I'm convinced yoongi is a superhuman because I can't comprehend how a human being is supposed to endure so much pain, suffering and trauma like that and still continue with a smile....And become an idol, and become famous? I don't think I could do it. He's so incredibly strong, I feel so honored and grateful he chose to be so vulnerable and transparent with us with this song. I can't even begin to imagine what he had to redig in order to reenact his past traumas. Again I say, he's so strong. W Yoongi for shedding light on this, the ugly tears were definitely present

Yoongi's been through some rough shit and it makes me so proud that he's working to move past his trauma. It makes perfect sense now why he wants to kill the scarred version of himself - since that's the one who holds all the pain, anger and hurt inside. This entire album was beautiful start to finish and I hope that his music continues to help heal those who listen to it with open minds.

그는 이미 트라우마를 모두 극복한거 같습니다.
왜냐하면 지우고 싶은 고통스러운 기억들을 MV를 통해 스스로 재현해냈습니다.
      극복하지 못했다면 불가능한 일이죠.
그리고 청중들에게 "I don't know your name" 하지만 그 자신이 그랬던 것처럼 당신도 극복할수 있다고 말하는거 같아요

Please note the split-second image of a hand holding almonds at 16:34. This is a reference to ALMOND: A NOVEL about a guy who has trouble identifying and describing experienced emotions because of a neuropsychologic condition (alexithymia). The "almond" refers to the amygdala, an almond-shaped area of the brain. Yoongi was seen reading this book in a preview to IN THE SOOP. The book is on Namjoon's recommended list.

just a random fun fact that's kinda related: in my mother tongue amygdala is basically called the almond nucleus (mantelitumake) and I hadn't even given the name much thought until this MV :')

I really do believe that he is where he is now because he was brave enough to use his music to process what he was going through. The Agust d album started it all. He said he was quite angry in that album but he needed to be that was where he was at in 2016! But he continued to work on himself! When I think about what anxiety he was going through while being a public figure I truly admire him! Now he seem so free! So self aware and open! Another important aspect of his healing I believe are the other members, his brothers! That’s why in Daechwita and Haegeum...when he had to confront himself and try to eliminate the corrupt personas he has in his psyche, he always had 6 people backing him up. That’s why he always wants to be with BTS forever...it’s his safe zone...gah I love this guy! What a brave journey he’s been on..And to share that with the world is doing a great service for those who may be in the same boat! Thank you Yoongi, Suga and Agust d!

Hello Lana, yes the scar now makes all sense and Yoongi is such a generous person to give so much of himself to the world.. I believe Yoongi has finally been able to have synchronized his Agust-D and Suga persona into this MV and show the Yoongi of today. You are all right on all points!!! Thanks Lana enjoy the concert in Oakland. Take care 💜

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. I am so surprised ur watching all 3. I love it though. So glad u watching Anitra! Yeah she was caught off guard because she was avoiding spoilers. Meanwhile i was on twt when this dropped and all my moots were like don't watch this at work. U must be alone. 0.o And yeah lots of crying on twt and instagram.
Watching Haegeum answers ur ques. Yeah he killed the king but than he became just as bad and was killed. It's a cycle.
Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. Hugs tight Lana. I was finally able to cry for him at last with Anitra. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟

People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. Its the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hypervigilance so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that his been able to be so open with these issues.

I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point.
The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world.

As another Bay Area ARMY, I wished I could've joined you to attend the concert in Oakland, except I'll be in Japan on vacation! Yoongi is my bias and we could've screamed and cried together! I've followed your BTS journey since the beginning. I hope you are done with Nursing school and are happy with your work! We'll just have to meet up when they are touring together in 2025/2026! YT put a warning on 'Amygdala' (recently) for a reason. Once it hit back then? Thousands of peeps who'd suffered through their own personal trauma (myself included - as a 56 yr old West Indian Army Mom who discovered BTS in '16 and was on the verge of ...S with two failed attempts(over yrs, since a teen ) and on my third in 2016.. They - literally - saved my life)....became triggered. Is why he specifically put the " I Don't Know Your Name". It was revealing/sharing his past trauma with Army, while acknowledging that WE are also maybe...fighting our past demons and simply trying to deal. Eg.There was a young lady (BTS reactioner) who'd been though a serious car accident back in college...nearly passed. She couldn't look at when Suga hit that car. Broke down like - seriously - lost it. Had to end her vid, midway. Saw so many similar reactions? Lost count of how many 'so-called trained therapists' covered this video (back then) and tried to reassure their followers in their comments. Suga never hid from his S attempt back then or his pill addiction/trauma/depression and like hundreds of thousands in Army - credit BTS as a group (and his role with them)......for saving his life. Hence why he maintains to this day - not word for word but "My future consists of performing with my six brothers well into our old age. Even if we sit on stools and sing/rap while our younger dancers do the moves - we once did. I'll be happy". As a new member, Love your channel - stay safe and yes - in all my time of covering 'BoyBands' over the yrs? This song hit - hard. Borahea 💜💜

