Excellent performance! Smiljanić adds theatricality, bravado and drama to this piece. It is entertaining visually and acoustically, a real pleasure.

Great performance. He can sing that's taken for granted but his great asset is he can act. And act with confidence ..and authority. He's obviously enjoying himself. It's not difficult to imagine him in any number of roles within his range.

In the concert/contest version there is no need in such an exaggerated clown-ish behavior. Well, many baritones sang this aria more or less successfully, but cannot help comparing those with basses (e.g. Pinza, Siepi, Ghiaurov) performances. And to me the comparison is not in favor of most of the baritones...

It's a theatre piece - acting is a part of the performance. And "exaggerated, clownish" is debatable.

He is a great singer I know that as he is my uncle. And you wouldn’t know you would have to make those faces to make the voice
