This is when the game officially goes off the deep end. The world destroying eldritch monster with mind warping powers worshiped as a literal god turns out to be a spaceship for an interstellar alien bird trucker who is checking on your planets fuel reserves. And you kill it. Fuck.

Fighting a Birdman may seem anticlimatic when you think you're fighting a god, but, when you think about it, while it can be funny, it also makes the story all the more tragic. All that pain, all that suffering, all those deaths, all of that was meaningless because in the end, the planet was just the gas station of a Birdman who had no clue he had created a religion with his space ship. Kinda reminds me of those stories where animals witness the effects of man and interpret it as the intervention of gods or something beyond their control and their understanding. It would have been epic to kill God, but God being an unaware imposteur gives the finishing blow to the Tri religion, with all their actions and devotion being rooted in a lie. In the end, we're nowhere as important as we think we are.
I always took it as being that the panet was built for some unknown purpose and he was just showing up to refuel it. Since the end shows all those trees popping out. I sure hope whoever he worked for remembers to send someone else next time or we just doomed the planet for good next time its running on empty lol

@@BeyondBirthday8 well one theoory someone had in this section was that he was transporting ivory and stopped at the planet like a gassoline truck still stops at a gas station. Which made sense to me. I just like the idea that he was there to fuel up the planet because of the grim connotation that robin although saving her planet now might have doomed it long term if whatever powers that be either go "the indigenous life is hostile, exterminate it or leave the planet to wither next time"

The true Iconoclast moment: when you literally destroy the 'god' of the religion that had Robin's world committing atrocity after atrocity in its name. And the final blow using the Isi seed, which triggers the chain reaction that revives the whole world is nothing short of pure poetry. Truly a perfect masterpiece.
And, if you stop to think about it, it's triple tragic: everyone built up a religion around a guy who used the planet as gas station O_o All the sacrifices, misery, trauma, war, zealotry, discrimination... all of it, because we couldn't understand what was really happening. Tell Agent Black what was she really fighting for. Tell the same to Royal. Tell Mina why are her people being persecuted. Tell Elro why his family was murdered. Tell Robin why having a wrench is a crime. Think about it. Now, cry.

I was laughing so much when he came out of his ship! I wasn't confused at all, but I was surprised and it made the ending ten times better, because everything suddenly made more sense AND it was goofy as fuck, which is almost always the case with the boss battles in this game. If you think the game should take itself more seriously or rather keep up with the craziness of the boss-fights... Why not both?! Honestly that's what makes the game unique: it's both crazy AND serious.

I've heard people say this boss is supposed to be comic relief but... I just can't agree. Everything that was done throughout the entire game was in service of nothing, essentially. The One Concern was nothing but an overgrown cargo cult, Ivory isn't some mystical substance but rather a form of gasoline, and the "god" of the planet likely has no idea what the humans have actually done to his gas station to turn it into this planet. I feel like the actual implication of this boss are so much darker than people will say
which is the most out of nowhere final bosses out of the two a robot ball of darkness that has been mentioned afew times or a bird that wizard of Oz'ed the human population with no warning
Imagine your car runs out of gas, on your way to the gas station a random person forcibly pulls you over and insists that you are a god. You get creeped out by him and while you try to pull away he suddenly takes out a gun and shoots your car. You then hurry down the road, confused about what just happened. Once you finally get to the gas station you find out that it is completely empty. Suddenly a random person appears out of nowhere and completely destroys your car. You get out to try to defend yourself from the unknown assailant but your efforts prove fruitless and you end up getting killed by your attacker. This is basically what happened to the birdman
I love how Robin before she went down there was like "ok fuck it while you all complain about the end of the world, I fucking refuse to die without a fight so I'm going to actually do something like I've been doing this whole adventure and when I save the world don't ask me for shit anymore" and the fact that she doesn't want royals death to be for nothing
This music is super cool! There are hints of Mina's theme starting at 1:12 and best heard around 1:56. Then there's also hints of part of the Omega Wheel theme starting around 2:11. I LOVE when artists use parts of other themes in songs. My favorite composer for doing this is DM DOKURO, he's great at putting in little parts of other themes in his work, and he also has musical base themes for different areas like the jungle or space. A good example of that is the similarity between his "Infernal Catharsis" and "Murderswarm" songs, both based in the jungle.
This boss along with the Starworm ruined so many Lethal Boss Rush runs. I am so glad I learned that the blue balls the Starworm shoots from his hand can be reflected with the wrench.
The last battle is not mechanic vs trucker. It’s earth mechanic vs alien mechanic. Just as she was able to undue everything he built up around ivory and its religion. He was able to use mechanics to build it up. The last clash is two very equal and different mechanics fighting hand to hand.

I think jays race might be in a intergalactic war with who idk and his just suppose to ship ivory from these ivory planets just this one so happened to have a bunch of people that started worshiping his ship and such I think the star worm is an actual star worm because of what Royal says he says it does look a lot like a star worm meaning it’s not a star worm but looks a lot like one witch is what leads me to believe it use to be a star worm I like to think it didn’t kill jay because it was malfunctioning but because the star worm finally gained back control and used its last moments for revenge

When I first played Iconoclasts I thought the thing Black turned into was the finalboss and I was so let down. I'm glad this guy showed up because all of the late game bosses except Mendeleev and the big shield guy sucked
honestly the only think i find weak in this game are the boss themes. i don't find them threatening or memorable at all, with some exceptions (Fight Unseen, Moonlight, Memento Mori, Duel and Jet Black) i always replace this theme with Ragnarok of DMC2 when i play lol
I agree that Jet Black, Moonlight and especially Memento Mori are excellent. However, the one I actually listen to the most is Mother's theme. On the contrary, I don't really see much in Fight Unseen or Duel. If anything, Duel is just as generic as Whiteout, or Psychopomp, and considerably more generic then the three tracks it plays for the non-significant machine bosses. Though, all of them are better than this final track. EDIT: Listened to this Ragnarok you mentioned (ua-cam.com/video/UjqdhnJeBXo/v-deo.html), and honestly, it's somewhere on par with Psychopomp. Maybe it's just that I didn't play any DMC, but I really can't detect any trace of soul there.

honestly the only think i find weak in this game are the boss themes.
i don't find them threatening or memorable at all, with some exceptions (Fight Unseen, Moonlight, Memento Mori, Duel and Jet Black) i always replace this theme with Ragnarok of DMC2 when i play lol

don't take me wrong, all of them are pretty fitting but i feel like they are to....souless.
I agree that Jet Black, Moonlight and especially Memento Mori are excellent. However, the one I actually listen to the most is Mother's theme. On the contrary, I don't really see much in Fight Unseen or Duel. If anything, Duel is just as generic as Whiteout, or Psychopomp, and considerably more generic then the three tracks it plays for the non-significant machine bosses. Though, all of them are better than this final track.
EDIT: Listened to this Ragnarok you mentioned (ua-cam.com/video/UjqdhnJeBXo/v-deo.html), and honestly, it's somewhere on par with Psychopomp. Maybe it's just that I didn't play any DMC, but I really can't detect any trace of soul there.

I want a sequel so bad, this game absolutely grabbed me with the adorableness and gameplay at fkrst and flawlessly made it a favorite with the lore and characters, and then the even better gameplay on top