My take on the amygdala (I copy from what I wrote in another comment, sorry ^^U). I did 2 semesters online on Neuroscience even if it's not my... job. And I've also taken other courses related to language and acquisition and bilinguialism, sociology (as anthropology view and also psychological approach) so I love all brain stuff :D
Its functions are a bit more nuanced. The amygdala (which is in both sides of our brain, so maybe amygdalas? we actually say it in plural in Spanish, as you would say "the eyes", "the ears"...) serve many more functions than only those related to fear or trauma.
For one, we have a circuit responsible for being able to infer the intentions of others from their language, gaze, and gestures and also helps with social interactions.
Another is the function in regulating anxiety, aggression, fear conditioning, emotional memory, and social cognition. (a lesion in the amygdala often results in lack of fear and/or lack of appropriate social behaviour (you don't recognize social clues). -- this is the one you mentioned.
The amygdala processes not only emotions of fear, but it is also involved in stimulation of appetite: food, sex and drugs.
It also has a role in memory, the activation of the amygdala has a modulatory effect on the acquisition and consolidation of memories that evoke an emotional response. -- emotional as in good AND bad, not just traumatic experiences.
The different divisions of the amygdala nuclei have different functions too: regulates behavioral and physiological responses to stress, in physiological responses to stressors and some drug-related stimuli and also psychological responses such as anxiety and stress
So not that simple, either for the MV or for the meaning of the song. ^^ Yoongi is asking his amygdala to function properly and help him regulate his emotions and response to the memories so he can safely store them "away". The amygdala is the good guy! It's the one that helps you learn and move on/adapt/prepare a response next time. But Yoongi seems stuck and he wants to move on.
So my take is (only my opinion, might be mistaken, but that's how I see the MV):
Yoongi as his inner self (our conscience) is locked in his amygdala, but he's telling it to please work properly. He has memory triggers. He wanders in his memories, but it's also paralyzed (the second part of the MV). Memory Yoongi wants to finally go into the amygdala to do what's supposed to do: "consolidate" himself, consolidate that memory and thus letting Yoongi free from the repetitions and the triggers (like the rain).
In the meantime, real time/life Yoongi (the one in green jacket/sweater?) is watching passively what's going on in his brain precisely bc the amygdala is not regulating those clues. At the time that he's eating almonds as if to heal his amygdala (so how we would eat carrots to see better, or spinach to be "strong").
Inside he's lost, outside he's "chill".
PS. The pills (mints, he made that clear lol) were painkillers he was taking, more each time after they debuted... he then got injections for his shoulder and all that until he finally had his operation 2020 :)

I would call this trilogy eye opening. It is about in turn struggling against barriers and oppressive forces DAECHWITA (proffessional), HAEGEUM ( societal) and AMYGDALA ( personal).
.....fun? I found AMYGDALA traumatic. Brilliant but traumatic.

Respond, Cupid. This is a song sung by K-pop girl group Fifty Fifty. The song is currently at number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. Among K-pop groups, they entered the Billboard charts faster than New Jeans and are becoming a hot topic every day.
(It became famous through TikTok, and despite being a rookie group, it is extremely popular all over the world.)
It represents the 4th gen and is
the group with the highest possibility of becoming a group that connects Blackpink and BTS, so please give us a
    lot of interest.
p.s. All songs are good, so I recommend listening to all 5 songs at once.
