Aarons voice suits this masterpiece of a song so perfectly. Amazing
14 years sober 2021.
The struggle always continues I just embraced it as part of everyday life like dishes and I've been able to keep it below the surface. Complacency is how a lot of people relapse after time, always remember the depths and darkness so it doesn't resurface. It's not gonna work for everyone but sobriety can be obtained thru hard work and commitment. It's easier to give in to temptation but fighting the temptation is worth it.
Anyone out there struggling stay strong there's always a path to better things.
being sober sucks...life if shit whit no drugs or alcohol
The passion they put into this cover will always move me .
We all know Aaron is one of the few guys who could ever pull this cover off!
Their lead guitarist imo plays impeccable live and always impresses me.
I like aaron, but nah they did no justice and mike mushok cant hold a candle to Adam Jones. And Aaron did shit in my opinion.. not because of his talent. Very few rock/metal/prog have the reach Maynard does. Ben from Breaking Benjamin has that range and even he fucks it up. In my opinion at least. I still love staind.
@@toastshalom3542 lmao dam you love you some tool. Aaron did fantastic here
poop head he messed up the lyrics the whole song so how can you say that
He got a large part of the lyrics completely wrong... you sure that counts as "pulling it off"?
@@slavkei well.. yeah..probably, but i think they got the feeling right. No disrecpect ofc!
Legendary performance, lucky af if u got to see it live
If anyone has absolutley no emotion or respect for people than you are not real. Stained music has saved and got me FROM suffering in life~ thanks Stained for having emotions
I Love it ‼️👍🏿
Covering Tool is definetely an act of bravery. Well done
I think they really did it justice and respected the song well hey
Haha, this song is so incredibly simple, there’s literally nothing musical challenging about this song, or most tool songs for that matter, that’s why you can find literally 9 year olds playing all their songs on any instrument, better than this cover too. Tools a fun band sometimes, but they’re haven’t done anything especially musically crazy in their existence. Try Dillinger escape plan, I bet your head will explode or you wont get it.
@@alexanderjames04 you're funny.
@@Y0PPS you spelled “right” wrong
@@alexanderjames04 this song is fairly simple but very Powerful. Other songs by tool are extremely difficult, especially on bass and drums. This song is hard to cover well.
Maynard has an incredible voice I've always loved! Aaron also has an amazing voice and I don't know that many if any other vocalists could have done this song justice, but in my opinion Aaron did a f*cking fantastic job! Thank you Aaron and Staind! Thank you Maynard for this brilliant song to begin with!
One of my favorite covers
I would love to have heard Lane Staley do this cover.
Damn,,,,,, ME TOO!!!
That's been frkin AWSOME
Don’t conjur the dead bro fam
Nah
@@theepie25 nobody cares what you think
7 months sober, new life. Thank you , amazing band, helped me remember. Greatful I'm awake..
I love when good bands cover each other.
Anything his range touches turns to gold
This was already gold
This guys got one hell of a voice
4 years no alcohol...😊😁😊
Let's keep up the sober work guys. Good job
Congratulations keep up the good fight, im 20 years clean off heroin💉 it isn't easy but my kids are what keep me sober.
@@DeathBySnuSnu418 man, you are really strong person. I wish you good luck.
@@user-pk3kk8rk4b thank you so much.
@@DeathBySnuSnu418 5 years in January sober off the junk. Good work brother
@@XrpAndy congrats my dude, keep up the good fight because lord knows at Times it ain't easy.
tool is my favorite band, and staind did them justice on this one, this song gives me the chills
Word
Absolutely
Man this is so good. Aaron Lewis has some of the best vocals ever. I'd love to see Tool, A Perfect Circle, COLD, and Staind on tour. All my favorite bands-but it will never happen.
🙌💯
Right.?? :((((
I'm giving you a thumbs down due to your negativity. You're releasing nonsense into the world. THEY CAN TOUR TOGETHER!!!
