It is a testament, and tribute, to your collective professionalism that you can shoot this in one take, without any mistakes. Andre is able to spout off prices, HP and wheelbase without a stumble. Fantastic job.

Ford guy here, but man that is a sweet sounding truck, 6.2 is a horse for sure, I really do like it!!! About time GM getting in the super truck business, congratulations Chevy folks!!! I think I’d stepped up styling a lil to differentiate the truck from regular Chevys, but maybe being a sleeper ain’t a bad ideal.
Hardly a super truck, not even close
I think the blue color they showed it in makes it look a lot nicer but the price is too high. Might aswell get a raptor
Chevy guy here. I have a colorado zr2 and love it good value. This thing should be available for much less. It's nothing compared to a raptor and not even half of a trx. Very disappointing
Sorry you like those pathetic Fords.

Finally! I've been waiting for this. I hope you guys buy and take a Silverado ZR2 off-road, and put it through some torture tests.
Nice truck. I like the new layout in the front they've done a great job redesigning it in my opinion and it's a huge improvement over the current Silverado.
Who cares what it looks like if they haven’t fixed the engine. My 2020 trailboss blew up at 8k miles. I tell everyone not to buy GM crap
@@lesterparker1594 what size engine? I also have the 2020 trailboss with 12000 miles 5.3 engine and it’s been good
@@saulvazquez7548 I had the 5.3. They don’t all fail. I did my research after it failed when I should have done it before. They have about a 2% failure rate, which is bad. And they don’t just fail a little. Lifters went, which bent the rods. And GM was kind enough to only replace the side that failed, which meant the other side of the engine was a ticking time bomb. I traded it in as soon as I got it back from the shop. 2021 ford ranger. Couldn’t be happier
Glad they finally improved the interior. Wish the shifter was on the column though, frees up so much space in the center console area.
columm shifter is for lil soy boys

Maybe they fixed the engine. My 2020 trailboss had its engine blow at 8k miles. I tel anyone that will listen to not buy GM junk

It’s hard to pick between the big 3 (Chevy, Ford or Ram) for the best truck. They’re all great! Personally, I went with the 2500 Chevy Silverado LT with the Duramax engine. It also had better payload. I really love it and it seemed to be a better price. I’m still a fan of the Fords and Rams, but I ultimately chose the Chevy. Even towing 12,000 pounds up a steep grade, that 910 lb/ft of torque makes it seem effortless. Either way, I’m happy with my choice, and that’s what matters.
Between the big 3 I don't think you can pick a bad truck all are nice tons of power nice interiors just down to preference
Chevy looks the best!
Good walk around. Just the exhaust note almost makes me want a Chevy.

just gotta wait a few years for the price to go down
@@charles.hanson.1 It's a new era in the auto-industry, so high prices aren't going away.
If you want something now, GET it now -- it won't be cheaper later.
And on top of that, even our gas engine vehicles seem to be on borrowed time, as we're being forced to go electric sooner than later. Definitely, a sad state of affairs in America...
As for me, glad I got my (new) truck when I did (Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, April 2021) vs. waiting (as auto "experts" advised back then) for better times/lower prices, but I went with a mid-size truck as a full-size was too big and I didn't need a larger engine (a naturally-aspirated gas V6 is fine). AND, my Jeep fits in my garage! ;-)

@@billredding2000 I was saying to buy this year's model in a couple years
@@charles.hanson.1 Oh...didn't get that as personally, I never buy used vehicles, especially any that are "serious off-road-focused 4x4s" as you never know how they were driven/abused (and the owners won't ever admit to it). So I take the first-year depreciation hit gladly (got a good deal on mine, probably couldn't get close to that deal today so glad I bought when I did).
But really, even USED vehicle pricing increases seem to have no end in sight, so even buying used you'll probably get price-gouged, by the private seller or the Stealership.
I'll probably be keeping my Jeep longer than I first thought due to these current (and likely for several years into the future) insane "market conditions."
BTW, Andrei gives the "base" and "fully-optioned-out" price, however, as with other new vehicles nowadays just TRY to get a Silverado ZR2 for anything close to MSRP (a Base model or higher up), as dealers continue to jack-up pricing with their ADMs. Just like Ford dealers do with the Bronco, Bronco Raptor, etc., where MSRP pricing is pretty meaningless -- you're more likely to see a unicorn before getting anything at MSRP anymore.

