This film shows the 1979 series of Suzuki motorcycles. It opens with the FZ-50 (:17). The JR-50 sits strapped atop a trailer (:24). The bike is a light-weight 82 pound off roading vehicle (:33). These were ideal for very young riders as a boy has his yellow helmet strapped to his head (:36). One of the boys takes off in the JR-50 (:48). The OR-50 was a street legal bike (1:28) which could also be ridden recreationally. The features of the mini bike are highlighted (1:41). Flame decals and a high back added to the traditional roadster look (1:54). The Suzuki DS-80 (2:11) is compared to the high performing DS-180 (2:14). The TS was considered to be a dual purpose bike (2:39) as young women are pictured riding them in the street (2:45). The TS-128 (2:56) and TS-185 (2:58) follow. The Suzuki DR and SP370 ride together (3:14). The DR-370 (4:00) follows. These bikes have won multiple Enduro Awards (4:24) including six gold medals. The Enduros of 1979 awarded the bike the best trail bikes (4:48). Suzuki RM’s for 1979 follow (5:26). A slew of bikes are presented including the GS-425 and GS-425E (5:33), GS-550 and GS-550E (5:48) and the GS-750 and 750E. GS-100’s sit outside an ice cream shop (5:58). The segment cuts to another promotion as break in models of the GS are used for performance tests (7:58). A drag strip test is first shown (8:15). Editors and testers go over results (8:45). This information is translated into blueprints (8:53). Motorcycle Magazine tested the GS-750 (9:20). They also photographed the bike's engine and parts (10:49). The bike zooms down the track (11:58) as run times were reported in the 12’s for the quarter mile (12:08). Road tests are conducted on the highway for GS-750’s (12:25). High speed performance is evaluated (13:05). The bike is compared to competitor models (13:54). The GS-550 follows (14:54) as well as the GS-400 (14:58). The Suzuki GSX series; based on Suzuki’s TSCC engine is looked to next (15:35). An image of the German magazine ‘Motorrad’ follows (15:45). Other magazines from around the world include the French ‘Motor Journal’ (15:55) and the Japanese ‘Motor Rider’ (16:01). Cycle Magazine’s review follows (18:11). Innovative features are highlighted (15:56). Handling capabilities are demonstrated around a track (19:23). The narrator appears at a gas station to note they were good on gas mileage (19:36). GS-250’s ride in the street (20:05). GS's are pictured at the starting line of a drag strip (20:23). Terry Vance had ridden the GS-1100 (21:10). This film was presented by Suzuki Motor Corp and was a Denker Film production (21:39).

Rode right up the woodpile and took the eavestrough off the workshop with my skull riding a JR50, I was 5. Good time to be a kid.

For 1979, the little 50 dirt bike and the gs1000s were everywhere. Anything else in 79 was all yamaha and honda cr

Never had a Suzi back in the day (1970 - 80's), only the other 3 popular brands of Japanese bikes. A friend did have a Suzi GT 380 which was a cool machine.
I had a sierra 185. Can't remember the year but it was a quick ride for the times. Last Suzuki I bought was an 84 rm250 and it was just junk. It needed a bored and a new piston every month but was not really much quicker than the 185. Got an 86 xr600 after that. That XR went a lot of miles at 100+mph through the desert of new mexico.

My first cycle was the ts185 Sierra, then a ts400 Apache. Then came across a gs750L years later. I still have this one. I won't part with it. I have always had good luck with them.

But, back then, I was 19 years old and girls didn’t ‘shave dat thang’ unfortunately. ☹️

I just had to see what Yamaha had to offer in 1977 for the 750 class, me being partial to Yamaha and all. It was the XS750 shaft drive. The reviews were indeed not good for this bike. It's strange how the XS650 had the cult following. Maybe the XS650 was faster than the XS750? I know that the Maxim 550 was faster than the 650.