A perfect circle is life.. commented 12 years ago wow dude u been wit apc for a while.. tight
reminds me of times I would be completely stoned and drinking in a dark room listening to vinyls. good times.
19 years sober in 2019👍
Well done lad well done . cheers 👍
Iron Revenge Way to go!
Congrats!
Iron Revenge how did you do it?
Congrats
TOOL + Staind = EarGasm!
Colby Cogbill I agree
Couldn’t agree more. Not too many people can cover tool and it be as good and not better. I LOVE TOOL so I’m going to be especially critical. Aaron Lewis is unstoppable
Amen to that!
More like a borgasm.
Stool
I'm a sucker for covers. Especially well done & unique. Crazy how music can make large groups of people feel so intently. One that gets me every time is Closer by Kings of Leon. Smoke before listening and it's a moment.
Love Closer
Only performer who could recapture the essence of this beautiful song.
Sounds pretty authentic, the original is the original however because of how raw and dark the voice Maynard throws at us!!
This is legendary Staind
I've always loved Aaron. He always had that very unusual voice and I think he did a good job covering Tool. I'm a diehard Tool fan and Tool isn't a easy band to cover so my I give a salute to you man!
Zari Valentine sober is one of the easiest songs to learn tho
Ap
Yes that is so, but at least Aaron doesn’t hide in the back while he is preforming live.
Gravy Grizz Why do people say dumb shit like this lmao have you seen tool lately? He was all over the place at the show I saw, Danny is center stage, not Maynard.
He killed it, glad I got to see him in his prime with the family values tour in Houston with Limp Bizkit back in like '99-'00.
So while everyone fights with each other....... This is a really good cover man.
I'm a die hard Tool fanaholic, but this version rocks !
Lol no it doesn't. Staind had good music with Break The Cycle & Fade to Grey....but Aaron Lewis ruined this song. He can't hold a candle to Maynard James Keenan. He should keep Tools music out of his redneck, bigoted mouth. His country music is crap. He should of stayed with Staind. But 'oh no's I gotta prove my redneck cred'. Lmao. He's no Chris Stapleton or Johnny Cash. Most ppl don't know who he is. Lmao! 🤣 He needs to hang it up.
Stained best band I've listened to in a long time many good memories
They're so good 🎵🎵🎵
staind is such a great cover band all those covers from TOOL, Metallica etc. they did a great job on covering some of those bands songs.
why did i judt see this now...??? I never thought of him doing a tool song but it fits so much
Dana Uy - Right?? I love both bands, and just now discovering that Mr. Lewis does a DAMN fine job doing justice to songs I thought were only worth of Rev. Maynard!
Harvey Dustin - Great choice! It’s simple on the guitar (still enjoy playing it), but I love the lyrics and of course, the power Aaron puts into the vocals.
Aaron is the man
Wow, I love acoustic versions. This is elfn awesome......
This is one of the best covers of this song that I have ever heard and it never gets old
No lyrics were forgotten. He frequently changes words around here and there in his cover songs. Who cares? He is free to cover the song how he chooses to suit his style, and this version is amazing. How many acoustic tool covers this good have you heard? People need to lighten up music is just expression of you don't like it don't listen to it.
Michael Richardson What are you talking about? Of course they are changed. Jesus won't you fucking whistle something but the past and done, versus jesus was a fucking whistler. nothing but the past is done.. completely changes the context of the song. Covers are about expressing your own style but staying true to the song. I mean if what you are saying is true why not just play the music and sing your own fucking lyrics... ohhh wait, cause it's not a cover anymore it's just plagiarizing.
+Michael Richardson Ummmm did you even listen to it? He clearly forgets his own words at one point and mumbles them. Song is totaled.
EXACTLY
love the acoustics absolutely love this!
Amazing performance is an understatement!
I can think of two people who can sing this song, Aaron and Maynard. You have to have lived it to sing it, so good. Well done!
Was pleasantly surprised how good this was!
one of the best covers i have heard!!!
