh.
nice, i have the same computer. By the way, what camera do you use?
Editing on a mid 2011 MBA, albeit with proxies and patience 😂
What's the oldest MBA or MBP that could let me work without proxies and quite so much patience? And an external SSD :)
😂😂😂 the end got me.
That port you didn’t know what it was. It’s a FireWire port. I use that port to plug in my Sony HDV FX7 that shoots on mini DV tapes to edit videos ( it actually still works... slowly but it works). I bought the laptop because of that reason alone. Looking to upgrade to 1TB SSD and 16gb ram soon too
Edit: so I did the upgrade... it’s like a new computer
@@nietingebruik4375 yup
@@nietingebruik4375 depends on what I’m using to record with. You can see my videos aren’t super good quality but they’re okay. Out of all my videos I’ve put on here it’s been FCPX, iMovie, or Gopro built in quick app
widihh dapet laptop baruu.. congratss!
The port you werent sure about is called firewire and certain products use it but no recent ones do.,
Have you tried with Davinci Resolve? I will have the same mac next week and it already has 500 gb ssd, I will upgrade to 16 gb of ram like you.
I’m just interested of video shooting and editing as a hobby so I don’t want to spend a lot of money for final cut instead triing a free one.
Im going to buy one in this week. have u tried davinci resolve bruh ?
Install Big Sur on it with Patched Sur 1.0.1. Mine works wonderfully well !
I have this computer and i haven’t replaced SSD but I did replace the RAM. Maybe that’s why it’s still slow. I think I might have accidentally deleted the built in antivirus and maybe that could be another reason why it’s slow. Makes me want to just get a new one
You need to replace for a ssd and you will notice the change
It's been a long time not see u akira hehe
Nice video man. It's exactly what I need to know for I envision buying the model MD102 (I7 / 8G ram / 500G HDD). Do you think I can also upgrade it to be able to edit 4k videos? Thanks
yes
to edit 4k you probably need to swap the hdd to ssd, coz the computer needs to be fast to open 4k files
Masih pakai ini buat edit video bang?
Hi i do have this model the same you have and actually i been looking for a video like your video, the port you dont recognize i use it to conect a second screen but i purchased a converter from this port i dont rembember its name and the out put is hdmi so i can conect a lcd screen and i have a second desk and work in both its pretty cool. Thank you for sharing your video it was very helpfull for me.
How does da vinci perfomr in 2012 thanks
please choose 1 for the best , catalina / bigsur for macbook pro 2012?
Hi! How do you run Final Cut Pro on an older version? For me it just says I need to upgrade MacOS but I cant because it is too old.
In my macbook 4k vedio is not rendering i m also edit please tell me how to fix it up
How are you editing 4K when I can’t even playback my drone 4K footage? Mine is all choppy!
At the beginning of the clip press i, the. At the end of the clip press o. Click sequence, press render in to out. It should be less choppy. Also put the playback time from full to half or quater
you have to record on your drone at h.264 not h.265 i had that problem on my 2012 mid and i some times have to make sure in the dji app that im shooting at h.264 with my mavic air 2 at 4k im going to uprgade my laptop now just cause rendering or background render is slow i have tons of effects for days just need faster render to play back
@naim smith I’ll try that out, much thanks 🙏
That port is mini display port I guess....
Do you use FireWire on your MacBook? Because I do. Period.
Kangen content the time limit yang dlu ;)
What is your application for editing like photo and video please let me know
I upgraded to Cataline once, but the battery keep draining even if you close the lid. Nah, i'm rolling back my device back to Mojave. Yeah I know there will be many barrier in this 2023, but it's okay.
masih enak gak sih untuk 2021?
😂 I will never change you! Than few days after 😂

Can You help me?? Macbook pro mid 2012 with 16gb + SSD or macbook pro 2014 8gb 256ssd not upgradeable ?. I used adobe pack / Office and old games
I think it always depends on:
a) the exact specifications of the system
b) what you expect from a system
There are some noticeable differences in specs between models!
For example: CPUs!
If you go for the 13-inch models you get dual-core processors (Intel i-series).
If you go for the 15-inch (and above) models you get quad-core processors (also Intel i-series) instead!
Looking for raw power you likely get the 15-inch models cause (at least in multi-core-applications!) they perform much better.
Question is always whether you feel the difference in everyday life or not... depends on what you normally use.
Even graphics are different! Depending on models you got CPU-embedded Graphics (Intel HD-Series) or an extra Graphics-Chip (in older MacBooks most likely Nvidia GeForce Mobile-Series). If you get your hands on a MacBook with Nvidia-chip it will drastically improve graphics-power (maybe useful for heavy graphic software) but even then the MacBook is not meant to be a gaming machine.
RAM is always nice to have(!) and I would not recommend under 8GB of RAM for today’s tasks. I think 16GB could be the so called: “today’s standard” (especially when using heavy graphics or video applications)
SSD is non-negotiable- old HDDs will let your MacBook run like crap!
I own a MacBook Pro mid 2012 13-inch and an MacBook Pro mid 2012 15-inch both of them with 16GB of RAM and fast SSDs.
Only difference are the CPUs (2-cores vs. 4-cores). What I can tell: Both of them performing extraordinary for their age! In daily task like browsing the web, doing emails, watching videos/pictures, download stuff, making video calls and using office software you will not notice the difference between them or a newer device.
In addition, I can only talk about personal experiences with software I use.
I bought those MacBooks for my software- & web-development! So I use Xcode for C/C#/Swift and various applications for markup/css, JavaScript/PHP/SQL, databases and even servers-
sometimes for some vector-based designs (brands or elements for web) and until now these machines fully satisfy my needs.
Unfortunately, I can't say anything about Adobe on the device.
Down to the games: these machines (nor the MacBook Pros 2012, nor the MacBook Pros 2014 where supposed to run games) If you mean really old (like age of empires 2 or something like that) it will most likely run (if the game is playable on MacOS!!) for further information check out the GPU of the MacBook you would like to buy and search the internet- you will find plenty of benchmarks all over the place!
I tried some games so far (older and newer!) and it feels kind of suffocating. Some games will run but most times it will kick the temperatures of the device up in the critical degrees!
These devices are made for work.
Personally I prefer my MacBook Pro 2012 13-inch! For me It is just the right size for on the go and a large display can be connected at home without any problems! The performance is great and all connection options you need are available + upgradability is outstanding!
You can easily upgrade the RAM or the SSD (with a little more afford you can place a second SSD instead of the dvd-drive). You can replace the Battery (yes baby!!!) and even some repairs can be done if you got the Know-how.
For me, upgradability and access to the tech inside comes first!
But the choice is up to you.
If you want a good working machine and a device that you can upgrade or replace batteries. Then you can go for the MacBook Pro mid 2012. (13-inch has the easy to exchange battery).
If you want the newer MacBook Pro go for the 2014.
Performance from MBP 2012 and 2014 should be close together (if you are looking at the correct model series) but 8 or 16GB of RAM could make a difference.
This has been helpful but my friend says 2012 is outdated and that Apple has discontinued or forgotten about 2012 Mac and that virus is on all 2012 mac. That a disadvantage is I wil have to pay for their services to enjoy d Mac? Is it true one can’t use free editing software on it?
Mana video baru
Udah lama gk aploud :(
