      Many people look at this as a waste of perfectly good functional vehicles. However, I'd like to see police do this to vehicles seized from criminals, especially if they've been used in "drive by" shootings or kidnap murders. A member of the victims family should be the one to start it up and "RED LINE" it.

    Even in Russia, the utilised cars were not scrapped like this, even if they couldn't even move. Most parts that were in good condition were resold. No matter, Jaguar or Lada. And some cars in good condition were resold entirely, for a bargain price, allowing some really poor people to own a car.

  • @TwinStickFilms

    A German made engine, a body designed by an Italian company, and made in Coventry England. Truly a unique vehicle, besides the Lucas parts and wiring.

    • @dotcombatgames
      @dotcombatgames 9 років тому

      I'm pretty certain many parts on the 87 xj6 were manufactured in Germany, including the engine. Some of the Lucas parts have made in Germany right on them. The XK engine was not designed by Germany, just manufactured there. It's an OLD engine that dates back.
      The body was definitely designed by Italy's Carrozzeria Pininfarina. It was the first time that a Jaguar was styled with input from outside the company.
      But all this doesn't make it any less British.

  • @Sam-zw2gp
    @Sam-zw2gp 12 років тому

    To all the sentimental mentals on here waxing about how tragic this is: this is a 1987 Jag, commonly used in destruction derbys and "banger racing". They can be bought for a few hundred quid in the UK. The title says it had a coolant leak and smokey engine. This is not a "classic car" - its junk pure and simple. I don't agree by the way with the whole clunkers thing - I think its obscene because this is wilfull destruction - but be realistic - this really is a junker.

    More insane than the C4C program itself is the fact that people bought into it and traded some preety nice and useful cars that could have been sold out of courtesy to poorer families or car enthusiasts. Killing these cars was pollution galore not when they were in regular operation taking people to and from wherever.

    While I do disagree with the "Cash For Clunkers" program, I don't see why people hate on it so much...it was NOT a legal requirement for these people to take their cars in! No one told the owner of this jaguar he had to turn it into Cash for Clunkers...i'm assuming the owner was ready for a new car, the Jag may have had problems...I'm not defending "Cash for Clunkers"< just don't get all the hate..it is sad to see the cars destroyed!

    @NIKOSAUTOS 11 років тому +1

    How could you say that to classic cars??? You know back in 173 when the oil embargo hit, Camaro's, Vettes, they were all considered clunker... Now a fully restored Vette that was considered a clunker is $10,000 upwards... If you and many others have this mentality of "Its just a piece of shit", then yards of crushed, seized cars are your automotive and restoration future.,.

    Please don't insult my country; I agree that this was fucked up, and I am a natural-born American that owns a British car (a Reliant Rialto, my beloved). Many (54%) Americans were also against cash for clunkers, too.
    Besides, most of the cars bought were Japanese, and most destroyed were American (better American cars than bought). Plus, Germany did a programme like this first.
    I do not think that "fuck America" is justified, when many Americans viewed this with disapproval, anyway.

    @MrMoterKid The stuck gas pedal cases were hoaxes and the brakes did have minor problems but they offered to fix anyone's car who was in the recall list free. And no i don't just mean old Toyota's. Everyone has different views and opinions on car brands but i never trash any car brand because you can't really judge a car unless you've owned it for quite a while and you have probably not owned a toyota before. But i do agree with you about the jaguar. It's a completely good car gone to waste.
