Wonderful trip Gerry . Beautiful part of the country and what a day you got for the first part of the journey . Loved the mist rolling in 👍great share my friend 😉👍👍👍
I'm actually planning to camp and hike in this place so its really invaluable to have a video like this to get a feel for the place. Happy you found your camera too, especially having to go up in those conditions! Thanks for making such a video.
There is some brilliant walking in those mountains all the way from Glenveagh along to Slieve Snaght👍 It has a really remote feel and some quite complex ground in places and it is rare to meet someone else (in my experience) when walking here.
Another beautiful video. Wow that is some perseverance with the camera hunt. GPS is a marvel for that kind of stuff apart from everything else. I had a great day on the Aghlas in September last year, and the wind was every bit as brisk as you had there, but thankfully milder! The only challenge was arriving at the stepping stones at the outflowing river from Lough Altan...and finding that they weren't even visible due to the amount of rain the last couple of weeks. A bit of a detour was needed downstream until a bridge was met, but it all adds to the adventure! Looking forward to being back again in Donegal before too long. thanks for the great images and hard work with putting these things together.
Cheers, without GPS I don't think it would have been found. Beautiful walking all around that area of Donegal which I think could explore for a lifetime :-) Enjoy when you return :-)
That was a good one gerry surprising to. I wasn't expecting that at the end. What a result! Splendid mountains around there mind you - Dooish? Now I like that name. I think I'll call this one: Chronicles of the Lost Camera. All the best for the week ahead. Mark
Cheers Mark, I wasn't expected that either and 'Chronicles of the Lost Camera' would be apt. It was a beautiful trip and i was probably more annoyed that i didn't get to record the full trip rather than loosing the camera, though it was good to get it back :-)
You're right Gerry, "It's all good"! Love, love, love your videos. Ireland captured my heart years ago and I feel such joy tagging along on your journeys. You really do love Mother Nature in all her forms ... including high winds, rain, cold. Totally shocked that you did not sleep in a tent. 😃
Cheers Kriss, I think I love some forms of nature slightly less than others though🌨😊 That was a great trip, even though I lost (and found) my camera - all goes to make memories and for me the videos are a great way of having some form of record of these trips.
Ahh Gerry one of your very best yet. What a beautiful stunning place. Love your choice of music to go with the wonderful vistas. I absolutely love these adventures of yours, thankyou for sharing. Happy new year to you and all the best for 2020. So glad you found the camera!
Great video beautifully shot and great pics . I've only ever been there once and it was too brief , I visited as a tour driver . I must get back up myself on my own time . I was delighted ya found your camera . Lovely choice in music also . Your some man to camp out like that in December I was at least expecting to see a decent tent lol . Safe travels I look forward to viewing more of the videos now .
Seamus, I only got my replacement camera a couple of weeks ago as the one I lost and found was unrepairable after 5 days in the Donegal weather :-) A warm sleeping bag is the key and keeping an eye on the weather so there will be no rain :-) Take care.
Beautifully filmed Gerry , some stunning views around the area . So glad you found your camera I would be gutted if I lost any of my camera gear . I just hope the weather hasn't done any lasting damage atb Dave....
Brilliant footage, what a stunning scenery, can't wait to be back to Donegal one of these days !! Glad you finally found your camera, reminds me of that time I lost my phone in the Sheeffrys last year, I searched for it for about 3h in the dark , then went back the next day and found it after only a few minutes and could even take a few photos with it !!
Hi Gerry, Glad to hear you found your new camera. Good on you going back for a third search. A long drive and possible quite a long days hiking in what looked like very poor weather conditions. You're a determined fellow. Almost forgot, loved the video and the music selection 🎉🎉✌👌👍
Thats incredible Gerry, your as hard as nails and as persistent as a collie with a stick! well done mate. One day I would love to climb Errigal it looks pretty awesome. Carry on filming brother :) Tim
Cheers👍 it was cool to return and find my camera. Link to this route: www.outdooractive.com/en/route/hiking-route/northwest-ireland-and-lakelands/donegal-glenveagh-national-park-circuit/133252667/
It really is such a beautiful County. The mountains, lakes, rivers, forests, and what a spectacular coast...If they had 'Donegal has it all' on their welcome mat and signage, you wouldn't scoff at the convenience of the slogan, you'd say 'Yes, it absolutely has.'
You can't keep a good man down Gerry. This is wonderful. I really appreciate your introduction/explanation at the start setting the scene and then your commentary throughout. Looks quiter isolated. You appear to have this whole world to yourself. That was good going finding the camera! Weather looks really rough at the end!
Cheers Tom, totally on my own over the 2 days with the mountains all to myself. It was great to find the camera and worth walking 5 hours in the drizzle and mist :-)
Good morning. It is from my friend, Japan. Thank you for your very splendid picture. Splendid technically high evaluation おはようございます。 私のお友達、日本からです。 とても素晴らしい映像ありがとうございます。 素晴らしい技術、高評価
Great video, Thank you 😊 👍 Poxy about your camera though 😭 I was just wondering about your footwear, did they manage to keep your feet dry? I would also like to go hiking in Donegal mountains but I'm wondering about footwear as I know how soggy bogland can be...I have wellies 😂 Do you have any recommendations? Also the bivy is a great idea for the windy conditions, less resistance, which do you use and is it heavy? Love the idea of being able to lie out under the stars! (once it's not going to rain lol! Did yours have a face shield/screen or just open? Also....lol...last question 😂😅 is there any actual paths as such or how do manage to not get lost- tips for newbies? Ps, I did see your map at the end but I don't think it would make a lot of sense to me😕😅 Thank you!!! 😊
Sorry I just thought of another question, and in fairness you do seem like the guy to ask!!😁 😁 If you were going to use a tent, in crazy Donegal weather 😂 which one would you go for? Like is there one that would definitely stay standing in the wind and also keep you dry? Thank you so much!!! 😊
My persistence paid off in getting the camera back and I eventually got a brand new one as it was unrepairable due to its time alone in the Donegal weather💦 I have heard that people do wear wellies whilst hiking. I usually wear hiking boots as they give ankle support on rough ground and to keep my feet as dry as possible. I use an Alpkit Hunka Bivy (weighs less than 500grams) as I love lying out under the stars and yes it is just open, though it can be adjusted to give a smaller opening, I do use a tent if it is going to rain. No paths in the Bluestacks so navigation is important - either using a paper map and compass or an outdoor app such as Alltrails (or both).
There are loads of great reviews of 1 or 2 person tents for wild camping out there in UA-cam land which would probably be way more helpful than anything I could say. I suppose it is all about balance - the better the tent the greater the cost - and what you are going to use your tent for - if it is out of winter and in okay weather conditions then a smaller budget would probably work. If you want something that will hold out in tougher weather conditions then be prepared to spend more. Hope this helps😊
Eventually got it back after some studying of my gps track and working out where i had stopped to put on my headtorch for a couple of minutes and there it was :-)
Your video footage is great, I like it. Especially with your mixture of music you put to it afterwards. Thank you very much. But you should try to get a micro which is near to your voice. I hardly couldn’t understand anything of what you have said in this video. ;) That’s a pity. 👍
I agree, sound is always difficult, especially in the windy weather we have here in Ireland. Have made some adjustments which will hopefully help for newer videos👍
As you might expect after 5 days sitting out on the Donegal Hills in the wet it wasn't in great shape. Fortunately I had accidental damage cover (the report said it had liquid inside😊) so I got a brand new camera which I am still using, though it does take a battering out on the hills.
Wonderful trip Gerry . Beautiful part of the country and what a day you got for the first part of the journey . Loved the mist rolling in 👍great share my friend 😉👍👍👍
Cheers Konrad, there are few more spectacular places in Ireland I think :-)