I personally LOVE this truck point blank. Thank You for this video. Have a blessed day y'all
I Loved The ZR2 But That Motor Sounds So Good That Sounds Like A Camaro Engine It's My Favorite Engine That 6.2L Big Boy V8.
About time their interior got upgraded.
I was disappointed in the ZR2. I understand not having a supercharger; but at least make it more unique instead of a Trail Boss 2.0. It's a good looking truck no doubt. However, they could have made it more aggressive, wider, and bigger tires (screw MPG). Let's hope the next ZR2 currently in development has what this truck is missing.
They didn't want a true Raptor or TRX competitor for some reason, literally a ZR2 version of the Silverado.
Agreed. This is just a better-looking TB w some fancy bits
@@judeaucoin5028 The Trail Boss has only a limited slip differential in the rear (no lockers at all). The ZR2 has front and rear locking differentials, which the Raptor and TRX don't even have (rear lockers only). The DSSV suspension is also the best of both worlds as far as offroad/onroad, this thing probably rides way better than the Trail Boss, Raptor, or TRX. Really the only thing that this *doesn't* have is a crazy supercharged engine like the TRX, but its 420 HP is in the same realm as the Raptor's 450 HP, and it's naturally aspirated so it should be more responsive and more reliable compared to the TRX and Raptor.
@@upcastdrake8460 It needed to have 35" tires to even be mentioned with Raptor or Trx.
Because this was a mid cycle addition, they're kinda using it as a guinea pig to test the market and technology. I'm sure when they do a full redesign they'll differentiate it more. Bigger and wider tires would be great, but i like that they kept it at standard width, better for overlanding. Not every truck needs to be a desert runner.
black window pillars between front and rear will fade and turn white within 2 years like my dads 2020, same materials just finding out now that they dont hold up to time.
Awesome truck, when you do a driving test, could you please test the lockers in both 2wd and 4wd and let us know the max speeds at which they will operate?....I would like to know if the rear locker works in 2wd and up to what speed.
Google is your friend.
The Colorado Zr2 rear locker was lockable in 2wd but the front locker was only lockable in 4low at maximum speed of 25mph
I love the v8 sound. I bought a AT4 because I wanted a V8. And liked the whole truck and got a great price
Would love to see this put through the paces as a longer term review truck!

The Rebel body isn’t good looking. Interior is ok, but the new Chevy interior I like better - esp the placement of the screen. Plus the G/T still uses that slow Hemi. 6.2 is way better. If you spent that much on that G/T which is a joke, should have went TRX.

At $2.00/litre for regular fuel here in Canada…. they can keep it! Oil companies, government and gas stations have successfully sucked any joy I once had in automobiles right outta me!
I didn’t think that price sounded that bad until I looked up how many liters are in a gallon. I pay ~$4 a gallon in Texas but I get mid grade
It's not oil companies and gas stations, but you certainly can place all the blame on the other culprit, all of them the world over.
Here in Germany 2.20€/litre 🤮
On top of spending 70,000 dollars plus interest from any financing ( let’s be honest most people will finance a huge chunk of it) they can have it. Only way dealers and manufacturers will learn to be honest to us is to let them rot on their lot.
I hear ya. Want a tahoe RST. Going to get a highlander hybrid. It's frustrating. But I don't want to give them that much of my money
I hope they fixed the AFM/DOD. they have problems with their lifters.
They haven't.
What if or will they produce in regular cab long box configuration? That's Like a Rock. Farmers need new toys also....
GM started using the Mulitmatic shocks on the 5th Gen Camaro Z28
GM missed the boat with this truck by not upgrading the power. They are dropping the LT4 in the Escalade but NOT the ZR2? That makes no sense
The redesign is definitely a preference thing. That electronic gauge cluster is enough for me to turn away. The gauges should have been left alone while adding the larger radio screen. But to each their own.
Tires are too small. Ford FX4 has 33 inch tires. Hood looks like someone ordered a hood scoop from JC Whitney. That 6.2 is a beast but needs a power jump. They didn’t do enough to push someone from a TrailBoss to this for the price jump in my opinion. The new interior is very nice though.
Right...33's come on now.
You’re clearly confused. *This ain’t Ford.*
@@mybro727 didn’t say it is. Using FX4 for comparison, which is basically a sticker and skid plate added to a base offroad package.
The 6.2 sucks compared to the 3.5HO

