    I was thinking about getting one of these, I was reading articles about this vs the HPI Baja and it was kinda making me change my mind, but I always watch your videos about this and how yours works just as good as an HPI Baja and I want it again, thanks!!!

      Hey man, thanks for the comment and watching!!! I mean lets face it, everyone seems to upgrade the HPI anyway, whats the difference. Mine is fine, I don't thrash it, just yet. But even then, the price difference is just enormous, you know. I could understand if it was like a 20% difference, then maybe I'd choose HPI, but it's literally over a 100% difference here. Even if this is $500 and HPI is $1000, thats a 100% increase, you know.. Learning on one of these is fine, you should get one too, this is the bottom of the market right now, LOL.

      Bro w rovan and km they started to upgrade their quality but you still have to thoroughly go over every screw and lock tite them. Ans expect to break shit if u bash it I dont shelf queen my losi 5t and only thing I ever broke was my bumper after several I mean several jumps I'd take the losi 5t over everything that thing is mint best rc I've had to date. Worth every red cent. But rovan put a plastic spur gear in their baja I met a kid who bought one and right in front of my eyes boom the plastic spur gear got stripped clean. Like wtf be so cheap w a important part in the way it drives and after that he broke more shit ..... u def get better quality from losi and hpi hands down. But if u get rovan be prepared to go over it and upgrade shit alot faster. Then losi or hpi all I did was add rear and front chassis covers to take the beating from bashing then I added a ikilly 2 kill switch by hilantonics which is hands down the best. Then a jet pro cyclone pipe 1 inch velocity stack filter aluminum manifold 8x red spring clutch and I run it on 100 octane cam 2 mixed w amsoil dominator ( Botajell recommended 👍👍) and what a diff man

      I gotta say, I love mine. Nothing at all wrong with it so far. Make sure to run a good oil and stick to a 25:1 ratio for the first gallon or so. Then some people go to 28:1, you wont notice much of a difference but it's slightly more cost effective and should be fine with a good synthetic 2 stroke oil.

    I'm guessing you'll find very little performance difference with and without the can. The expansion chamber is the biggest performance changer on a 2 smoke exhaust as as long as thw muffler isn't super restrictive it'll mostly just make it more quiet (which Im sure the commoners will appreciate:)

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  5 років тому +1

      hey buddy!! thanks for watching!! You're completely right, this model already has a pretty good pipe compared to a basic can style exhaust. I only use the silencer because here in NYC the people would not tolerate this kind of noise, lol. I would literally get swarmed by a dozen parks or state parks police (pretty much like when I fly my DJI phantom drone). ahahah.

      hybrid32494 me and my buddy both had the first gen HPI 5B, he installed a mechanical front brake kit.
      His Baja would stop in almost 1/2 the distance as mine, they make a huge difference once you get them dialed in.
      I still have my HPI 5B but everything on it is in need of a rebuild.
      I’m thinking of getting the Rovan 36cc 5B and just using my HPI as a parts car.
      Oh and you should definitely add a kill switch upgrade.
      Safety first 👍

      hey man!! All you concerns are valid to a degree, I know many you tubers have made those claims. To be honest with you, I never had a single broken or loose part on any of my Rovans. Even the high end Team-Losi 1/5 needs all the screws to be removed and threadlocked, so this is not unique to Rovan. I actually never did that on any of my RCs, and they are find. Just check your screws visually once in a while and at first. I never stripped a diff gear either.

      hey bro! thanks for watching. I think you're talking about the number of heat cycles, right? Anyway, the normal heat cycle range is 4-8. I do around 6 heat cycles myself. I've got many good "pre-start vids" on this model, please watch them before you try to start your new baja. Many guys don't do the heat cycles anymore and it's a controversial topic overall, but it's recommended by Rovan and avoid any warranty issues you should do as stated in the very good instructions it will come with. Let me know if you need any help bro, I'm here for all my viewers!!

