Love my Bowsaws, used them quite frequently when I was clearing brush at my old property.

I have the 30 and it's the best bow saw I've ever had.

I have 3 Bahco bow saws 36, 30 and 24" . And my experience is the 30 is best especially with the 51 30 blade . 36 is little awkard and blade flexes a little and can not be adjusted . The 24 is too short of stroke and I feel like I am playing a fiddle.

I have the 24" model and I like it a lot. Good saws for a good price. Thanks for the review :)

The price is indeed great. You get like 3-4 of these for the price of one Silky :-)

For most camping trips I'd much rather have a saw than an axe or hatchet. Makes the firewood task quicker and easier ... quieter too.

I was going to say a Bahco made in Portugal???? At least its outsourcing within Europe, ehh

I have a real nice take down Buck saw that a friend made for me...i use 24" Bahco blades exclusively and they are awesome!
The thirty inch Bahco bow saw would no doubt work better...but as you say, a bit cumbersome...atb...woods

I have a Baco 36" version from long ago in the Stanley name..it's amazing, but it doesn't have that plastic handle and it's blue and says Made in Sweden!

Looks quite similar to my trusty 'ol orange SANDVIK 9 762MM (30")... GOING ON 40+ YEARS!!! Made in Sweden of course. No snow where you are in Finland??? Plenty here in Alaska --- I will try to toss you a few snow scoots full over the north pole!!!

    • @Helsinkipop
      @Helsinkipop  7 років тому

I'm looking forward to that toss. The coastal areas are quite bare at the moment. Sturdy bowsaws run forever.

I noticed the teeth were irregularly spaced to prevent chattering. Small but nice touch.

I am sorry, but this blade is for dry wood. The Sandvik blades for green wood have different teeth so you would go much faster in your case.

On kyllä hyvä saha, vaikkei ehkä se kaikkein kompaktein ottaa mettään mukaan mut kyllä se hyvin kulkee repun kyljessä mukana. Mulla on toi 21" malli itellä. :)

Nice video. I have a Sandvik 30", older model. Works well. I have two extra blades aswell. Got it all for $12 at a flea market. I'm not scared of the size regards to backpacking actually. Put some broad velcro on both sides of the blade and put it in a big backpack... should work fine.

"Byggnadsarbetaren" tested bowsaws a couple of years back (www.byggnadsarbetaren.se/files/Pdf-tester/2012-14-test.pdf) and the Swedish made "G-Man" won followed by Biltemas saw (that is made by the same company). Bacho came second last. Could be worth checking up if you like these sort of saws.

I can’t get the blade off. I unscrewed the wingnut but the blade is still too tight. I don’t want to bend the blade trying to force it off. Any suggestions?

@@stardust-hr8wh thanks! I managed to get it released. It seems like the frame was all ceased up, I have it a light bang with a mallet and it freed it up now it’s easy to remove the blade.

Hey Pop, 'Bang for the buck'.. a cheap bow saw+sweat, $. Ease of use, portability....Silky, $$$. It is always a dilemma for the 'frugal' man. Thanks for the video, and especially 'to thine own heart be true'. Kiitos veli.
