Lately I forgot why I even wanted to go into the ecology field my lecture online have been nothing but 30-60 min lectures where I cant manage to grasp or understand the information given its been so difficult ive even began debating if I should change fields or drop out but your videos really remided me as to why I want to go into this field in the first place thank you!!

Wow the Humus explanation is so simple and superb. How humus is formed? mulching, breaking down organic matter all the nutrients go through this humus. But farmers make this more complicated, here what they do is, they spray humic acid on the synthetic fertilizer applied soil, so what would be the reaction, are they wasting their money?
Thank you for your valuable comment! Yes so the humus is like a sponge, it can hold on to the nutrients that are released into the soil. All producers want to make profit, and applying fertilisers gets plant bulk (nutrient density doesn’t necessarily increase). When we simplify the system, there always seems to be imbalance in one way or another, and there’s always a cost to pay (it just might not be monetary!) This is a highly fascinating subject and a very complicated one!

Organic matter is incorporated by layering on top of your existing soil. The blanket is the mulch that is the skin. So gardners only have to layer compost and mulch every fall to maintain a healthy supply of food to the organism and worms that do all the work for free instead of us Incluing moving and distributing food, putting air in the soil tilling ( the worms do that) and making chenals for air and water. Nature is designed to care for itself and we are only to maintain, not help with any human made input.
