That's a very easy to follow tutorial. Thanks for sharing. How long do we need to make the single strands so as to get an 18" braided Necklace?

The strands don't really shrink much when you braid them so stay close to the 18" length. Remember that you have a clasp to add as well and factor that into your measurements.

How long should each bead crocheted steand be before braiding to achieve a 16 inch finished product?

I found it doesn't shrink much when braiding so go with 16" in length. Remember your clasp will also add some length.
