- On this #MotswakoMantaga, DJ Lemonka, Molemi and Tuks Senganga who now goes by MotswvkoCulture have come together to discuss the trials and tribulations they have faced in their individual Merchandising journeys.
Each wearing their brands, they share gems that will go a long way in helping other brands and individuals learn from their mistakes and the struggles they faced and how to navigate through the merchandising landscape in these current times.

Love this podcast gentlemen! Long overdue.
Firstly:
- I still think it’s possible to successfully market motswako merchandise. Knowing your market is important. Tuks is hit the nail that collaboration is key. All three of these gentlemen have fantastic merchandise, but I think there needs to be a central point for customers to physically and digitally buy their products. Win-win.
- Development is crucial in Motswako. More than ever right now. Yes, Mo, not everybody may have Jabba’s development skills, but I think it’s crucial, in everyone’s capacity, to consistently advocate the idea of growing Motswako.
- I slightly disagree with Lemonka. Patriarchy should be addressed even among majita. You guys are the pioneers, and your voices are very strong. Again, advocating a inclusive motswako society could be the to Motswako being a powerful force to be reckoned with again.

Dinaledi is good start...which is more team oriented. Print merchandise open pop up store during busy tyt...rope in Notshi, Element, Lection, Maglera Towdee, Boity is currently a social media Power House.... forget about trivial beefs they won't take us anywhere
Develop mass pulling events like di 60s, Letlamoreng etc where your art could be sold. E.g. Culture has a sound..you guys are musicians with a catalog for days...go back to where you all started. Mobilize Bokone Bophirima masses...that's where your fanbase, fundamentally is based.

Dunno gents, I think merchandise is saturated. We need to realize the difference between merchandise and clothes. Merch is supported, clothes are bought. Merch is forgotten, clothes are kept.
Can a brand make both, yes. A printed hoodie or tee is merch(for unknown brands, known brand can get away with it), a designed hoodie is clothes.
In my experience with branding and merch in the motorbiking community, people by it because they are buying the experience and exclusivity. That I have a hoodie that I got at this event in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Let's say the A Mantsi album is re-released for R500 with a printed tee, I would run to buy it, it's competing alone and it's something I can be proud of and flex with. If the same tee is at edgars, now it's competing with puma, Nike ect and I might not buy it.
I could talk all day about this and how to use technology alongside it. I think a good starting point would be to take Nispey Hussle brand as a case study.
And also to be real , motswako is a niche market so the energy has to be directed accordingly.

Record labels or music industry dont have talent scouts like ko disking? Scouts could connect the artist with management company and they can help manage artist and help make connections le record labels...? ka botsa net
Be a scout and grow the game,generally a scout is the guy who listens to demos at the record label ..what type of deal an artist signs will determine if the label brings the manager or the artist outsource .
