I just graduated as a cardiac sonographer. Associates degree, was no reason to get the bachelors because the pay won’t make a difference. No lie this is a hard modality and I’ve cried so many times lol
Lol! Congrats! You must feel so relieved! I can’t relate with the program but I was with my friend through it all and I saw the hard work she had to put in. So happy for both of you for completing this degree!
@@breannahudson6581 hey breanna, I made a bunch of charts for physics class. I always rewrote all of my teachers lectures so that I would better understand it. You can reach out to me personally anytime you have questions or need help.
@Aaliyah Ferreira hey Aaliyah, first you wanna figure out which sonography modality you want to go into. I determined mine by watching a lot of UA-cam and being on google. Then look into the pay and jobs. So to answer you questions …General ultrasound, OB/GYN ultrasound have a lot of job opportunities; however, I don’t know the pay but I have heard it’s less than cardiac sonography which is what I’m into. Cardiac sonography jobs are over saturated and can be a lil hard to find a job unless you are willing to move or travel, or you can wait around for a job to pop up, which they will. My modality starting pay in wisconsin is about $32 per/hr. The south pays wayyyyy lessss! Hope this helps
Hi Ann, I work in HR and recruit for Sonographers/RN's/HC professionals in the medical device (Cardiology) industry. Your channel is awesome and I love watching it to help myself understand the day to day of certain HCP roles. Thanks for all that you do :)
Thanks for sharing this. I work in radiology and have some experience in the cardiac cath lab and with the shortage of workers many employers are now willing to pay for you to continue your education.
I’m about to graduate in May and was so conflicted on what medical tech program I wanted to choose and I stumbled upon this career and it was highly advertised in my city and this video has got me hooked! It’s literally everything I could see myself doing.
Thank you so much for this video, I'm currently on my last a&p class to get my AS in science. It is a lot of schooling, and the classes are very hard, especially chemistry and A&P, thankfully my physics professor was easy, however it does require a lot work put in. For anyone wondering, cardiac sonography is more advance than diagnostic sonography.
Hi I'm from Boston as well, and I'm currently working on graduating from my MA program in 2 months, but I also have plans on going to back school to become a general sonographer. I planned out taking the prerequisite classes this same year during the fall and spring semesters. I'm so excited to start my journey working in healthcare and sonography has definitely something that im super excited about learning.
Thank you so much for this helpful information! I am going to be studying to do just this in the Spring of 2023 and this is a totally new, opposite end of the career spectrum for me so to hear this truly helped me! I appreciate! Y’all are beautiful and awesome!
Omg I’m so happy I found this video!!!! I was under the impression that I needed to do the four year!!! Thank you so much! I’ll definitely check into this for Louisiana but I’m so glad I found this!!!!
hi i wanted to ask is cardio sonographer harder to become then other sonographers .... how to become a cardio sonographer do you learn it in sonography school or do you have to do extra specialization or something in it after school
Nope cardiac sonography is within sonography school so it is a separate major than general or diagnostic medical sonography. Both programs can be taken to earn your associates or bachelors sometimes masters but it is rare for sonography
I'm cardiac sonographer with 4 years of experience... I'm from india...Can u please guide me how to apply for jobs in UK??? What are the steps to apply or search to work in UK?
I am currently in a cardiovascular sonography program and was wondering how can I become a neurosonographer is there any certification I would need to take of do i have to go back to school all over again?
Hey Aaliyah. You’re actually in the same boat I am in. I am also in a cardiovascular sonography program and want to do neuro whenever I get out. turns out the ARDMS discontinued the neuro specialty exam in I think 2017 or 2018. You can still become one, but you’ll have to cross train and shadow someone so they can sign off for you to become a neurographographer. let me say it is quite hard to find workers who are specializing in this field just because they discontinued it but is not impossible.
Hello. Can you tell me what program I can do to become a cardiovascular technologist? Because I would like to know if I can I take the same course like you and be trained?
I believe that the majority of school have pre-requisite classes that you must take before you apply to schools. The schools that I looked into accept people with bachelors degrees that are not in science but they expect people to have also taken classes like anatomy, medical terminology, physiology, and physics to name a few. Classes may vary depending which school you’re interested in. I Hope this helps ! :)
How the the programs cost? I want to just get an assioates and then do whatever else training is nessary because I don’t want to be in student loans lol
Absolutely 🤗 worth it ...you can specialize in Adult,Peds,Fetal Echo and/or all 3... but keep in mind you'll be focused on 1 organ (most people want to see a variety of organs so they do the general track ). Hope this helps ☺️
You learn general, OBGYN and vascular in sonography school since it’s the most common kinds. At least the schools I’ve looked into that’s what you learn. Then you can get specializations I believe.
I’m trying to figure out if I should do Cardiovascular technology or Echocardiography. I’m taking my prerequisites which are the same in both. Do you know if the hourly rate in Georgia is about the same for both careers? Any info is helpful.
Hi ! I spoke to my friend and she mentioned typically you do not get commission. She works for two big hospitals. It may vary from state to state on these protocols.
Agree I’ve never heard of commission based echo techs. Even though your taking about private practices, I still don’t think that’s true from my experience
I will graduate as cardiac sonographer may 2022 I am doing my clinical training in hospital. But after I start to going hospital and see different patients I am regrating to choose this program. PLEASE I need help. Can I find different job? I am always crying
Hi, the schooling requires a lot of work to be put in, I cant say if its hard because I have never done it and what maybe hard for someone maybe easy for others but if you enjoy what you are learning it becomes manageable. Hope this helps! -Ann

i want to be a traveling cardiac sonographer or radiation therapist. is that possible?
Yes
That’s exactly what I want! To be a Traveling Sonographer :) still not sure if I should do Echo or General
@@kararahn4067 I want to work international once I graduate and build up experience. Hopefully that is possible
Yes

Love from india
Is there any chance this job replaced by AI in the future?
Salary ? Difficulty getting a job as a new grad?
Hello. Can you tell me what program I can do to become a cardiovascular technologist? Because I would like to know if I can I take the same course like you and be trained?
Do you get paid more for being certified in different areas? So like for being able to do adult and pediatric ?
Yes
The more registries the better. That means more opportunities for jobs. Employers love a well rounded sonographer
But what if an individual already has a Bachelors, but it is not in science?
I believe that the majority of school have pre-requisite classes that you must take before you apply to schools. Where I’m at in NC There’s a new certificate program with Duke university I am going to apply
Wish I can get trained on the job 🥺🥺💕😂 but thts a fairytale life
Do you think it's best to specialize or to go general??

echo pays more
do echo techs get a commission or percentage from doing exams/scans on patients? I heard this is true for a private clinic?

Some places offer a certain percentage based on the number of echoes performed.

Is getting a certificate ok instead of a associate?
Is the schooling hard?

Do you have a lot of paper work everyday?
It’s not too much it’s more if you work in a private clinic than in a hospital
