5:45 regarding the problem of the hard disk cage creating interference with the cpu cable connected behind the motherboard, it is actually not a real problem. There is an opening in the cage right above the 4+4pin connectors (6:13), so you are supposed to insert the cable inside the cage and get it out of the aforementioned opening, but you will have to sacrifice a 3.5 slot.

For normal cases and boards you can just use [ -shaped and 90-degree angle shaped adapters for most connectors. They've existed for so long now. If I recall correctly, you can find mobo 24-pin, CPU 8-pin, GPU PCIe 8-pin, USB port, SATA port, etc. adapters already.

That makes sense. Unless you want to break-out the Dremmel and a drill. Thats pretty involved, but it is still possible to modify. Thanks for the heads-up! And cable management isa headache for me. 2 great points you made.

Yeah, I think this makes more sense for building from scratch, but if you want to carry existing parts forward it will be tough. I might try the Dremmel lol

You could have installed that drive cage above the power supply. you just need to feed the power cables through the cage and hole on the side of the cage and plug in the cables and then slide the cage into place with the cables already going through the cage.

@@TheProvokedPrawn so far so good. The only annoying part was running the little connector cables for the iCue LINK fans. Definitely worth mapping out your plan first and installing cables before installing fans.
I built in the 6500x and the temps are amazing, connections to the board were dead simple and the front has only an AIO tube set and the stinky 12pin GPU connection.
Apparently MSI is working on cards that take power directly from the board and eliminate the need for their weird adapter on 40 series cards.

I wish manufacturers would put equal effort in making wiring easier as they put towards making it neater.

What are the odds that this motherboard form factor will end up like the BTX motherboard design of 2005?

There is a massive cutout in that cage. Could them psu connectors fit in that gap with cables going through the cage and out to the left?

Really love to see my custom psu cables. Really don't get all the hype for the connections on the back. You still see the gpu and aio cables.

Use a air cooler and use the Asus version. Nothing visible.

Personally I think it's to much hassle cable managing the back connectors and really a few cables coming out the front side of the motherboard doesn't look bad to me but if you're really determined to have a showpiece PC then I can understand why you would go for back connector boards.

Nice one PP. Wonder if the larger back-connect cases might be a little less fiddly. Cheers!

I have a 6500x with a B650m project zero board. I use a Corsair SF1000L psu which is a SFF psu which has short cables. So with this cable length is key as the cables dont need to wrap around the respective slots.

My concern would be the force required to push the 24-pin connector onto the board without damaging the interconnects.

You have two hands I believe, you can support the other side with one hand and plug the cable with the other, for more tutorials please subscribe to this channel 😂

I’m scared to build a back connect build what if it just doesn’t work out and then there will be no more back connect mobos and cases

How long before cable ends have 90° bends for flush applications without the use of adapters? My OCD makes me feel like cutting cable to length and repinning them with the correct bends. I'd probably regret it if I made the attempt, I'm sure. This looks to be a egg and chicken sort of issue that will get sorted out in time.

i would use 180 degree Variant B 12vhphr adapter to hide gpu cable. :)

Fans are at the front, back, top, etc. Wires have to run to the fans. Sooooooo……….not “project zero”.

I checked the msi motherboard project zero it costs 150$ more than my motherboard aorus elite and when you see the ddr5 prices of ram you will spend double and for me it's not worth it
I won't watch my pc case all day so it does not justify the prices

Back connect motherboard cases look a lot wider because of all the space for the cables sticking out the back. the back pannal should not be see through no point having a clen build on one side and a load of messy cables on the back. this video has put me off the idea of back connectors.

Your intro is so damn boring that I opened it 2-3 three times and closed without watching and ended up with the exact issue that you have mentioned here. Ofcoarse my impatience is to be blamed majorly here but damn man, think of a better way to start a video.
