The Dr Strange/ Wanda situation is even dumber when you remember that the Original Sorceror Supreme that taught Steven was a damn female. So its perfectly OK for him to learn magic from a woman but him teaching Wanda would have been so damn horrible?!?!
Also it not cool for Strange to be in Wonda's show but it was perfectly fine for Wonda to be in Strange's movie and overpower him plus outshine him in it
I don't think it's sexist to find it hard to enjoy watching a 5ft 100lbs girl throw around 6'3" 220lbs men like ragdolls, when most girls I know couldn't fight off a house cat if it wanted to eat them.
Lolll it’s not bro, nothing wrong with wanting some sort of realism in a film, and theres nothing wrong with wanting the characters the stay true to there race, though I will say there have been times where doing that has made the character better, but there are some characters you can’t and shouldn’t do that to
Well, they not only can't write men. They can't write women either. Can they write children, answer NO. They write themselves which is not very good at all.
This! They just can't write. Period. I have read so many small press books and seen small Indie films that were so well written, it makes me sad that such huge franchises are handed over to people completely incapable of writing when they are so many good writers out there no one has discovered yet 😔
The sigma male archetype has always been one I've related to and when I see them in movies I have hope that some people in Hollywood still have an idea of how to write strong male characters. John Wick or even Chris Hemsworth's character in "Extraction" are prime examples of stoic men.
The problem with modern male representation in a nutshell is that it caters to male bashing and is often used to empower women, because the industry is too afraid of real masculinity to empower men.
I wish modern writers understood how men and women compliment each other IN their differences. My husband is a man's man, no question. Yet he is the farther thing from toxic. And I feel empowered with him at my side as we work TOGETHER, celebrating each other's differences and thriving in them. This kind of sick male bashing makes me angry.
The only ones I disagreed with Drinker on were Superman and Rocky....Tyrone pretty much shares my thoughts on both characters. Other than that, Drinker pretty much nailed it.
Can’t believe he couldn’t see the difference in character and stoicism of Rocky Balboa in Creed and the whole point of Clark Kent in Man of Steel who actually WAS stoic dealing with his troubles and stepped up. 🤦🏻♂️
4:17 I agree on the point about being smart about how people are portrayed on the screen. In my opinion, one film that balanced various groups in an equally balanced light was the shaft remake in the 2000’s. Each character was equally capable and intelligent wether or not they were likable agreeable characters. At least they weren’t stereotypical and moronic.
Chris Caville's Supes would be terribly unconvincing if he just smiled after going through all that sht he went through. Instead of looking strong, that would be a psycho. There are many ppl conveniently forget that he is an alien trying to adapt in a world that easily corrupts. Of course, I've only seen Man of Steel and JL.
Marvel, DC, and in fact, almost all fantasy programming is a venue for taking 'what ifs' and making things 'be' as they are not. This has (not too suprisingly) made its way to social issues as well. Modern fantasy is often an attempt to portray things in a way they actually aren't and unfortunately the viewer often walks away from their viewing experience believing reality is not what it actually is.
I'm a woman, and I support this message. 😄 I love my fellow women, but I DON'T want my man to be like me. I want him to be him - opposite to me in all the ways that make me better for knowing him, and vice versa.
I don't quite agree with his assessment of Man of Steel. Everything else seems spot on. Hearing what they did to Picard just broke my heart. It was almost worse than what was done to Luke.
Just like politics. Media: What laptop, Covid, border, Afghanistan, Ukraine, inflation, higher taxes, classified document problems? There's nothing to see there! 50% of the people: Yeah, there nothing to see there. If there was, the media would have told us. Ummmm
On the issue of Toxic Masculinity, this concept does exit and that is expressed as VILLIANS, or anti heroes. The hero is an example of healthy Masculinity. This can be in many different forms but usually is inspiring and have virtues others see and want to mimic. Most of these modern male characters have nothing I want to mimic. In fact, I would not want to sit next to them on a long plane flight or associate with in my free time. And that is the core problem. people creating male characters based on what THEY would like to deal with (weak and non threatening) vs men that other men would want to be.
I loved it! Probably mostly because the casting was so brilliant and they managed to keep it hopeful even as dark as they were going, which made it that much more emotionally impactful. And I loved that they exploring the question "how would this man have REALLY responded to this crazy life he had been given"
Fkn spot on with man of steel take my greatest hero, my greatest role model that my mother would use as a babysitter whilst doing housework lol take extremely confident champion of people loved by metropolis and strip everything about Superman away from him, I’ll admit to one thing and one thing only, I cried at Rocky a few times, still do & I broke down, nearly had a meltdown after watching what Snyder did to my hero, walked out cinema in tears but not tears of joy, the bloody opposite
To this day, I still have negative perceptions of white South Africans and its all thanks to Movies. The conditioning is hard to break especially if you don't recognize that they are doing it to you.
I appreciate what you said. Cause I was brown, I felt the the freaken same in highschool. So much better now. You got something here and you are the UA-cam that we need, and they don't deserve your channel those flakies hahaha
Kind of suck now movies want to focus on giving now flaws to their protagonist or giving too much flaws making the protagonist not really all that great.
The way explained the characteristics of sigma and alpha men was really good! I feel that topic of keeping to yourself as a guy is hard to explain and you did it with ease and accuracy!
Toxic masculinity doesn't exist. It's just men being men. Sometimes, it could be a bit much. Everyone's not the same. They just don't like the way these men are.
Looking how soft the society is becoming i really wonder if it's gonna impact Santa Monica in building the personality of Kratos for the next God of war Game i really hope they not gonna touch my Kratos and make him a weak blue. hair non-binary god of woke.
The Dr Strange/ Wanda situation is even dumber when you remember that the Original Sorceror Supreme that taught Steven was a damn female. So its perfectly OK for him to learn magic from a woman but him teaching Wanda would have been so damn horrible?!?!
Bro that's Disney/Marvel for you.
a female that was originally a male btw :3
tHe paTriARchy 🥴