Holy Grail for me-Love Staind and Tool and this is one my favs of Tool-so.......
Wow Aaron is the voice of my generation so emotional and powerful honestly goosebumps only other singers that can do that for me are Myles and Layne RIP Layne
What about Justin from Blue October? He does it for me too
Never heard of them I’ll have to check it out
Such a wonderfull bass in the back, somewhat simple bass line for a while, but it makes the song sound complete! Wonderfull song, I love the lyrics, love the bass, love the guitars, love the drums, love the everything.
This gave me goosebumps
Best cover. I love it.
Love this guys voice. Amazing.
wow! great voice!
this made my day ! so glad to have found this cover
Manyard Keenan, Corey Taylor, Chad Gray, and Aaron Lewis have incredible voices of the rock industry.
Masterpiece!!
Why can't we not be censored?!
I don't understand the question and its a double negative.
The original song, by Tool, has words that Staind chose to leave out or change altogether. The reason for the dbl-neg is because the song says, "Why can we not be sober..." I guess I was being facetious. +Kurt B
Stephanie Grigsby lol I see what you did there
maxflores89 I'm glad someone did, lol
Stephanie Grigsby
First MTV removed cursing--
Then they removed music.
chills
The original version is still one of my favorites so I ofc love this!
Pain always distracts us. But having my heart shattered once I still collect all of the pieces. Someone can't.
I frigging LOVE this song 🎵 ❤️ Has a lot of heart and sends different feelings to you ❤
The most Awesome Song Tool ever made. Nicely recaptured here.
+gtxxsn1per95xx lmao why so salty? you tools biggest fan? you chairman and ceo of their official fan club? maybe he's heard every single song and owns every single cd and still thinks sober is their best song. some ppl cant help but be saltier than a salt mine.
+SKITZO LOK lmao thumbs up
+SKITZO LOK well played, well played indeed.
I like 46 &2 way better
Frances Dunaway ..pirson sex is a good one as well on that LP.
Amazing!!! So good acoustic
amazing. just simply amazing
o my god, i loved it.
I am a huge TOOL fan, and Maynard is in a league of his own! But as far as anyone trying to cover this song i don't think anyone could do nowhere near the job that Aaron Lewis done. Although he did butcher some of the lyrics, but he was probaly just putting his own touch on it !!!!! 👏🍻
Why can't we just FUCKING START THIS OVER~I WANT WHAT I WANT ~
Completely agree. I can't really think of any other vocalist that could have pulled it off so well. I'd love to be surprised again though.
I know it's definitely not tool, but I still feel like they friggin killed it 💜
Great cover
This song takes you to the bottom of a human soul!
I don't know how the hell you pulled that off Bobby but thank you so much. Finally peace in my home.
Aaron Lewis doe's the best job ever on nutshell very moving love u man
Dude he should take over for William Duvall
Chad Steadman his covers are epic
You hear upchurch covering that mught chsnge yiur mind
Nathaniel Helwig William Duvall just needs to be fired from aic, they are better with just Jerry
Link??
This is pretty fabulous. As a rabid Tool fan, he does them justice, no doubt!
Great job "Staind" !!!
excellent version! he is a very good and tallented musician! and he chooses his band well! true tallent!
I don't think anyone would be able to do a better cover for this song than Staind...this is just awesome
Staind does the best cover songs I've ever heard. At one point I thought it was James Maynard Keenan himself singing. Great job Aaron Lewis, you kick ass at everything you do.
Oh my! God I love stumbling up on treasures on the tube. Love Maynard but dayumn!
Amen. Pray he has found peace & I miss him.🙏🙏🙏🙏💔💖
Tool is my absolute favorite band ever, and this cover is fantastic.
