I usually use a little lemon juice in my dish then take the rest of the unused lemon peel and all and just chow down on it on the spot. With this hole poking trick with the lemon I find I get a delightful tangy squirt rushing straight down my neck tube every time I devour the fruit like a horrible beast. Thank you so much.
For people who use lemon juice only very occasionally (even a non-cut up lemon gets bad at some point): Cut them into slices or half slices and put them in the freezer: 1. Arrange the slices on a flat surface (I use a plastic lid) in such a way that they don't (or barely) touch one another and put it in the freezer. 2. After a few hours, or when you suddenly remember the next day, put them in a ziplock bag (or some other container). Because you froze them separately first, you shouldn't have any issues with them sticking together. 3. Whenever you need some lemon juice for a dish, get one or a few slices out of the freezer 5-10 min before you need to use it so they can thaw, or if you forgot to do it beforehand, pop them in the microwave for 10-20 sec. This really helped me a lot. I don't use lemon juice in dishes very often. So when I needed lemon juice, I generally didn't have lemons at home. Or when I bought a lemon especially for the dish, I used a quarter of it and then 3 weeks later I find a rancid lemon somewhere in the back of my fridge. By having some in the freezer, I always have it when I need to use it and I never feel obliged to find other uses for the lemon in the days after I made the dish. I know you have those plastic lemon-like bottles of lemon juice you can buy, but have you ever tasted it by itself? It tastes aweful, I prefer fresh lemon from the freezer.
Well this is the only one that's not that great. You get the same result in a kitchen blender, but the onions get all mushy and loose all the juice. Not an alternative to the standard method imo
Grating an onion instead of chopping it with a sharp knife MASSIVELY changes both its smell and taste. Grating damages more cells, which causes chemical reaction with sulphuric compounds that give the onion its pungent smell. It is NOT recommended as a substitute for chopping, merely a way to bring onion's stench to the highest level if for some reason you want to.
Great video! On the onion / grater.... it will make the onion more wet, so it does make a different "product" - for instance if you mix it, it will make everything more wet than when you put chopped onion in it.
Another way to "de-shell" a hard boiled egg is to put the egg in a glass put just a little bit a water and put a lid on top and shake it up really good the peel should just come right off so you have a perfectly peeled egg.
I was Just about to ask for a sushi recipe... on another note, the lemon hack is Genius! The bread one I knew and yes it Is fantastic, but the lemon hack blew my mind
Aside from some hacks to actually be considered a "hack" I think it is very nice of someone to try and make everyone else's lives easier :) Creative minds are special.
wow i love these hacks!!!! I loved the onion one the most!! Keep up the good work and never leave youtube! Also could you make more egg hacks?i love those Thank you!
i use to scoop an egg out of the shell with a spoon. it is a very easy and fast way. I have to try the bread trick though, it seems really useful. Thanks. 👍
First off..Love your voice and speaking style...Next...Great cooking tips...I have been doing things the hard way...and the boring wazy!! TYSM, Davy!!!!
My fav was the lemon trick, not only to preserve it but I have a recipe I use often where I have to squeeze lemon juice over a pan of broccoli. I also really liked the strawberry one as I never cut the tops off. I pinch, turn and pull the greens like I would a tomato and usually have a mushy part at the top. This looks like a much better way. Always a use for the bread hack too!
The thing that causes bread to go stale and/ or mouldy is moisture. Storing it in a plastic bag only speeds up this process as it creates a humid environment. If you keep the bread in a paper bag it can breathe better and stay fresher for longer. If it goes dry before you can eat it all there are many things you can do with it still. You can turn it into bread crumbs, make croutons, bruschetta or bread and butter pudding and can also be used as a thickening agent in soups and sauces. Or feed it to birds and fish if you want an excuse to get outside. If you are really worried about longevity of your bread, slice it up and store it in the freezer and then thaw out only what you need as you need it. Bread doesn't take long to thaw from frozen and only goes soggy while thawing if the bread had excess moisture before being frozen such as is found in bread that is still warm from the oven or has sweated inside a plastic bag
i like that miyabi knife with the cork handle(not sure if its cork, i have the non-wood handle), ive had those and shuns and i think i like the miyabi better! nice vid!

Ever thought of just plucking off the tops of the strawberries? That way nothing is lost. I just eat the whole thing leaves and all anyway
umm... I've never eaten its leaf. how does it tastes?
petrowho taste like nothing. The strawberry flavour overpowers the leaves also so there's no leaf taste
Jonathan Lee
lol...you eat the leaves too..
i'm also gonna try this😂
Priyanka Chaudhary try it. I'm serious
you can eat kiwi with its skin too. it's little bit hairy, but it saves you time.
