Many people look at this as a waste of perfectly good functional vehicles. However, I'd like to see police do this to vehicles seized from criminals, especially if they've been used in "drive by" shootings or kidnap murders. A member of the victims family should be the one to start it up and "RED LINE" it.
What was the point of doing this to a prob perfect car that could be sold or used. Just who are these two dorks anyway, seem to me to be a couple of wastes of spaces to me.... Some people have just got NO BRAINS AT ALL. The two prob watched that broke back mountain film, together.....
its not called a suicide hood in fact its the complete opposite, its called a safety hood because if it becomes unlatched while driving it will not flip up and hit the windshield. Just a little fact there
Even in Russia, the utilised cars were not scrapped like this, even if they couldn't even move. Most parts that were in good condition were resold. No matter, Jaguar or Lada. And some cars in good condition were resold entirely, for a bargain price, allowing some really poor people to own a car.
Why did the car last so long? It was a classic.....a fucking classic. Pure quality just destroyed and crushed......what the actual fuck was wrong with the person that traded the car in and most of all the fucking government during this time.
Don't hate, these guys are just doing a job. once the vehicle has been submitted for cash for clunkers and the money paid then by law it MUST be trashed.
What exactly is a cash for clunkers deal? I never really paid attention that what it was supposed to do, do they purposely blow up cars so people can get new ones or what?
i have one question for everyone out of america, are cars still betraded like this? i know its 2012 now but im curious if they still do that, because i fucking hate it
I'm pretty certain many parts on the 87 xj6 were manufactured in Germany, including the engine. Some of the Lucas parts have made in Germany right on them. The XK engine was not designed by Germany, just manufactured there. It's an OLD engine that dates back. The body was definitely designed by Italy's Carrozzeria Pininfarina. It was the first time that a Jaguar was styled with input from outside the company. But all this doesn't make it any less British.

To all the sentimental mentals on here waxing about how tragic this is: this is a 1987 Jag, commonly used in destruction derbys and "banger racing". They can be bought for a few hundred quid in the UK. The title says it had a coolant leak and smokey engine. This is not a "classic car" - its junk pure and simple. I don't agree by the way with the whole clunkers thing - I think its obscene because this is wilfull destruction - but be realistic - this really is a junker.
More insane than the C4C program itself is the fact that people bought into it and traded some preety nice and useful cars that could have been sold out of courtesy to poorer families or car enthusiasts. Killing these cars was pollution galore not when they were in regular operation taking people to and from wherever.
While I do disagree with the "Cash For Clunkers" program, I don't see why people hate on it so much...it was NOT a legal requirement for these people to take their cars in! No one told the owner of this jaguar he had to turn it into Cash for Clunkers...i'm assuming the owner was ready for a new car, the Jag may have had problems...I'm not defending "Cash for Clunkers"< just don't get all the hate..it is sad to see the cars destroyed!
Exactly, someone in UK would have paid up for all incl shipping for that classic. What a sick society throwing away perefctly good runners while many ppl can't afford a car. Makes me sick.
He's just doing his job. My friend who Randostripped a Corvette in front of the dealer locally that C4C'd the most cars was too. After the rainstorm finding a bare fiberglass Vette in the lot must have made them shit their britches.
The pain of watching this beautiful quality car just get killed was too much.......That car would have still been running to this fucking day if it wasn't for this fucking wasteful program.
Who the FUCK in their right mind would trade in a beautiful example of an old Jag to get a Toyota Corolla or some shitty hybrid 4X4? "Oh I know what to do, I'll trade in a high quality, vintage car for something which is made out of recycled Coke bottles and provides as much protection in a crash as a plastic bag!"
I wish I knew the person who traded in this beautiful classic so I could drain all the oil in their new P.O.S. vehicle. Stupid people do not deserve nice things! This Jag was made with a passion and soul their new disposable car will never have.
Why are these perfectly good cars being destroyed? What is that stuff he pours into the engine? In New Zealand this would almost never happen running to a car perfectly , it seems such a waste.
How could you say that to classic cars??? You know back in 173 when the oil embargo hit, Camaro's, Vettes, they were all considered clunker... Now a fully restored Vette that was considered a clunker is $10,000 upwards... If you and many others have this mentality of "Its just a piece of shit", then yards of crushed, seized cars are your automotive and restoration future.,.
Please don't insult my country; I agree that this was fucked up, and I am a natural-born American that owns a British car (a Reliant Rialto, my beloved). Many (54%) Americans were also against cash for clunkers, too. Besides, most of the cars bought were Japanese, and most destroyed were American (better American cars than bought). Plus, Germany did a programme like this first. I do not think that "fuck America" is justified, when many Americans viewed this with disapproval, anyway.
Worst than the policy of the government, which was tremendously stupid, is to observe the man laughing of this. I wonder if it was his mother. in case he has ever had one...
WTF! THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED! How is the nest generation going to see our vintage motoring past! I have a 2007 jaguar S-type and Rover 75, real lovely british saloons, which are NEVER going to the crusher!