Front CV axles already rusty with a frame coated in thin wax, downright unacceptable..... can you guys start looking at the undercarriage and frame corrosion resistance, here in the rust belt trucks like these dissappear FAST from rust and their lack of corrosion resistance (planned obsolescence)
Are those rocker rails frame mounted? Would love to see a 6.5 bed option and a diesel option. Low mpgs and requiring premium will be an issue as a daily driver. That truck with a duramax and a reasonable bed size would make a great weekend warrior /adventure/ overlander
If I didn't need a heavy duty truck I would buy this truck. This is the first GM truck I would be willing to buy in a long time. Well done GM
Nothing heavy duty about this…. It’s a half ton. Essentially a car with a truck bed, a v8 and 4x4.
@@Slowenchiladas yeah I know that which is why I said "if I didn't need a heavy duty I would buy this" No this is not a unibody vehicle like a car so you are wrong there. It's body on frame like a truck
@@TheRamGuy my bad apparently I can’t read this morning. And agreed. 😂👍
Yes nothing sounds like a V-8 and going with Borla was a smart move. Quality product with great sound I’ve used them on my last 2 cars.
I just don’t get why all the major manufacturers make their off road models 4 door only. I hate the look of them and would much rather have an extended cab with a longer bed.
I guess you’re only option is to buy the more basic model and mod it yourself.
I had a 21' Raptor. Bad panel gaps, rattles, missing window trim screws, and orange peel paint were a few of the poor build quality issues. Not to mention, it sounded like a duck farting with the V6. I just purchased this ZR2 in glacier blue and while the jury is still out on quality, I can say initial build quality surpasses that of my Raptor. Plus, it's a V8 that sounds sweet to the ears. There is no replacement for displacement. The Raptor and TRX are widebodies as Andre mentions and are built for desert racing scenarios whereas this truck is "thinner" and targeted for the off-road community. Granted, not many will take these $70k+ trucks places where both front/rear lockers are needed, but it's still cool to have. Looks are subjective, but slap some on some 35" tires and IMHO this truck looks very aggressive. Interior is a much-needed home run. Great job Andre as always!

After getting the middle finger from GM on APM/lifter and Transmission/TC issues with my Silverados, they can keep it. Maybe they should focus on making their normal trucks actually reliable first. It hurts to say that as I was a Silverado fan for a long time. The GMT 800's were the peak of GM's truck reliability. Then it went to shit.
Sorry to hear it, I think all manufacturers have reliability issues, the dealership experience for me makes or brakes the brand for each person.

Very nice truck, sounds great and the red is excellent. Will be nice when you do a real world fuel mileage test. GM made a great truck and it's styling is on par with any of the other truck builders. To bad it will still not compete with the TRX.

She pulls a trailer about 5% of the time. She also likes to drive fast, and routinely drive between 80 and 90 on the highway. She does a lot of highway driving from Wisconsin to Illinois. For 60k miles her average mpg is 19.8. That is the real world, and I tell her to never get rid of that vehicle.

It's not stock
They didn't build the Silverado zr2 to compete with the raptor. Meant for 2 completely different types of offroading.
While I agree this is not going to compete with a Raptor, what sort of off-roading IS it supposed to be used for? Certainly not technical crawling. I guess it would be fine simple two-track, but then again it's a full size truck so it's going to be size constrained. Desert go-fast is really the one place a full size (new) truck makes much sense and the fancy shock package points toward that. At least as much sense as taking a new $75K truck off road makes anyway. I'm not a chevy fan at all, but I do wonder why they've never tried to build a Raptor competitor. Certainly they could if they wanted to. This is interesting, but it feels like a half-measure. I'm not hating on it, just a little confused as to what the end goal was.
@@donhappel9566 not meant for high speed desert racing but would still be good for moderate obstacles and minor crawling situations, and overlanding. Offroading is much more than rock crawling and desert racing which it seems like most trucks today are being geared for. But I'd say this is more built as an overlanding rig. I'm sure it can still crawl and climb over most obstacles and has the power and reliability to do so.
Yup, everything between rock crawling and high speed desert, not Raptor and not Rubicon, just an all around weekend toy daily work truck.
@@xlthumper same as the colorado zr2, but i could see using the silverado zr2 as an overlanding rig.
@@danieljackson-woods6225 I really don't like that it feels like the OEMs think "off road" = "desert racing". IE Raptor and TRX. I suppose the overland crowd would be able to make pretty good use of this instead of the tacos they seem to love - and which they MASSIVILY overload as that antique platform has such minimal payload. My personal truck focus is either as a work platform or a crawler and neither fits this specific truck, but I'm glad to see it out there regardless. I do think the Overland crowd might be better served with the PowerWagon or Tremor in 3/4 ton to handle the weight, but always good to have more options.

