- I'm a journalist at Norwich City FC and thought I'd tell you a bit about how I got here, providing advice for those looking to get into the sports journalism industry.

I am 15, don't know what I want to do when older but know it has to be about sport. Its just to big a part of my life for it not to be.
i’m 15 too man, it’s never to early to start getting a grasp of what jobs are out there and find out what it’d really like
Start on social media. Started a Instagram page in Highschool and getting a following while gaining the experience doing sports content will help a lot. You can do it all how you want as well, just practice skills and knowledge in every aspect of sports media would be my advice.
@@tylerhartmann7575 I’m 21 and just now starting sports journalism. So you guys have plenty of time to figure it all out! Best of luck boys 🤘🏼
@@ASAPRatmouse how’d you get into it?
Do well in school anyway. If it’s too late, that’s fine, finish up, go back, get your GCSEs. 👍 I say this at 32.
I live in USA. same story, but when I applied to my newspaper, I knew that I wasn't going to get it, but I made sure to ask to be a free-lancer for high school sports.
As expected, I someone was picked over me, but my eventual boss gave me a free-lancer opportunity. Five weeks into free lancing American football games, someone quit and I got the full-time spot.
By the end of 2021, I was the only reporter left, so i was immediately the 'guy'.
Shoot for being a reporter, but start off free-lancing to build the portfolio. Also, you get a paycheck as well.
I’m 14 and thinking of leaving school 2 years early to go to college early and then uni at the same time people still in school do
this is great video, was making the match programme hard? reckon this would definitely come in handy.. maybe a beginners tutorial? thanks anyway pal keep it up
Thank-you! It helps if you get a bit of experience learning InDesign beforehand, which can be fiddly but there are tutorials everywhere. Other than that it was all just a bit of fun! Sorry for replying a year late!
I am terrible at English but I am somehow great at writing up match reports will that be a big impact
Big up
Gosh I’m 14 and live in Sweden and I really thought about what I wanna be when I get older and I wanna be a sport journalism but I saw somewhere that it will only be less and less jobs so I need advice
This is brilliant. I am someone who loves football and its my dream career and I currently have a fan website which I write. I have had decent enough grades at school but I really don't feel like I want to go to university. Should I try a college course or just attempt to go straight to a club?
What’s your website mate

I recommend trying to get work experience at clubs. It may be that you need to go to uni to get into that position, but perhaps not!
@@stephenwright6601 Thanks man, managed to get in contact with my boyhood club earlier this year and currently a part of the matchday media team with plans of University next year!
Thanks for the tips hope to see some more vids. Agree with the other guy some tutorials would be useful perhaps