Whyyyyy can’t we just have an unedited version?
right like wtf
Maynard is one hell of a singer but so is Aaron. Both legends in Alt rock.
love all chords and feel to this
Aaron is the only one i trust w classics like this nutshell etc
I entered a contest to win tickets to see him 1/27/20 in Nashville at the Ryman. Wish me luck! 🤞😁 UPDATE! Bought a $175 ticket for the Ryman 1/27/20, can’t wait!
How was he. I just got a 110$ ticket to see them with disturbed in july
You see no ones gives a shit.
I wish you 💩 luck
Really nice cover. Brings the original tone of the song. I know this is old video, but still great.
Love the acoustics 🤘🏻
Good cover.....Fuckin love Tool
good cover. but it truley astonishes me that some of these people have absolutely no idea this is a Tool song, and have the audacity to say "fuck tool" lol come on.
One simply cant fuck their own Dad..
Gambit The Exile It's not gay if it's your dad, go for it
Rax Pax i know ive seen footage of maynard performing this in 89
Justin Allen truly astonishes me that this douche couldn't get the fucking lyrics right.
It's certainly not a drug/alcohol issue, just extremely poor preparation before performing this masterpiece.
This sounds so good
Great Song !!!!! AMAZING COVER 🤘
Best Tool cover I have ever heard and also my favorite song by Tool, a perfect song for Aaron...!!
T O O L is the best band of the 90s by a mile
Ever! :)
Your an idiot by a mile..stained is way better than tool..arron lewis has a way better voice
Tool sucks ass!! If u really think they're good it's cuz your in the occult..frickn satan worshippers bro..let me guess u think Marilyn mansons good too..smh arron lewis has more talent in his pinky then the leader singer of tool..what a joke
Love this song.
Favorite
Staind is not trying to sound like Tool. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and they're paying tribute to a band they respect. Aaron rocked it out! Staind is so underrated! Aaron Lewis is amazing. If you've ever gone to one of his concerts, you'll know he's far from EMO. I saw him earlier this year, and in between performances, he was making the whole crowd laugh and was BSing around with the crowd. STAIND ROCKS!!!
Thats so cool :) i hope everything was awesome is sounds so cool and such..
Being 27 I grew up on music like this and it can hit you in the places never thought possible.
Music this age is nothing like today ..
Wish things like this was happening..
Just glad "SEETHER" QND others are still trying to keep to the roots of their sound
Aaron Lewis often fudges the lyrics with his covers but non the less they sound fantastic
these guys are great musicians
Holy crap !!!!!! I've never heard this before !! Awesome!!
OCD KICKING IN WHEN HE DOESN'T SING WHAT MAYNARD SINGS >_
I feel it
André Martins Just listen
same. it's original.
because he's not an automaton
fuckin' epic!
great cover. new lyrics though :o
I've always found Aaron and Maynard have a similar sound quality to them!
That Tormented album especially
OMG I love this!!!
Love you guys!!! ❤️❤️❤️
For everyone that thinks its a staind song then just look up "sober" in the search bar... your gunna find tool before you ever find staind
people are fkn dumb
Who cares, you have a PhD in musicians lmao
He changes lyrics in songs on purpose all the time. It was probably on purpose!
He is Amazing! THE BEST!
This song is entrancing.
So awesome, been awhile since I have heard his music, it brings back too memory why I loved staind so much, his voice brings it all together
this isn't his song. I like aaron lewis and staind, but he absolutely butchered the lyrics a few times. I wish he would do another cover and actually know the lyrics.
@@brittanyworman7776nine years later i want you to look back at how r3tard3d your comment is and give me an explanation as to how you could be so insufferable.
whyyyyyyy can't we get the fuckin words right?
amen
ayy lmao
LMAO!!!!
im dead i love you 😂😂😂
It's not that he doesn't know the words. He doesn't like to say them. I find myself having the same problem.
just realised he looks like a slightly wider Dave Matthews...
he does, lol
I see it, haha. Dave looks more like Tom hanks
Hahahaaaaa....good call! LMFAO
Or Stamper
Dude u r by far my favorite artist!
awesome song