Lmao
@@dominusetdeus060644 the house cat part was a violation 💀
But That scenario mostly happens when the women has superpowers. Plus in movies martial arts seem to give everyone superpowers

Chris Hemsworth and Keanu Reeves are amazing male actors as well.
Geralt of Rivia as portrayed by Henry Cavill; the man that says more with a "Hmmm" and a look than many say with a full rant.
And stop trying to get them to adapt to this soft era you can just tell some of lines were written by somebody woke
The guy from the northman too I think is one
You do know "Sigma male" is just a meme, right?

Props for sticking up for Snyder, because I agree with you on the Superman transformation that was going to happen.
I'm 53 and Roger Moore's Bond was in my timeline. Daniel Craig's Bond was colder, darker, and violent than Moore. I liked them both.

It was really good to see you on his podcast Tyrone! I love to see my favorite UA-camrs collaborate
One of the few things i disagree drinker for , is man of steel, that’s how we would react to someone that powerful.
Marvel, DC, and in fact, almost all fantasy programming is a venue for taking 'what ifs' and making things 'be' as they are not. This has (not too suprisingly) made its way to social issues as well. The best men characters people have made were John Wick and Thomas Shelby.
In other words, ladies, if men like us were meant to be like you, we'd be YOU

So in the game, Midnight Sun Wanda could be mentored by Strange but not in the movies?
Geralt the Rivia is the hero while the Bard is cómic relief.
Yeah Adrian was the support structure during the rocky films, but that was delt with in balboa
I don't quite agree with his assessment of Man of Steel. Everything else seems spot on.
Hearing what they did to Picard just broke my heart. It was almost worse than what was done to Luke.
I think because he prefer original superman.
I kinda disagree with what he said on Superman, Rocky and James Bonds. But with different reasons with all three.
Just like politics. Media: What laptop, Covid, border, Afghanistan, Ukraine, inflation, higher taxes, classified document problems? There's nothing to see there! 50% of the people: Yeah, there nothing to see there. If there was, the media would have told us. Ummmm
I Barely disagree with critical, But i disagree, Rocky in creed was written well. That was good writing.

Just smile and wave boys...just smile and wave...
.....When you come out of a recap with life clarity. Good §Hit! Shouts to the channel.🎉
Rocky's original support system not being around anymore makes sense for him being sort of depressed
I agree on your Rocky take, its little more complicated than the Drinker make it seem.
Ayoo which livestream?
It’s sad how they will get canceled for making a hardcore man that leads a army and not a single female protagonist that overcomes him
I had no problems with man of steel at all. I really love the movie
It's a god damn masterpiece
I have problems with some of the plot, but otherwise, it's pretty awesome.
I loved it! Probably mostly because the casting was so brilliant and they managed to keep it hopeful even as dark as they were going, which made it that much more emotionally impactful. Man of steel is modern supes not forties supes raised different and with a better education will realize he ain't human and also much more stoic.

Can't put Strange in Wandavision but it's fine to give her half your solo movie...(Dr. Stange 2)
They got Tyrone with Zack Snyder's Superman looool

I agree with most of what he said but not with Craig’s Bond or Rocky.