I wish that I could get the name and address of the person that traded that car in and go kick there butt! I collect those Jags. That one was worth about 10,000 bucks to a collector like me!
@MrMoterKid The stuck gas pedal cases were hoaxes and the brakes did have minor problems but they offered to fix anyone's car who was in the recall list free. And no i don't just mean old Toyota's. Everyone has different views and opinions on car brands but i never trash any car brand because you can't really judge a car unless you've owned it for quite a while and you have probably not owned a toyota before. But i do agree with you about the jaguar. It's a completely good car gone to waste.
that sounded like a really sweet car, sure the bodywork could use a lil tlc but it woulda been cruising the streets if you brutes didnt get your greasy lil mitts on it!!
you are aware that english people and american people pronounce words like "jaguar" differently. saying that someone is wrong for not doing it your way is absolutely ignorant.
@deadsailors - It hurts doesn't it...I love my jag, an 87' XJ12 Vanden Plas, and it pains me when I see Jaguars in Cash for Clunkers, and there seems to be quite a few...I need to go wax my car now if you don't mind... :'(
Oh this was painful to watch. Those are so nice to cruise around in. I had one and loved it so much!
only in America can such stupidity be tolerated,
Many people look at this as a waste of perfectly good functional vehicles. However, I'd like to see police do this to vehicles seized from criminals, especially if they've been used in "drive by" shootings or kidnap murders. A member of the victims family should be the one to start it up and "RED LINE" it.
just hearing the jag screaming as it dies is such a sad thing to hear
Sickening. This is such an awesome car. My god. The world has gone mad
my mom used to have a jaguar like that. they are good cars
Since when does the EPA allow coolant and oil to be released on the ground?
Have you ever seen a grown man cry?!!! I just did! CLASSIC Jaguar XJ6.
Environmentally friendly solution!!!!
fucking well done government!!!
Sadly the cash for clunkers program wasn't the worst thing we got from Odumbass.
Just wanted to cry over this, I just bought a Jaguar XJS, 1984 2 weeks ago. This was a wasted program and a rip off of the American public.
I might be wrong, but didn't the UK have a similar program? And required that they must be crushed?
That engine sounded beautiful. R.I.P.
What was the point of doing this to a prob perfect car that could be sold or used. Just who are these two dorks anyway, seem to me to be a couple of wastes of spaces to me.... Some people have just got NO BRAINS AT ALL. The two prob watched that broke back mountain film, together.....
I need those Kent alloys.
As a proud jaguar owner and enthusiast.
This video made me cry a little bit
its not called a suicide hood in fact its the complete opposite, its called a safety hood because if it becomes unlatched while driving it will not flip up and hit the windshield. Just a little fact there
@gmancarini1 Nothing, but how does a little 4 cylinder car like that compare to a big old Jaguar?
Even in Russia, the utilised cars were not scrapped like this, even if they couldn't even move. Most parts that were in good condition were resold. No matter, Jaguar or Lada. And some cars in good condition were resold entirely, for a bargain price, allowing some really poor people to own a car.
What kind of jaguar is that and what motor is it
@MrMoterKid whats wrong with a toyota corolla???
Why did the car last so long? It was a classic.....a fucking classic. Pure quality just destroyed and crushed......what the actual fuck was wrong with the person that traded the car in and most of all the fucking government during this time.
Very impressive. Id never expected Jaguar to impress me.
This is probably the Best and Longest it's ever run.
No, this program was in 2009 only. And yes, this program was disgusting. I'm glad it's over.
i have one question for everyone out of america, are cars still betraded like this? i know its 2012 now but im curious if they still do that, because i fucking hate it
A German made engine, a body designed by an Italian company, and made in Coventry England. Truly a unique vehicle, besides the Lucas parts and wiring.
I'm pretty certain many parts on the 87 xj6 were manufactured in Germany, including the engine. Some of the Lucas parts have made in Germany right on them. The XK engine was not designed by Germany, just manufactured there. It's an OLD engine that dates back.

this jag is way nicer than my 76! makes me wont to cry seeing that. so many nice cars and trucks destroyed by cash for clunkers.
The moral of this video: Don't let hillbillies anywhere near your Jaguar.
@bxtzd93 Not true, 1986 is the limit for tax free. A car from 1987 will never become tax free.
To all the sentimental mentals on here waxing about how tragic this is: this is a 1987 Jag, commonly used in destruction derbys and "banger racing". Cash 4 cars is a tax break prgm right? So theyre donated anyway for parts
what year
they probably didnt want to kill it, eithr, they are just doing their job. they arent allowed to sell clunkers.
More insane than the C4C program itself is the fact that people bought into it and traded some preety nice and useful cars that could have been sold out of courtesy to poorer families or car enthusiasts. Killing these cars was pollution galore not when they were in regular operation taking people to and from wherever.
How many miles were on the odometer? Where did this video take place?
