We try to be really transparent. We do make lots of mistakes, and we don't want those brand new to RVing to think we do everything right the first time.
hello from the frosty vibrant ozarks sharon and milena! tuff lesson to learn. always start with the easist solution first!! thats a great blessing you solved your problem and finish enjoying your adventure! tight lines and grace be with you!!
Awwww Sharon ,I just love you guys what helpful story and I am so sure you aren’t the first person that has had this happen either. Glad it all worked out for you
We have all done it. If the hot water heater or fridge is not working on propane, I always go to the stove. If the stove does not light, I check my tanks to make sure I have switched them over. So far that has always been the problem. Thanks for your confession and I know you will help others. The other problem we have had was the fridge was not working on propane. I had to turn on the furnace and fire up the heater to clear the line. Our furnace and fridge are on the same side. Refrigerator fired right up after that. When you don’t run your furnace for a while, sometimes you have to clear the line to get propane to our refrigerator. So far so good.Really enjoy your videos and honesty.
Thanks for the honesty but don't beat yourself up too bad. We've all been there with different things when camping. Once or twice a season I find myself walking up to my wife and saying "you're looking at a 100% genuine idiot!" We get a good laugh out of it.
That was an easy fix. My heater wouldn't work either. I threw hundreds of dollars worth of parts at it only to find the gas line was clogged. Blew that out and it fired right up. : - )
For those like me looking for solutons to real problems with these water heaters, I can save you the five minutes it took to watch this rambling tale. She forgot to turn on the gas.
I once checked fuses, crawled underneath to check wiring, and then moved to a campsite with hookups before realizing (the next morning) that I hadn't switched the battery to its ON position. We still had a great weekend.
Sharon hated that she spent time worrying about the water heater only to learn that the propane tank was empty, but she thought she would share the experience because if it's happened to us, it will and has happened to others.
In my humble opinion is a decades-long full-timer there is a product called the Hot rodd. it is an independently standing electric water heater element and I honestly believe that this is a critical piece of equipment to have at the very least in a drawer ready to go because you never know when your hot water heater is going to go out. Our first Hot rodd we were still using it after 5 years straight and when we gave up that camper it was still working. in our new camper, cuz it had a 10 gallon water tank instead of a 6-gallon, we couldn't use our old Hot rodd. I had to get the new 10-gallon one and installed it. Works great! love it!!! The water is hotter using the hot rodd element than using the propane flame. Heres a link to them. And no, they do not sponsee me. Lol Diamond Group (HR6 Universal Hott Rod - 6 Gallon Capacity, Black a.co/d/84wekjZ
Thanks for being so honest, you two lady's are doing great keep it up...

Good lesson- and it’s always a good thing when the problem is an easy one 👍
It was an easy fix, but it was embarrassing not to think of it earlier.

It was frosty here Sunday. We actually got some snow, and it was beautiful!

We were thrilled it was such an easy fix. We posted the video for new RVers; it's a reminder that not every problem costs big bucks to fix.

Thanks for the tip about clearing the line.

I know we all make those mistakes, but it really does make you feel like an idiot.

I'm glad our mistake didn't cost us anything. I hate that you spent big bucks to find it was an easy solution.

Jesh Colin… you feel better after being RUDE?
I’d rather be a Rambler than a rude 🫏
Thank you..Yes..for me my trailer is always a learning curve..
If you read the other comments, you will know that everybody makes mistakes. We're all doing the best we can.

I guess we all make mistakes. Thanks for sharing yours.
We always look for the hardest solution first, why is that? Glad to hear it all worked out though.
It worked beautifully.
As my mother would say, "Sometimes it's the operator."

Easy mistake. we always want to assume it is something more difficult!
We were thrilled it was an easy fix.
Hot water does not need heating😂
We get that all along. It's a hard habit to break.
