      @@bomboclaat6706 there have been no confirmed human fatalities by sand tiger sharks and only 40 or less unprovoked, non-fatal attacks. They are pretty darn docile!

    Probably the best dive video I’ve seen so far. You’re so brave. There were so many sharks out there and The Great White was just majestic. Beautiful!

    i’ve watched a bunch of these types of videos. this is undoubtedly one of the best. it feels like a dream. what an absolutely amazing sight to see. to top it off mr white stopped by for a cameo. what luck!!! amazing video. i loved it.

      Lemons basically look like downscaled Great Whites.

      @@oreldm Makos look a bit more like Great Whites, but probably the closest in terms of looks would be the Salmon shark, which almost looks exactly like a smaller GW.
      I flubbed a bit by confusing the Lemon with the Salmon.
      Either way around, the sharks around the bait ball in this video were definitely Sand Tigers.

    I love this video -- you always hear about how rarely sharks attack humans, but somehow with Al the media it's hard to really believe until you see something like this. Absolutely beautiful.
    Of course, you also need to keep respectful and realize that there's always a chance of things going wrong, like with any wild animal.

    That’s a lot of raggedy ragged tooth sand sharks. Good size too. Then top it off with a Great White. Wow. I did this dive once. Very cool but not this many. Very cool.

    Awesome. Congratulations on this once in a lifetime video of the Great White. I have been on the Papoose many times and have never seen anywhere near the # of Sand Tigers you filmed. Really really cool video. Guess it's time to head back to NC for some more diving.

      Come join us Steve! While we tend to have sand tigers year-round, the larger volume of sharks are on our wrecks in the winter when they are preparing to pup.

    Looks like mostly female sand tigers. As someone else commented, they are probably there to drop their pups. The Great White certainly put them into perspective! What a privilege to see! Although, my wetsuit would definitely have needed a good scrub out!

      The sand tiger shark is one of a few shark species that can gulp air and appear motionless. This is during the winter months when most of the females are all pregnant and pact together in a sliver for protection.

    Wow!! Amazing video! I never saw that many sand tigers on any NC wreck! I know it changes year to year, but I think they congregated on the Atlas last time I was there there. I only remember seeing 2 on the Papoose. It's been too long since I've been down there, need to change that!

      Let's change that Chris! The large congregations can be found on a majority of our wrecks here, in the winter months; December thru April.

      I'm thinking to get my son certified maybe next year and then I can get back into it. Can't wait to see his reaction to diving with sharks like that!