While I do disagree with the "Cash For Clunkers" program, I don't see why people hate on it so much...it was NOT a legal requirement for these people to take their cars in! thats the problem with that joke of a program people were killing perfectly and sometimes hard to find cars, really so sad
they always laugh and im sitting here crying :(
I actually was crying as well....I would have rather been shot than see this beautiful quality car go.
He's just doing his job.
My friend who Randostripped a Corvette in front of the dealer locally that C4C'd the most cars was too. After the rainstorm finding a bare fiberglass Vette in the lot must have made them shit their britches.
ya know what's really a shame, the fact that the door locks didn't fail trapping the guy inside as it burst into flames .... hmm
no fucking way these cars are worth 14,000 a pop fully restored are you kidding me
I like that explorer next to the jaguar btw
1987. Classic gone for ever
The pain of watching this beautiful quality car just get killed was too much.......That car would have still been running to this fucking day if it wasn't for this fucking wasteful program.
UK did what exactly????
Boy, I guess that car was a clunker, did you see that radiator hose break.
What purpose was it to trash a perfectly good engine?
For the environment. Good joke, right?
Gotta push these shitty new econoboxes that hardly last over 100k miles and 4 years.
somebody probably would have loved to have the parts from that vehicle. What a waste!
That engine lasted a long time...

How well does it run?
who is ever destroying that jaguar needs to fucking blow up with and also who ever traded it
Stands up well to the abuse... Strong cars they were. What a shame though, loads of life left,
Lighten up, dude - they were just doing their job. The government mandated that the engines be destroyed.
@doomsd46 74 XJ6
They truly are gods among vehicles, so ahead of their times
@deadsailors - They are, but they still are turned in as clunkers! :(
Why are these perfectly good cars being destroyed? What is that stuff he pours into the engine? In New Zealand this would almost never happen running to a car perfectly , it seems such a waste.
What a waste of a beautiful car . Sickening to see..... :(
for it to last so so long the enine must of been rebuilt
@MrMoterKid Someone who coudln't work on it himself and he didnt' want to pay the repair bills anymore?
See, you trade in a perfectly good tank that never fails to cars that are in the shop by the week because they throw a stupid code...
@bxtzd93 Helaas niet.. zoek maar na op de rdw site. Auto's van '86 nog net, daarna niet meer.
Shoulda held a huge demo derby...
OMFG!!! A classic? Seriously? I'm suprised a gov. official didn't just take this one in theirself.
How did this help the economy? Plus I still see a lot of big vehicles out there. Its not like this program had any positive effect.
Well ain't this just god awful especially this being a jaguar :(
Please don't insult my country; I agree that this was fucked up, and I am a natural-born American that owns a British car (a Reliant Rialto, my beloved). Many (54%) Americans were also against cash for clunkers, too.

in the uk.k. that car would be a cherished classic.
uk did this too . it was on top gear . i thought you would have known that TopGearrules
This car was probably worth more just to sell than whatever discount he got towards a shit pile of his choosing.
Worst than the policy of the government, which was tremendously stupid, is to observe the man laughing of this. I wonder if it was his mother. in case he has ever had one...
Vanden Plas as well. What a shame
That one was worth about 10,000 bucks to a collector like me!
god i cant believe a jag lasted that long. jag and land rover are very poor quality cars
Dude not a clunker if you want to donate jaguars. donate them to someone who won't blow them up
@MrMoterKid The stuck gas pedal cases were hoaxes and the brakes did have minor problems but they offered to fix anyone's car who was in the recall list free. And no i don't just mean old Toyota's. But i do agree with you about the jaguar. It's a completely good car gone to waste.
Think of all the people who need cars to get to work who cannot afford them, people like that could've used these cars.
very very strong engine
poor jag
Wrong. In fact, the car had to be drivable to be traded in.
listen to the revvs on that jag!
that sounded like a really sweet car, sure the bodywork could use a lil tlc but it woulda been cruising the streets if you brutes didnt get your greasy lil mitts on it!!
you are aware that english people and american people pronounce words like "jaguar" differently. saying that someone is wrong for not doing it your way is absolutely ignorant.
Didnt look rusty, and if so, easily removed.
DONT YOU KILL IT YOU WILL BREAK MY HEART!
if I can add...not exactly what Ide call a clunker....but WAS a collectable classic!
No!!!! Why?????
find one fully restored on ebay or criaigslist watch how expensive they can get
it was nothing i could do anyway and i have saved a few jags that were clunkers.
Why? Why would someone want to kill such a nice car? This type of thing gets me really mad.
Well I have a Jag S type and nothings gone wrong with it!!
Beautiful jaguar xj 4.2 it's a shame to waste a pretty much bullet proof engine
my god what a beautiful vehicle..... poor thing :(
@deadsailors - It hurts doesn't it...I love my jag, an 87' XJ12 Vanden Plas, and it pains me when I see Jaguars in Cash for Clunkers, and there seems to be quite a few...I need to go wax my car now if you don't mind... :'(
you know they are enjoying gunning these things to death.......
the equalizer will be pissed !
