In 1985 I was fifteen and worked in a hoppy shop after school and on Saturday mornings. I still own my optima and still my absolute favourite. I used to get paid to build them at home as people would pay to have them built and painted. That paint work is absolutely stunning.
Terrific find and a great deal too! That paint job too a ton of time and dedication and I would not be able to take it out and run it either like he couldn't!! Great score Keith!
That paint is top quality. The price you paid for the whole car is worth the cost of labour alone. Based on the paint I’m sure that the chassis is built to the same quality. Amazing 😊
Awesome find there, Keith! Yeah mate, that's all paint. The rere's used decals but the original had to be painted, so no pre-painted body. The box art Optima would have to be one of my favourites, they just look awesome! 👍
Wow. That is an incredible paint job. Those Kyosho's of that era were just superb looking buggies. Nice score! I am just about being kept up at nights just thinking about doing the paint and decals on mine.
Wow the paint job is awesome. That takes some work (which is why they now provide the decals in the re re I guess!). I remember when these started to turn up at our race club, our Tamiya's didn't stand a chance 😆
Absolutely awesome and that paint job is phenomenal!! I’ve been putting off painting the body for my original that I’ve restored for far too long because of how difficult it will be!👍👍
Again you don't disappoint, great Optima you got there. Unfortunately Optimas can be very addictive... got 4 myself (1 build from new old stock + some Option House parts, 1 restored and 1 with a Jevelin re-re cage without wing and of course a nib.
What a sweet car from Kyoshos timeline! Now this would be me though but if I had that car and they good or condition I’d start looking up the original Promo! With the car next to it
This and the Hotshot are the stand out 4wd from back in the day measured by popularity and how iconic they are now! I know there is so many better performance 4wd especially over the Hotshot but these two are just so special and had such a massive influence on the hobby! I think the Schumacher Cat and PB Mustang deserve a nod too! Awesome Optima Keith you must be over the friggin moon such a gorgeous buggy! Love the boxart big time! Cheers James.
That is REALLY nice! Amazing paintwork and I think you’d struggle to find a better example for any price. The time and effort taken to build and paint is worth so much more. Excellent!
Kyosho royalty indeed my friend 😍😍😍
That box art is incredible 😎
You’ve found an absolute gem there Keith 😇👊🏻
Off the charts?
Thanks buddy
That car presents itself as though you have just unboxed a brand new ready-to-run.... magnificent, my friend!
Thank you. It is absolutely gorgeous!
What a beautiful piece of Kyosho history. That chain-drive system looks like it could rotate the Earth! Super sweet Keith!
Thank you. Love that car.

Definitely. You can tell it wasn’t just thrown together.

That’s worthy of back in the day Catalog photos👍
Yes! Those funky plastic body washers are original to the car! The Turbo Optima I built back in the day also had those.

Hi Keith… I don’t know if you finished your outdoor track or I missed a video? Other than that, happy new year!! All the best to you your family!!!
The last video was part 3. Weather went to shit in a hurry and will have to finish it in the spring.
Absolute beauty! Imagine having one of those in 1984! It looks as good as anything out there today.
I totally agree! Thanks George.
