    Thank you for the amazing and concise video. I have couple of questions.
    1-How early Should I book my test day. If I a schedule my test day 3-5 months in advance, is that considered too early? The reason i am asking is because i have heard quite few people complain about cancellations and being asked to reschedule. Have you had any issues with that?
    2- Can i take my exam on a weekened or is it just Mon-Fri?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  2 роки тому

      Glad the video was helpful! I would book whenever you feel comfortable, a few months out is just fine but if you’re in a popular city or area like I was (Chicago) I would book early because the Prometric sites fill up quick especially with out of staters having to drive or fly in to test in Chicago. You can always change the date and location if needed without a fee if you change it 30 days in advance typically. The test can be taken weekend or weekday. I took mine on a Thursday! Best of luck 👍🙌

  • @yukid1790
    @yukid1790 3 роки тому +3

    How big were the lockers? I have a 8.5 x 11" notebook (and a big enough purse or backpack) I'd like to bring with me so I can study during my train ride to downtown before the test, but I am worried it might not fit in the locker...

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  3 роки тому +3

      They were about half the size of a highschool locker and about similar to a gym locker. I was just fine with my backpack as well as a jacket and a few other items so you will be just fine. Best of luck!!!

    I have to drive 45 to 60 min just to get there. Where is parking? Is there a lot of walking. I use a cane. How close are bathrooms to the test room?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  3 роки тому

      Hey! There is no parking available so you will have to find city parking unfortunately. The bathrooms are located outside the testing rooms so you’ll have to walk a bit but not up or down any stairs. Probably a 2 min walk! Best of luck on the exam 🤙

    Could you please explain the parking situation for those of us who are commuting with cars? Is there free parking for those using the testing center or we have to figure out our own parking?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  3 роки тому +3

      Awesome question! Unfortunately you have to figure out parking on your own. There are a few garages nearby that you can pay to park and then walk to the test center. Personally, I Ubered to avoid any issues since parking is always a pain in the city for me 😭 Hope that helps out & BEST of luck on your exam!!!!

    Are you aware of any other test center in Chicago other than this? they don't have step 1 dates until April. Is there any other way to schedule than online appointment ProScheduler? website is totally changed now

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! I just scheduled step 2 and noticed the change as well. The format is a bit different but essentially it’s the only way to schedule these exams and the MegaCenter is the only one I know of in Chicago! The dates aren’t great though :( sorry but good luck on the test 👌

    Thoughts on MCAT vs Step 1? I’ve heard that MCAT is more reasoning and Step is more memorization? Would u say that’s accurate?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  3 роки тому +1

      Hey man! Great question as always :) I would say that memorization will only get you so far on both exams. The key thing is really application of concepts and having a strong foundation! MCAT has more specific and detailed oriented problems due to the nature of the basic sciences like Physics, Orgo, biochem etc. Step 1 has a lot more volume of material and has more of a clinical application of content however they will have you reason between differential diagnoses to choose the best answer! Hope that helps out!

    • @majoreuowii9729
      @majoreuowii9729 3 роки тому

      @@AustinNguyenMD something thats hindered my progress on the MCAT is the passage reading portion for all the sections. I’m a really, really slow reader and takes a lot of time for me to comprehend stuff (especially under timed pressure). Are the readings on Step as dense as the stuff you see on the MCAT passages?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  3 роки тому +1

      I totally understand that! I personally did not like the CARS section on the MCAT and the amount of reading either. STEP has question stems that can be long but most of the questions show key details and information that help you get to the right answer so most of the time it’s more of fast read instead of a deep and detailed read like MCAT!

    • @majoreuowii9729
      @majoreuowii9729 3 роки тому +1

      @@AustinNguyenMD thank goodness. I think I’ll be good as long as there’s no CARS on Step lol 😂

    Is there any difference when it says on Prometric "Mega Center 1, 2, 3 or 4"? And where do you find the scheduling permit?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  3 роки тому

      Good question! The scheduling permit should have been sent to your email. You also can find it on the the nbme website where you registered for the exam. To my understanding the megacenter number doesn’t matter, just be sure to report to the correct address listed!
