I'm a fan of the Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Alone in the Dark, Dino Crisis, and Clock Tower games mentioned here, but I wasn't even aware of the existence of the other games mentioned here. Thank you for bringing them to my attention, this is just another reason why I love this channel!
May i add "project firestart" to the list? Released the same year on c64 as "sweet home" on nes. Yes, not psx but i used clock tower as a way to "slip through" as it was released originally on an older system ;) Get the cartridge-version from nostalgia (otherwise you'll be swaping disks a LOT) and give it a try. You'll be surprised how much "resident evil" is inside this hidden gem already. Once you get over it playing on a system that had barely 64kb of ram to work with you are in for a treat that has limited ammo, slow monsters chasing you, a boss that requires more than just shooting him to overcome, log files to create a world (and give hints on how to solve puzzles), environmental storytelling, cut scenes, rescue mission, time limited events, quick time event and multiple endings! Thanks for reading. Have a nice day and stay safe :)
What's great these days, is that there are a lot of people translating Japanese only games to English, there was a lot i thought I'd never get to play. Mizzurna Falls was only translated within the past couple years, i remember when it came about. There's more games than even i was aware of, and i would DL what i can while i can, there are some great sites to get them, easy to find too, but they 'could' disappear any day. Galerians Koudelka if you like RPGs too Parasite Eve 1 and 2 Planet Laika is translated
I would have loved to have seen Galerians and Fear Effect on this list as well. But you brought a lot of games I didn't know about and an excellent omage to the unfairly unknown Martian Gothic. Excellent video!
I got like 4 or 5 hrs into galerians and was rly into it but I rly suck at video games in general so can typically not venture past ‘turn-based’affairs or anything that isn’t too demanding in the ‘hand-eye-coordination’ departments. Had to give up on it but maybe I’ll be able to return to it and give another chance sometime in the future, when/if I get better at that kind of combat. (Had the same issue w silent hill, but NOT games like parasite eve or koudelka or planet laika..which are now some of my all time favorites)
It's funny the iconic fog of Silent Hill was a way for developer to hide not readily rendered environment due to the limit of the console, but the fog really accentuated the mystery, anxiety and even jump scares.
Ah yes, Mizzurna Falls - the Deadly Premonition grandfather! Another great spooky games for the PS1 are FromSoftwares Echo Night and Echo Night 2: The Lord of Nightmares! I must say I think that Clock Tower (in Japan: Clock Tower 2) is not only more scary than Clock Tower 2 - The Struggle Within (In Japan: Clock Tower - Ghost Head) but also the better game.
I found Silent Hill disturbing at times, but I played through it and loved it!! Resident Evil 3 though!! 😱 I really struggled with Resi 3... Being chased by Nemesis was too much for me back in 1999!!
Did you ever play The Note? It's a very weird and interesting PS1 horror game. It's not among the best games on the system but I've always had a soft spot for it since it seems so forgotten.
Virus: It is Aware - It honestly looks like this game started as something else and then was changed into a movie license. I say this, because those interiors look nothing like the inside of a ship. It looks more like an underground lab.
I got a panic attack as a child while playing Resident Evil.... It was not a gama for about 10 year old kids. Me and and friends were too scared to play it and ofcourse we could not speak english
PS2/Dreamcast/GameCube horror was top tier & very immersive. Some PS1 Horror games like Silent Hill 1 made good use of the hardware, but not compared to Silent Hill 2.
3:27 in fact its not the 3rd either... in america they changed the name of the game do to similir gameplay, but its a totally dif game by the name "ghost head" clock tower 1 is an snes game clock tower 2 (its the one named clock tower on ps1) clock tower 3 its the one released on ps2 Ghost head is an excelent game, but like i said it actually has nothing to do with the franchise i finished hellnight but I did not liked it (i find it slow and boring at some point, and its not exactly a hard game once you understand) im surprised that parasite eve is not on the list when its one of the best ps1 games there is... also... Also very good games: Galerians Evil Dead Vampire Hunter D Interesting games: Echo Night Moonlight Syndrome The Guardian of Darkness
Virus! It was popular 20 years ago to be one of the worst piece of crap of the begining of the 3D! People now remember superman 64 but back then it was virus. So I nener played it but now I'm curious.
I've played loads of "horror" games and have found them as scary as watching Mickey Mouse. To be honest, I also find them very predictable, boring but some of the best comedic games I have played. Barbie in Dreamland is more scary on so many levels. Maybe it's because I am extremely old.
Silent Hill was one of the worst games I've ever played. Terrible character models, stupid looking enemies and linear gameplay. The game of locked doors where everything looks the same. Just complete garbage. I forced myself to play through it because of the sudden interest years after it was released. I fail to see the appeal. I remember everyone hating it when it came out. Including myself. It was the Dollar General Resident Evil.

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare will always have a special place in my heart as my very first horror game.
This is a great game on PlayStation1. I remember back then, this game has 9/10 score.
That spartan kick at 3:42 😂
yeah it looks really funny lol
Watching this on my ps4 and my controller started fast forwarding the video due to stick drift snd i almost got shooked haha great video
I play resident evil 2 remaster on ps4 with 90s costume and sound + DualShock1
Ah yes, Mizzurna Falls - the Deadly Premonition grandfather!

