LOVE this video -(I actually love them all) - using this one with our central staff (Special Education department) to move forward the integration is not inclusion narrative. Thank you for putting the time and energy in to make this concept and learning accessible!
This really got me thinking about the state of English support in my school. We used to have a diverse international student body, but since covid we have turned into a monoculture, which all too often reverts to its native tongue whenever not compelled to do otherwise. I fear all too often we teachers see weak English as a particular problem, to be referred to a specialist, rather than a systemic problem that we all need to address. Your video reinforced my intuition that individual interventions, though undeniably useful and fruitful, are not sufficient to compensate for the lack of daily individual interactions that once accelerated English proficiency among our student body . Something more needs to be done, not for individuals, but for the entire community. Every teacher needs to become an ESL teacher. Every class, every advisory meeting, every assembly, every extra-curricular activity needs to empower and encourage students to use and improve their English. In short, we all need to be building these skills into our day to day interactions, and encouraging students to see the value therein. thank you for your lovely video bringing these inchoate musings into focus for me. Your channel always inspires me, but this one really gave me the gut punch I needed.

MERCI 👏
Interesting thoughts here. Suggestion…music overpowers your voice. It’s hard to listen to both.
Time to do some unlearning!