@@gerrymcveigh A pleasure gerry. I can fully sympathize with your annoyance. Still you managed to bring us a great hike and bivvy.
You are certainly doing a worthwhile job Gerry. Hope you are well and we will all be on the mountains in time.
Cheers, all in good time :-)

Beautiful scenery as always. Thank you so much. So soothing to the soul.
Cheers Shirley, it certainly soothed the soul being there, even in the wind and cold :-)
Went out today and the rivers were like that lough Gerry, a sheet of glass, beautuiful. A belated happy new year to you.
Cheers, the stillness was something to behold and it was just so calming to be there and take it all in :-) Happy new Year :-)
Greetings from the North coast Gerry, beautiful scenery and music...

Behave Gerry..lots of chuckles😉

Beautiful scenery again, I'd say you were gutted , I would be, :( but you got it back, hope it comes back to life for you :)

Tim, would love to see a film of you climbing Errigal. You keep on filming too :-)
Fantastic footage - you even made the noodles looks great! lol.. hope the camera's in good order. atb Sinco.
Cheers Sinco, the noodles are always great - 2 minutes and ready to go :-)
It looks like it was a perfect day for hiking :))
it was pretty much perfect, though the wind could have been a little bit calmer higher up to make it perfect :-)
A beautifully shot and inspirational video. Especially loved the epilogue. Would you have a link for the trail map, please?

Lovely stuff.

Do you get to see a lot of birds there Gerry the grass looks good for them birds, to nest and all
Adrian, not many this time of year. There would be ground nesting birds, ravens, and birds of prey such as the Golden Eagle.
