    I’ve been using this exact setup for awhile now, and it’s definitely the way to go. I usually set up my laser to find a perfectly straight line and drill my entire run. The short length of the tool/drill bit combination allows you to drill your holes near perfectly straight, long wire pulls are virtually effortless.

      It is a dream tool, it has taken so much effort out of drilling out a house for wiring.

      How well does the keyed chuck hold up (tight) im conflicted between using this chuck or the quick lock

    These drills are a must if you do big wood frame projects. I must say however that one of the apprentices will lose that chuck key at some point or another, guaranteed. I switched to the quick lok system and like it a lot more.

      Did you have to buy all the bits over in 7/16 or did you have an adapter ?

    Thanks for the review on the hole hawg. Question about your usage of a typical cordless drill, now that you're using the hole hawg more. Do you still make sure you also have a typical drill on sites? And if you so, do you pack a heavy duty drill or just a lightweight "backup" drill since you would have this hole hawg always. I have a heavy duty drill (and an impact driver) and I'd like to get a hole hawg but price and the additional weight of it makes me wonder if it's still worth keeping my drill. Thank you

      Augers are faster than speed bores but they have the downside of blowing the other side out

    • @IRoYaILTY
      @IRoYaILTY Рік тому +1

      Yeah it really yeah they really blow it out on the back end. You can always just drill half then come around and finish from the other side to minimize the blowout . Auger bits are even worse

    Nice review but not areal world situation, it’s easy to knock out the last couple of mill when it’s on a bench vice but when it’s in tight between joists you can’t get a wack on it then.

    • @JohnMcGrathManInShed
      @JohnMcGrathManInShed  5 років тому +1

      Its pretty easy between the joists to, a little shove and its through. If i had time on site to make the video I would have, but I take your point I'm not standing on a ladder drilling between the joists.

    Is spec and seeing it's performance this seems to be a very expensive down grade from just using an m18 fuel combi drill is there something I'm missing or is this just an odd style of right angle drill?

    • @cuebj
      @cuebj 3 роки тому

      Often not enough space for combi drill between studs, noggins, ceiling timbers, especially if not wanting to remove other stuff. It's about speed, especially on a long run with tens, even hundreds of holes to make in a run. Not needed for one or two holes a day with loads of time to get in place for combi. Just 20 * 2 minutes is a chunk of a day saved. Soon pays for itself if that's your frequent job. My old Ryobi angle drill is perfect for my advanced DiY and handyman in retirement work

    • @f1reguy587
      @f1reguy587 2 роки тому

      The m18 drills are not really designed to bust wide holes through material, these types of angle drill have a lot more torque and less likely to fail, im not running the hawg, i run an impact drill, way faster, way safer and you dont need to buy another chuck or drills due to the heavy wear they get from munting metal each tighten. You buy the right adapters, you can do anything.

    Did Milwaukee send you these free or at a discount?
    I ask because as a consumer I’m not sure who to believe. So many “corporate testers” on UA-cam.

    This drill is WEAK I've done rough in's in San Francisco. And it binds a lot; causing bits to get STUCK. The Super Hawg seems better. The combi drill seems like a better choice. The type of lumber used in California is too tough for this fella. Not saying it's not good for a DIY person but professionally i would use a super hawg corded/cordless or the combi drill.
    FYI we tap trough BEAMS/posts/2ble plates not just 2x4's material.
