    I spoke with a professional tool repairer today and he said that often it's just not possible to get the chuck off a cordless drill. He said it's because they can be so powerful that the chuck is effectively locked on and that if you try the 'hitting the alan key in the chuck method' you'd end up bending the spindle.

      Pretty much what I found with mine. Wanted to swap out the chuck to a 1/2in from a 3/8, but not worth the effort. The whole drill was $25 anyway.

    Excelente video bien bien claro muchas gracias. Pregunta. Este tipo de mandril aguanta trabajo pesado como hacer agujeros en metal primordialmente. Saludos y gracias. Desde Guatemala

    That's fine and dandy, but what about taking the screw out before removing the chuck and replacing it after the new chuck is installed?

    Have a 20 volt craftsman with a keyless chuck. Either the "screw" takes a tiny tool, or I have no screw like this one. OBTW- Craftsman, help does not seem to have heard about this setup

    IF you have a newer model you still have to remove the body to get to the hub.

    I said this on another video but I'll repeat it again for people who don't know> if your drill does not have a spindle lock don't even attempt to install a keyless chuck because you won't be able to reliably tighten it!
    Instead a keyed chuck is designed for such drills.

    • @vaguincolombia
      @vaguincolombia Рік тому

      Actually that chuck is designed to be used with any kind of drill. that chuck has two parts, one stationary to hold the chuck and the other one which is the moving part to open or close the claws. The chucks that ONLY has the moving part to open and close, those are chucks for spindle lock drills.

    • @AutodidactEngineer
      @AutodidactEngineer Рік тому

      @@vaguincolombia doean't matter because you still can't grip the back part of the chuck properly so my argument atill stands.
      (For any serious work that is)

    • @vaguincolombia
      @vaguincolombia Рік тому

      @@AutodidactEngineerWell i have one and yes you can grip the back part. nowadays drill bits comes with 1/4 In. Hex Shank Drills so you dont need a gorila grip to secure the bit.

    i have an old drill with 10inch manual chuck... ...can i change to 13mm keyless drill chuck?

  • @johnbower
    @johnbower 5 років тому +3

    Was there a reason why you did not insert the machine screw straight after mounting the chuck, especially as the chuck had already been tightened with the large hex key.

    Does anybody know how to pull apart a Skil chuck? My drill is the 6555A, 13mm model, and doesn't have a central screw inside the chuck. That's why I don't know how to even start the disassembling. Thank you in advance.

    • @masBARLINwoodworking

      If you do not have a central screw, immediately disassemble it in the first way, drill the green one

    Is that applicable for impact drills? Does the chuck won't loose while drilling? It's keyless without holding bolt.

    Jaws of my keyless $40 Ryobi corded drill were frozen. Victim of heat or fine dust, not sure which. No way to hold a bar to remove the chuck. No obvious screw. Took off case, think the chuck is designed to be difficult to service. Returned it barely within its return period, got my money back.

      That's my Ryobi P252,no screw just a 1/4" bit holder inside the chuck.

      Grind a bolt down to 3 sides. Insert bolt, put socket on bolt, impact drive it out. MUCH easier, and you can use the bolt for any drill

    Fail. "all types of drill" do not have flats for using an open end wrench to secure the arbor, the Makita I have in my hand, nor none of the three old Craftsman's I have.

      You can get it on Amazon for 120-250 rupee. Just make sure to get the correct thread ( 20UNF or 24UNF) & correct shank (straight or SDS).

    No, saying it's for ALL types of drills, in not true. I tried this on DeWalt, Bosch, and Milwaukee. NONE came loose.

      So many of these guys are wrong about “ALL TYPES”, I could spit.
      Thx for writing what I was about to.
      I have 5 drills and not one has a nut coming off the drive shaft and a spiffy skinny unbendable open end wrench.