Hellnight aka Dark Messiah always creeps me out everytime I play it,even now
I've just recently picked Martian Gothic: Unification up and can confirm that it's a banger!! 👍
I have never heard of this game and so I am definitely about to download it and give it a shot!!!
Bloody love your videos! keep up the passionate work. I always hear games I’ve never heard of when I watch one just when I think I’ve seen it all
I found Silent Hill disturbing at times, but I played through it and loved it!! Resident Evil 3 though!! 😱 I really struggled with Resi 3...
Being chased by Nemesis was too much for me back in 1999!!
I've loved this game so much when I got it in 1999 for Christmas!!! it was my favorite of the original three even though I love the first two also!
I've discovered so many interesting games through your channel that I otherwise would've never heard of. Love these videos, keep it up!
Man, I consider myself a PS1 connoisseur but you just have such a knack for finding hidden gems! Also, +1 for sneaking in some Croft Manor music.
I'll never forget playing Resident Evil 2 for the first time!!!
Then a little while later, RE3 & OMG, Silent Hill !
Silent hill is the most terrifying game! As a kid playing the demo that was with MGS… shit me up!
My older brother tormented me with that demo disc so much I snapped the disc in half haha!

Not much of a survival horror fan, but it's always nice to hear about some underappreciated games.
That SH music along with the Mizzurna falls section is chefs kiss.
now when i hear silent hill ost i remember termina fear and hunger.
Ooo was waiting for theyre here to get translated. Thanks for letting me know
hellnight looks like my dmt trips with the blue hallways and that last scene with the 3d fractal looking stuff, gotta try that game some night
I like what you wrote for Silent Hill my favorite horror game
Bro...I've been playing Resident Evil from the very beginning and I always get around to replaying the old games.
Great vídeo!. Make a part 2 for Ps2 😊😊
Good list. I'd like to add Juggernaut and the Dracula games, all 3 creeped me out as a teen.
Happy Halloween) Thanks for your video)
As a kid who was too way young too play these games but saw my older cousins playing, this defines the PS1 for me. This, twisted metal and fifa 😅
Just checking in to make sure the good music is still in the intro.
Carry on
Excellent list, absolutely love PS1 horror games. The atmosphere & tension in these games really leave a lasting impact for sure.
Virus: It is Aware - It honestly looks like this game started as something else and then was changed into a movie license. I say this, because those interiors look nothing like the inside of a ship. It looks more like an underground lab.
Love your videos
Please post more playstation related videos
And you got a good voice.
Love PS1 horror! So many great games on this list. Resident Evil is still one of my all time favorite games.
Great video 🤘🏻
thank you for the list👍👍👍
The song from the beginning sounds so familiar,
Hands down, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 2 and Dino Crisis😍
Man I love your channel ❤️. Some of these games I never heard of. But I have 1 game u mentioned martin gothic. Keep the playstation videos coming!
Amazing video...
Just an advice. Really, you should add time stamps to your video. It is almost necessary when it comes to long videos like this one.
Thanks! We need more content from old games like these 😏 Also; We need TimeStampssssss xD
“Theyre here” is known as Iru in Japan
My friend and I played silent hill and resident evil in his basement with the lights on
Was I hearing the theme of Croft Manor from tomb raider legend?
I got a panic attack as a child while playing Resident Evil.... It was not a gama for about 10 year old kids. Me and and friends were too scared to play it and ofcourse we could not speak english
PSX is hands down the system with the most varied library.
I love this videos hi from mexico😊
what is the music playing during the Virus It Is Aware section?
4:22 The Doll Looks like Squid Game's Doll
Finally you’re back PS1 Horror time
Does anyone know the name of the music track in the intro?
This would've made a great Halloween special but I still love the topic regardless. Horror games imo peaked in the ps1 and 2 era
PS2/Dreamcast/GameCube horror was top tier & very immersive. Some PS1 Horror games like Silent Hill 1 made good use of the hardware, but not compared to Silent Hill 2.
i just know RE series, clock tower series, Dinocrisis...
martian gothic is amazing!!!
This would of been a good video for October
Horror......best genre ever 😍
No Koudelka and Parasite Eve?
nightmare creatures?? heart of darkness??
For me scariest game on PS1 is Silent hill cause its more of nightmare
3:27 in fact its not the 3rd either... in america they changed the name of the game do to similir gameplay, but its a totally dif game by the name "ghost head"
clock tower 1 is an snes game
clock tower 2 (its the one named clock tower on ps1)
clock tower 3 its the one released on ps2
Ghost head is an excelent game, but like i said it actually has nothing to do with the franchise
i finished hellnight but I did not liked it (i find it slow and boring at some point, and its not exactly a hard game once you understand)
im surprised that parasite eve is not on the list when its one of the best ps1 games there is...
also...
Also very good games:
Galerians
Evil Dead
Vampire Hunter D
Interesting games:
Echo Night
Moonlight Syndrome
The Guardian of Darkness
Missing timestamps? Really?
same games always
I have all those games. 👊
Who is waiting for Soul Reaver Remaster ? 😄
i know i will be in a tiny minority on this one, but i think OVERBLOOD is great LOL

virus is a buggy unpalyable mess, skip it. that reviewer obvisouly has not played all those games and is making this list based on whatever
