The people that tow the cars will sometimes hold the car, strip all the parts, then bid on the car. A lot of times the tow service people get a huge discount too, like 50-70% off any cars they bid on so they don't care if they bid high. This exact thing happened to my buddy who buys auction cars to sell

That stripped trackhawk is actually worse than you think. The suspension that was on it didn’t come on it. You can see drum brakes in the back they came with big brembos all the way around and those rims aren’t trackhawk wheels just regular jeep rims. They put that suspension on it to push it out of wherever they stripped it. Crazy.

Its a shame what happened to that jeep; but what they're charging for the shell is not bad at all. That is way more than 17k worth of parts. The wheels for example are about 4 thousand dollars in that condition, the steering rack is like 2k, the tail lights are probably $800 for the pair, that one exhaust tip is about $150, that Harmon Kardon subwoofer (if it still works) is like $200, that liftgate is a whole 1500 dollars, the left rear passenger door with the window regulator assembly and speakers is worth like $500 all together. I can go on but we're already at 8 thousand dollars and there's still more valuable parts including but not limited to that expensive ass fuse box.