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  4 роки тому

      hey bro!! I'd say the nitrous system for real cars make a difference bc they are 4-strokes, while these are 2-strokes. These 1/5 gas motors already make alot of power for their displacement compared to 4-stroke engines. A good cheap and reliable way to get more power is just run VP race fuel. You really don't want to mess around with the nitrous kits, it's a huge hassle. Did you see the video where this baja towed a whole damn XMass tree and still drove fine, and that was stock. Yo see what I'm saying. any more power and it'll just spin all the time.

      @@hybrid32494 As you've noticed the Rovan and King Motors RC 's come RTR with much bigger engines, so out of the box they already have the edge!!
      And no one ever upgrades using the HPI brand interchangeable parts, everyone orders aftermarket parts... lol
      So in my opinion it's clearly a better bang for your money!!
      Braaaaap!!!!

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  5 років тому +2

      exactly!!! The hpi original parts are super pricey too, about the same prices as good aluminum parts. I gotta say that I love the handling characteristics of these, I've driven it pretty hard on pavement and no flipping at all, takes turns well too. And zero torque steer.

    • @johnsonger3232
      @johnsonger3232 4 роки тому

      It's the same way in every industry. All the clones are considered inferior by the elitists. For example a Smith and Wesson SD series is just a few details from being a Glock. Glock actually sued em it was so close to their design yet Gock owners swear it's junk because it's not a original. I'm planning on spending possibly the purchase of the Rovan on upgrades too. At that point the price investment will be about same and the Rovan will SPANK a King or HPI by far.

IF you're using a good quality racing oil like klotz or maxima or others and a 25:1 mx you should have no issues long term. Many people don't even do heat cycles and their engines are fine, so it's one of those things that we cant verify for now. glad you're having fun so far!!!

      hey buddy! thanks for watching! I don't want you to think there is a 100% right way of doing this, But I will give you some basic guidelines. I generally do about 5 (8 - 10 minute) heat cycles. With small throttle blips (25 throttle) on your last 2 cycles. Then just simply run the car at upto 50% throttle with gentle acceleration and braking. Man people don't even break these things in, and they run fine, there is alot of controversy on this issue. 25:1 for break in, then you can easily go to 30:1 and 35:1 after half a gallon. I currently run around 35:1.

    i hear ya about rovan vs the hpi people, i've been wanting a 1/5 for about 10 yrs but just couldn't justify the price, i bought my rovan used for 250 last fall, and when you buy parts for the hpi look on the tag and see where those parts are made, yup the same countries where the rovan & king motors come from, don't get me wrong i have 3 blitz sc's one is the ese pro truck which i won by winning a stock sc points series down in fl. all these hpi purists shouldn't be hating so much because the clones get people into the hobby which in turn supports the hobby. oh yea great vid!!

They should bring back the white parts on some models. I was listing though my old RC mags and came across the Duratrax Firehammer, you ever seen those? This was a 2002 mag, so that duratrax buggy pre-dates the HPI Baja by a while.

    Good for you, i enjoyed the vid. Although i have the privilege of owning a modest collection. I have all brands and perhaps its not as big as some You tubers collection, but that was never the intention anyways. Many hobbyist stand behing a major vender or big name brands and thats ok. I also enjoy Traxxas, HPI and Align. But this hobby is really costly, so, although i do not agree with clones. I also understand that not everyone wants to spend lots of money just to have a little fun. Go on ebay and view how many name brand RCs are sold, i would love to have the Hpi buggy but i also dont mind having the Rovan. I spend my money on what makes me happy. Freedom of choice, in the end despite what anyone purchases(for the most part) you will always end up, upgrading it. I dont own many RCs that are stock...so to each his own! hey man, great comment, I totally agree with you. I've also got many real HPI/traxxas/losi newer and Vintage models. They are great for what they are. When it came to 1/5 scale the pricing is just outrageous for an HPI Baja, No point in that. Thats why these clones are so popular, I mean literally about 1/3 the price, same specs, same parts, etc. And the HPI Baja seems to rarely even come on sale on eBay, and when it does, it's the older low spec motor versions and they sell for over 600.
