Good basic example. I would like to see domains mentioned though. Here f and g have domain R. But, make f(x)=1/x and g(x)=sin(x). Slightly different input domains, very different output domaine (R\{k * pi} with k element Z.
I'm still confused. How do you determine that g(x) =x+1? Either f or x is a variable at this time. You don't know the value of either? You could say x*1 correctly but I don't understand how you can say x+1????
It’s the given value. If you are told to solve a real world problem about cookies: You have 10 cookies and 2 friends, and you want to know how many cookies each friend can have. That’s simple, it’s 5 The question tells us how many cookies this person has. I’m this case, you are asking how this person got the cookies. Maybe they popped into the the pantry out of nowhere, or maybe he made them. It doesn’t matter. You aren’t trying to find out how he got the cookies, you are trying to find out how many cookies each friend can have. In this case G(x) = 10 cookies, and F(x) = 2 Friends. You solve this by dividing G(x) with F(x) like: G(x)/F(x). In turn, if you replaced the G(x) with 10 cookies, and F(x) with friends, it will look like: 10/2. G(x)/F(x) is the same thing as 10/2. Don’t try to solve G(x) unless it specifically asks for it. Good luck hopefully this helped.
Mathematics is only a way of mapping. Just like a measuring tape it doesn't even exist only if you agree and utilize this technique otherwise there's much better application much more advanced you have no idea

What about the reversed problem as followed?
f(g(x)) and g(x) are given, find f(x)??

G(x) can also be seen as Y. So the G(x) = (X+1) is the same as Y = (X+1)
