My college chamber choir sang this at our concert a few weeks ago. Thank you Jake Runestad for this amazing and inspirational music. Pure talent :)

Jake Runestad is out here giving us The bass lines we deserve. But more seriously I love your music, it's all so romantic and it builds up so beautifully to it's crescendo, and they all sound so different yet like you: Let My Love Be Heard, Why the Caged Bird Sings, Please Stay, and this one, they all this amazing lyricism which is beautifully complimented by their compositions and how you can make even softer more delicate sounds so powerful. I really love your music, I've been in chorus for so long and it's music like yours that inspired me to want to write my own chorus pieces. If you don't mind me asking how did you come up with this particular piece?

I feel like “My Soul Is a Candle” would play as someone’s soul leaves their body and goes to heaven. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Gives me chills.

The college choir I'm in just performed this a couple months ago. It very quickly became one of my favorite choral works, one I definitely hope to perform again some day!

Goodness, where do I begin? I love how soft and smooth the first movement ("Yield to Love") is, and how suddenly it switches to a more bouncy song ("Wild Forces"). I love the chords there, and the strings are honestly wonderful all throughout the entire video. "Wild Forces" reminds me of the medieval era; very beautiful! The 3rd movement ("Wondrous Creatures") is cute and funny, and the soloist is great! The way he sings the lyrics with such a drama, theatre voice-- it makes the entire song even better. "The Heart's Veil" has such a beautiful sound, and changes the feel of the piece completely. It starts off melancholy sounding, then gradually gets more and more eerie (in a good way). My imagination goes wild with this one! Gorgeous soloists in "My Soul is a Candle"! I love how the words string together and bounce when they sing "only the glorious duties of life we will have." And oh my gosh all the chords and parts when they sing "My love" are outstanding! I love how the soloists compliment each others' voices. Out of every movement to this piece, "My Soul is a Candle" has to be my favorite. "The Hope of Loving" is very touching and the words have a lot of meaning to them; very lovely. The strings were fantastic; great choice, Mr. Runestad. Every time I listen to this, I pleasantly smile whenever "My Soul Is a Candle" plays. That movement makes my heart feel like it's floating. They sound like actual angels. Great work, Mr. Runestad. Beautiful piece!
