I had the exact problem with my small freezer. I immediately went to the problem-solver, "UA-cam" and found this video. I ordered the part from Amazon that you used, followed your video, and within 10 minutes I was back in business. Perfect!! Thank you, you saved me $300 and a lot of frustration. Gotta' love the folks who know what they are doing...

Hello Kelson. I have the same brand freezer from Lowes. 2 years old and it quit. Of course all the food spoiled because we didn't realize it had turned off. Mine has a run capacitor, but I just removed it and installed a 3 n 1 following your instructions. It seemed confusing until I found your video. The freezer works perfectly as of about 10 minutes ago, Thanks!

Would have made a much more informative video to have showed the electrical setup from the factory, with the black cover in place and the start relay still mounted on the 3 pins coming out of the compressor....because if it's your first time, many, like me, don't know that start relay simply pulls OFF the 3 pins to expose them. I spent a while looking at all the push on connectors on the relay wondering WHERE the heck the Bl/Wh/Rd wires of the Supco connect.
FINALLY watched enough other videos that I 'got' that stuff pulls off and throw away, and the new part wires push directly on to the 3 pins coming out of the compressor case.....which is why those odd connectors are on the bl/wh/rd wires of the new part. Even then, there isn't a 'wiring diagram' on the package.....the instructions just say connect the black to common, the white to start pin, the red to the run pin.
BACK to UA-cam and I found the pattern is how you have it connected...black to the top pin, white to the lower left, red to the lower right.....although it also appears that some compressors flip the triangle upside down.....(picture a down arrow head).....so you have to watch out for those type patterns as well (black to the bottom, white to the upper right, red to the upper left)

Good feedback. Yes the old starter relay just pulled off the compressor pins after tugging on it for a bit. It's been 1 month since install and it is running like a champ.

@@chabakkd Yep....ours is running fine as well. We have 6 small (7-9cuft) freezers as we raise most of our own food (including a 430 pig I'm cutting on today), so I bought a spare to keep on the shelf in case one quits in the future. Cheap insurance !

Thank you, this video was very helpful and fixed my compressor problem ! .. for about a weeks time. I bought a 2nd capacitor, but now the compressor only clicks once when initially plugged in and no sort of effort to turn on. I used a volt meter to test the compressor and it seems to be reading fine. Any other suggestions?

I just did mine. But not sure it's working. It's freezing outside ,and it's outside so hmmmm. Lol
    I m 50 % hearing impaired. Is it suppose to hum a little. I can't hear anything.
FYI: on the plug the white is neutral and the black is hot.
It can make a difference. Depends on the item the plug is attached to.
I hooked the wires as you prescribed. Leaving it plugged up over night and will check in the morning.
Green Light on freezer is on. Maybe I'll use my mechanics stethoscope to see if it's humming tomorrow.
Why are they saying only use it temporarily?

honestly you need to take this video down this is how homes explode your putting a start relay on a r600a unit they need special start relays that are not an ignition source, now that you put that on you now have an explosion hazard. r600a is highly flammable and you just gave it a fuse.

@@insungchoe9015 You should be able to find the Amp and Volts spec for the unit. Just multiple A x V = Watts. Convert Watts to HP by dividing W by 746 (W/746=HP)

I know this video is getting older every day, but I just installed one of these 3-in-1 devices in my chest freezer (exact same freezer and 3-in-1) and I have a question about the run capacitor. This freezer has a run capacitor. Do you really not need to have the run capacitor attached to the 3-in-1? Just toss it? If you don't need the run capacitor, why does the 3-in-1 have an option to attach it? I thought maybe it needed the run capacitor for some kind of timing circuit to keep the compressor from running for too long, but I don't really understand analog electronics.
edit: I've just been googling to try to find out more about the run capacitor...
Please see the second post on this page: www.doityourself.com/forum/air-conditioning-cooling-systems/470983-purpose-run-capacitor.html
I know that page is about A/C, but it's the same cooling method as a refrigerator/freezer. It looks like you can leave the run capacitor out, but you're hurting the compressor if you do. I suggest wiring the run capacitor into the circuit, as suggested by the 3-in-1's instructions. I did try it without the run capacitor and it seemed to work fine. I wired-in the run capacitor and it also worked fine (couldn't tell any difference, with or without the run capacitor), but it just seems more correct to have it in there to perhaps prolong the life of the compressor.

hi Sherman, I know that the 3 in 1 functions as a run capacitor , so yes you can toss your existing run capacitor and just wire in the 3 in 1. However the 3 in 1 is pretty cheap, so it's entirely possible the original run capacitor that came with your freezer is a higher quality than the run capacitor included in the 3 in 1. However if your run capacitor is bad, and you wire it in with your 3 in 1, then your freezer may still not work. My suggestion install the 3 in 1, once your freezer is working buy another identical 3 in 1. And monitor the temp in the freezer if your worried about the food inside getting ruined etc. when the 3 in 1 burns out, install the new one, you can keep doing this until the compressor gives out.
