  • Chinatown Complex Hawker Centre is one of the most popular and large hawker centre situated in the heart of Singapore. It offers a range of various dishes, such as Hainanese chicken rice, dumplings, char kway teow, satay, rojak, popiah and laksa, at reasonable prices.

    Here’s the food we ate:
    Xiao Long Bao: A type of Chinese steamed dumpling filled with meat and/or seafood, and a savoury broth. They are traditionally steamed in small bamboo steaming baskets. The most common filling for xiao long bao is pork, but you can also find xiao long bao filled with crab meat, shrimp, or vegetables.
    Szechuan Spicy Wanton: This dish is a popular Chinese appetizer made of small dumplings filled with minced meat and spices, served in a spicy sauce made with Szechuan peppercorns, chili oil, garlic, and other seasonings. If you are a fan of spicy food and want to try something new and exciting, the Szechuan Spicy Wanton at Chinatown Complex Hawker Centre is definitely worth a try !!

    The 1950’s Coffee: This stall is well known for its traditional, fragrant and aromatic coffee drinks and is popular among locals and tourists alike. The stall is run by an elderly couple who have been serving traditional coffee for decades. They are famous for their traditional brewing method and strong coffee taste.

    169 Hainanese Chicken Rice: The most popular dish in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in Singapore and Malaysia and is considered a national dish of Singapore. The dish is made with poached chicken that is served with fragrant rice cooked in chicken broth, and is often accompanied by a ginger-chili sauce and a clear chicken broth soup.

    Jia Ji Mei Shi: Jellyfish is a traditional Chinese dish that is often served as a cold appetizer and it is a common dish to be found in Jia Ji Mei Shi (Family-style cuisine) style of dining. It is made from jellyfish that is soaked in a mixture of vinegar and salt to remove its rubbery texture, and then it's usually dressed with a variety of seasonings such as sesame oil, soy sauce, and scallions. It's a dish that is often enjoyed as a refreshing and tangy appetizer, and it's usually paired with some kind of spicy sauce or condiments.

    Chinatown Fried Dough Stick: Red bean Buns are a traditional Chinese pastry that is made from sweet glutinous rice flour and filled with sweet red bean paste. The dough is steamed and the filling is usually made from sweetened red beans that have been cooked and mashed.

    Old Amoy Chendol: It is a sweet and refreshing dessert that is perfect for Singapore's hot and humid weather. The green rice flour jelly is soft and chewy, and the coconut milk and palm sugar syrup provides a rich and sweet flavour along with red beans.

    Ann Chin Handmade Popiah: A traditional Hokkien dish that is similar to a spring roll. They are famous for their popiah's texture, taste, and balance of flavours.

    Loved you vids....even as a local, I am glad that most tourists enjoy the Singapore hawker centers.
    BTW, at 2:15 when you asked for more chilli.....the lady beside you was ordering 100 pieces at S$65. Aren't you glad you came a few minutes earlier ??

      Bro....there are 4 sections to this hawker center...each have like 68 stalls to 88 stalls depending on how you divide the sections and/or if you count by stall numbers..... the unofficial count is 268 stalls or "over 260 stalls"....
      Sadly no tourist....even those staying for 14 days at the nearby boutique hotels 3 minutes walk away could even scratch the surface on Singapore Chinatown hawker center. I had a friend who easily had 10 dinners over his 3 weeks stay did not manage 30% of the stalls.
      Then also note if you walk 4 min south, there is the Maxwell food center, further 3 min south is the Amoy street food center. But if you walked east for 6 min, there is the Tanjong Pagar food center (Level 2, above market). If you walked west for 4 min, there is the Hong Lim food center.....
      So within just 7 min "walk" radius, there is literally 872 hawker stalls and probably 100 resaurants and eateries (not including highend ones in hotels etc).
