Great reaction - hopefully you'll do more Faouzia. You should check out the production video of this song just to see how different it is and how much more it's aimed towards a pop/hip-hop vibe. That said, I think most people prefer these "Stripped" versions because of how amazing her vocals are. There are a lot of great videos for you to check out - covers - and live performances. Thanks!
Yeah she is way underrated, the videos just don't seem to generate the traffic her talents deserve. Apparently her agent at Atlantic died in a car crash just last year. She was born in Morocco and moved to Canada when she was 1. She grew up in Manitoba Canada and is currently pursuing an engineering degree at the University of Manitoba(dunno if she graduated yet). She doesn't rely on showing skin or other "edgy" acts to get attention. That is why Faouzia and Diana are my current favorites.
You'll also notice that she "sanitizes" the lyrics of the covers she does like 'Middle Child' and to a lesser extent 'Slow Dancing in a Burning Room'. This makes her more accessible to a younger audience while showing respect to a broader audience in general. I appreciate that.
You nailed why so many fans prefer these stripped versions of her songs. She can flex her voice so effectively, she doesn’t need a lot of accompaniment. It’s a great song.
Hello, welcome to Faouzia world. Please react to her stripped version. They are the best. Have a look to her live concert from Burton Cummings Theatre. Elon at the end is fantastic.
