I was going through a box of old music and found the Burl Ives version of this song. I recognized the melody but the lyrics (cherry, chicken, ring, baby) didn't seem quite right. I think I'd heard this version (cherry, chicken, baby, story) somewhere and it was hanging in the back of my memory somewhere.
