    I have this tank and its super quiet after a few mods. First, take a couple of small/thin rubber bands and put them around the filter lid. That will instantly make the filter silent from lid vibrations. Then take a couple of small felt button pads you can buy from a hardware store for less than $5 and put them at each corner under the lid. That will keep the lid from vibrating/humming. I use super lube in the motor impeller and it also helps to keep it quiet. Fill your filter with sponge, biomedia (seachem matrix) add filter floss and ditch the cartridges. This tank can be found on sale for less than $50 on occasion. At that price its a great buy IMO.

      Hi , may I know where the filter lid you are referring to? Also the felts pad you suggest to put, it that the 4 coners of the cover of the tank? Thanks

      @@chunkwongchan8591 The lid to the top of the filter, put rubber bands around it and it wont vibrate. Put a felt pad on each corner of the top of the tank. Set the lid back on...silence.

    The aquarium kits are a mixed blessing. They are certainly cheaper than buying the pieces individually, and they give a starter most of what they need. However, there are often flaws in pieces of a kit; at least in how they work together. Dolbec pointed out the vibration problem with the filter. In my Fluval Flex 15, the separate chamber for pump, filter and heater in the back was open to fish jumping into it, and I nearly lost two Endler livebearers before I bought a plastic modification that raised the height of the chamber to the top of the cover. I also find that a black top cover can darken the aquarium too much, especially if you use black gravel and a dark background. Dolbec wisely uses light-coloured gravel in his Marina and Fluval aquaria. I was not so wise when I set up my Fluval, and used black gravel in a tank with a black background and a black cover. I'll change this at some point. Meanwhile, when I acquired a second betta, I opted for an Aqueon 10 gallon rimless tank instead of a kit. Although it cost a lot more to equip it, I'm happier with the result.

    Curious as to what other animals you can put in a 5G? Here's a list made by @AquariumCoop on this topic :

    Vibration seems to be a problem with many outside filters, and aquarium kits with lids and internal pumps/filters. I have it to a lesser extent on my Fluvial Flex 15 and Aquaclear filters, though not as bad as the one you displayed.

      Yeah and on the recording that was a good day. I had it rattle like a jet a couple of times. Tried lots of things but was never able to get rid of 100% of the vibration noises

    Hello from Montreal here ;)
    I'm looking into the Flex 32. Do you use any products like Excel for your plants and how do you deal with Algae?
    I currently have an Aquasky (version 1) on my Fluval 55 and I would like the Flex 32 because of the bluethooth lighting. I can't say I'm a fan of the remote.

      Hello! Yes I use excel, though I havent found it to be super effective unless directly put on the algae and even then. Good maintenance schedule, having lots of plants and not overfeeding has been my strategy that works prettt well so far. I had minor outbreaks but they usually go away quickly.

    will this work for betta fish?

    • @DoAqua
      @DoAqua  9 місяців тому +1

      It should. There's a small knob on the top of the filter tube that allows you to control and adjust the amount of flow, this way you could have filtration that isn't too strong for the Betta.

    The impeller in my pump started turning backwards, pushing water out instead of bringing it to the filtration system. Anyone knows why this could happen? It looks like the rotation is magnetic so something might have inverted it when I cleaned it... weird problem, I know...

    • @DoAqua
      @DoAqua  Рік тому

      Weird enough, I've recently started to see a similar issue on one of my pumps. I can feel the pump buzz but nothing happens, no water movement. This usually happens after I unplug the pump during filter maintenance. The magnets seemed to somehow be misaligned by this.
      To fix the issue I need to have the pump plugged in and kickstart the propeller by pushing it with a tweezer. Tried moving the propeller and then plugging the pump but doesn't work. Very sketchy!

    I was looking at this tanks and the content list didn't mention other products, only the filter,light and fish net. Even the Image of the box, don't mention it.

    • @DoAqua

      That's odd, and were they inside?
      Maybe this is true for the newer kits. I bought these kits a while ago.

      @@DoAqua maybe it's because I am looking for it in Europe? Anyway, most places are selling for 90€ which seems a lot, without the stuff. i found it for a really low price, but can you confirm If other filters will fit the hood? Aquaclear 20 or tidal 35

      @@DoAqua yes, for that price I can buy better stuff. For 59€ for the tank, light and filter? You think is a better deal? Also, is possible to change the light for another brand?

      @@OutOTW it's more that I thought you'd atleast get the larger (10g) kit for that much but its likely that prices might of changed these last years. My main complaint with that model is that I quickly wanted it to be slightly larger so if you can find a kit larger for a reasonable price go for it. If you wanted it small than yeah I would still grab that kit, mine have been running for almost 2 years and everything still works.
