We do something similar. We have a tote on the pick up tailgate and a pump, with float control, driven off a battery to pump into the 275 gallon tank. I do like the idea of wiring into the truck lights with a 4 pin connector.

Could you give me a sense how you setup that hitch-mounted sap suction dump? That is SO cool and I have this exact UTV so figure it would be an easy mod...great video!

I use a 120 gllon flat bottom tote on a trailer behind my tractor. I have 3 Y valves set up so i can use 1 pump to fill or drain the trailer tank. I use the same take to drain my ibc totes as well as the large port at the top that I fill with bags.

Thanks for the video. I enjoy all of them! I like your setup. I have a Honda 750 SxS the bed of which will fit 9 7-gallon water jugs very nicely. This worked well until I decided to increase the number of taps on my back 80 acres to over 80. On a good sap day my 63 gallon capacity is easily exceeded necessitating multiple trips. Hard to do when I also have a boil going. We had the great sap run of 2020 last week and I ended up using my 16 gallon bulk storage barrels (I have eight of those) for hauling sap. Five of those fit in the SxS bed. I was able to haul more sap but still required two trips. Taking those off the SxS bed when full is a workout for my 70 year old back so a setup like yours is very appealing. Do you offer that hitch tank for sale? Thanks again!

We dont build/market/sell these. I'm not sure ow much demand there would be for them. Also, food grade 12V pumps are hard to find. I'm so glad you've enjoyed the video!

I like your pump system !
I have an identical tank, on a homemade carrier, on the 3 point hitch of my tractor. I have it set up so that when I drop the hitch the whole thing sets right on the ground. Pour from 5 gal buckets into tank. Then a similar transfer pump to pump up into the holding tank at sugar house. 28 taps. Central Vermont. Gathered 50 gallons today.

Sounds like a very nice system, big tank!

Thats what I was thinking of when I aquire more acreage. An IBC tote on the back of the Kioti. Then just fork it on to a stand next to the shack and gravity feed it to where ever. Tractors are so awesome.

I carry 5 gallon buckets back & forth. But may have to do something else this year. Since I'll be tapping some more trees. This is only my second year of doing it, although I remember making maple syrup when I was a little kid.

Are y’all going to be doing videos of the dauntless actually evaporating

You might have seen it by now, but there are several boiling videos here, www.smokylakemaple.com/knowledge-base/backyard-set-up-series-starcat-and-dauntless/ . They are UA-cam videos, but they are well organized on our site.

Dang man that is the best!! Will be putting one together for next year. We have a65 gallon tank like that in the bed of our Polaris ranger and have to hop up in the bed to fill it with 5 gallon buckets.

You'll love a system like this. Four people can be pouring buckets into the hitch tank at the same time, zero spills and no climbing!

Good video. I love the comedy at the end. Can't wait to come and look at evaporators after the 2020 season.

We have a 42 gallon tote with 2, 5 gallon pails cut in the lid. Cut the pails in half and use 2 12 inch filters u can get from CDL fit in 5 gallon pails. Then we have that piped into our 525 gallon tank on an ag dump wagon. Use a 12 volt Milwaukee transfer pump to pump from tote to tank. 558 taps collected 428 gallons today all on buckets. We use all stainless fittings and food grade hose

Very nice. I'll have to check out the Milwaukee transfer pump, sounds like a handy tool!

I like your setup. For me, I have a 35 gallon tank on the back of my ATV. I dunno the bags in directly, but then I gave a bilge pump inside the tank to pump it into my main tank. It works great. However just use alligator clips ro your battery with a switch for turning in and off. This works pretty easy for me.

Very nice! Have you found a source of a decent food grade submersible pump?

Remedy to losing sap - use spiles with tubes lol. And I use a small utility trailer that is low and pour the buckets into a food grade 50 gallon bucket on the back. Comes out of a PVC spigot on the bottom. Keep it simple!!

I use a 35 gallon tank like yours on the back rack of my atv and just go tree to tree dumping the bags in. What kind of pump are you using to pump from the bottom tank to your large tank? If you go to my UA-cam channel you can see my setup as I have changed it through the years. Hope you have a great season!

We actually use a grease-less/oil-less bilge pump, 12v.