In my eyes, this truck is close to a competitor to the Raptor and the TRX and frankly, a way better off-roader on mountainous terrain because the width isn’t getting in the way of your fun. It’s still cheaper than the average price people are buying the two trucks, anyway. No one is buying base Raptors or TRXs.

It's sad that 70k has become an acceptable price for a half ton pickup. For that same amount I've got over 700ft of road frontage, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a 500ft bass pond and a used GMC 4wd with 1700lbs of payload. Nice video, was really excited when I first saw this late last year but am a bit disappointed now. They should have added added bigger exterior features to separate from trail boss. Also, same power as all other Silverado’s is a bummer. Another 50 hp/tq would’ve been great. Lastly, the price is not justified when compared to competitors. That ZR2 sure is sounding sweet. That is some super sweet music to the ears.
Here's a crazy idea. GM should have put the C7 Corvette ZR1 engine in that thing and tuned it for a truck. I am sure it would lose some hp from 755 but probably land very close to a TRX's power. Then lift it a couple inches and put gigantic wide body fenders to fit big meaty 35s on it. That coupled with front and rear lockers and you'd have a TRX fighter!!
Andre, you know TFL will have to buy one. I wanna see this thing destroyed “not literally” lol and to compare it against the f-150 tremor and or tundra trd pro. Fantastic job as always! 😎
those 5.5' beds seems about useless to me. YMMV
I'm seriously hoping that the interior upgrades here also make it into the new Colorado/Canyon. Can't wait to see what the next-gen Colorado ZR2 looks like.
Does anyone agree that trucks are getting way too expensive? If you want a bad ass off road capable 4WD there are a ton of better options for way less. I have a 2020 Raptor as a work truck and while it is very capable off road, the EcoShitBoost V6 is a joke for a truck that costs that much. The TRX looks and seems capable but I'm not paying $100K for that.
A TRX as a work truck sounds like the most irresponsible thing anyone could ever make.
Why would you drive a truck that gets 9mpg as a work vehicle?
@@Meech_CV I never said I have a TRX as a work truck
@@Meech_CV he said he has a Raptor as a work truck
I mean, if this was going up against the first-gen Raptor, it would have a fighting chance. But in the world of the TRX - Chevy needs one thing, and one thing only. MORE POWER BABY!
Chevrolet...please put that V8 in the Colorado ZR2
Sounds great. Great video as well.
Nice work by GM, the styling is more muted and the interior is definitely better then before. That being said - a bit late to the game GM. Two negative comments - the non functional black hood scoop is silly to me AND the compromised positioning of the front and rear shock fluid reservoirs seem too close to getting damaged by debris with the rear precariously close to the hot exhaust (which is why the shocks have reserve away from the unit to help keep fluid cool so the shock can keep on "shocking"). I know all automakers make design and build compromises, just seems to me that GM is more obvious about it ... hope I am wrong.
Yeah, and 33" tires suck.shoukd have been 35" tires minimum...
Sticker price, $73,000. But they can only produce 3 per month, so the actual purchase price will be $100k!
Beautiful truck....love the big honkin' engine. Has GM addressed those pesky
premature transmission failures I keep hearing about?
No
i was hoping you'd explain the extra controls to the right of the steering column. if you do another video with that truck, can you please let me know? thanks. nice over view to start, thank you.
Just in time for $5 gallon gas.
I used gm configurator and built one out at 75k without picking all options.
Dollar for dollar the Chevy ZR2 has more appeal to me than the TRD pro.
Easily. The zr2 is a way better truck and it's not even close. That trd pro is shit.
As you said, there is no substitute for that 6.2L sound. Does it have DFM? Does it have auto stop/start feature?
3:14 What's that dripping over there?!
That puddle can be seen earlier as well when looking at the suspension in the front. It's clearly fresh, from this truck
That's what they call the Chevy special. The factory doesn't seal the oil pan completely. Very common on these. Yet another reason to never spend this kind of money on a 1500.....
I sure hope that is the A/C drain.
@@jefferp probably is exactly that.
But asking is best so they can verify in a future test and confirm.
Hilarious you guys have never seen condensation.
@@googleaccount2637 Yes, hilarious. I literally can't stop laughing.
