I’ve always loved the humble Niva. I had a Lada as my first car back in the late 70’s - a round head lighted model and it even had a crank to start the engine in case the battery ever went flat. With the Torsen, when you get one wheel off of the ground you must tap the brake, then it will start pulling again... I'm surprised the test driver didn't know that.
You may try to use your break pedal with left foot during step on the gas with the right one to lock the Torsen in diagonals. I think thats how to deal with Torsen. In the niva case perhaps the hand brake would do the job too because it seems both front tyres are always grounded.
