That’s a lot of raggedy ragged tooth sand sharks. Good size too. Then top it off with a Great White. Wow. I did this dive once. Very cool but not this many. Very cool.
Awesome. Congratulations on this once in a lifetime video of the Great White. I have been on the Papoose many times and have never seen anywhere near the # of Sand Tigers you filmed. Really really cool video. Guess it's time to head back to NC for some more diving.
Come join us Steve! While we tend to have sand tigers year-round, the larger volume of sharks are on our wrecks in the winter when they are preparing to pup.
Amazing dive!!!! Thank you for sharing. Also thank you for not putting some dumb song over the cool sounds of the dive. I'm guessing that was a 9' to 11 foot White. Amazing
Looks like mostly female sand tigers. As someone else commented, they are probably there to drop their pups. The Great White certainly put them into perspective! What a privilege to see! Although, my wetsuit would definitely have needed a good scrub out!

The sand tiger shark is one of a few shark species that can gulp air and appear motionless. This is during the winter months when most of the females are all pregnant and pact together in a sliver for protection.
Wow!! Amazing video! I never saw that many sand tigers on any NC wreck! I know it changes year to year, but I think they congregated on the Atlas last time I was there there. I only remember seeing 2 on the Papoose. It's been too long since I've been down there, need to change that!
@@instigatorfishingdiving9760 Haha! I definitely want to change that! We were always down there mid-summer, so maybe that's why the congregations were smaller. Absolutely stunning, from the bait ball to the hundreds of sand tigers, to the great white. Best shark diving video I’ve seen off NC
I can agree with the bait ball and the sand tigers, but I didn't see the Great White!😢
