Hey Bot, i enjoy watching your videos a lot. I've stopped watching the other pilots because they are all the same somehow, but you come up with another interesting topic every time and i think that's absolute awesome. Keep doing what makes you happy my friend
been flying the iflight nazgul 5 and it's been extremely durable on bando bashing but my next frame is 100% going to be the demibot. I love the design and out of all the fpv guys out there you're channel has the best content 🙌🙌
Me to on the nazgul, I so wish it didn't have those light channels on the arms. Looks cool, but I broke two arms where the screw goes through the arm and the channel sort of splits there also. Like maybe it would hold off that channel wasn't there? To be fair, I failsafed twice at about 300 feet onto concrete. So I don't know if all arms would break on all drones. Maybe they would. But it flys great
You're right it is a lot to getting into hobbies, and no one talks about the extras you need, batteries, battery chargers, soldering gun, special tools, taps, solder, zip ties, nuts bolts spare parts to repair frames, on and on. although the Grinderino hasn't broke frame parts yet, i am trying 😊 did take out camera, why do they put square corners on square brick buildings? Plus software, electronic replacement parts, radios goggles. All you see is the drone flown by people who rarely crash, at least in the videos, rearly do I go out to fly 5 packs and come back without broken drone (s). But it is so wild, worth every penny, fun as hell no matter how old you get, started at 67 and wonder why the F*$#@ I wastent involve before. Your videos are real and i enjoy them. I am to old to get as good as you, but fun as hell trying……
i literally have 0 problems with my iflight nazgul, its also super easy to work on and upgrade. good to learn tuning on. I have crashed the shit out of it, and only broken props. I literally don't see any problems with bind and flies, other than the fact that they might have wonky tunes from the factory. edit: price also, maybe a few years ago before covid you could source parts for a really good freestyle build, relatively cheap, but you cant do that anymore. I had multiple wish lists and shopping carts with different builds, and I never committed because its cheaper to purchase a bind and fly, and just upgrade as stuff breaks. Using the nazgul as an example, i purchased it for 200 on banggood, even after shipping it was cheaper than buying all of the parts and putting it together myself. Decent stacks are at least $70-100, 4 motors and a spare is at least $60-80 dollars, then add a $20-50 frame, 800mw vtx, Decent good quality camera, receiver, a couple sets of props, thats at least $250, and thats for cheap parts.
The Nazgul frame (both the F5X and the F5D), just like the BotGrinder frame, has 6mm arms held together by 3mm plates. While Foxeer do not give full specs for their frame, judging by the weight, is seems like a very lightweight frame and therefore the carbon used for the arms and plates must be quite a bit thinner? I have tons of time for Doug, but on this one, he does not get my vote as he chose a single B'nF quad and drew generalised assumptions about all.
Bought my Roma F5 almost 2 years ago. Love it still. Edit: There are lots of reasons people go BNF. Low stock on parts, long shipping times. They're in a hurry to get started. Don't "want" to solder, or just don't have time.
Really? 🤔 Whenever the masses start doing the hobby, it ruins it, everytime. It's one of the reasons we have remote ID now. The hobby was growing at a decent pace organically. Once they started making it easier for new people to get involved it all went downhill. So I disagree with that opinion.
Interesting and fun video review of bnf "freestyle" drones, well one bnf. Apparently there's quite a few "pilots" that really like the Nazgul, see if iflight will send you one to rip. I love to build my own, but these days I can see people buying a bnf to get going. Or they don't have time to build or want to. They are so much better than those made just a few years ago. Happy ripping everyone. 👍💖😎
I heard you BOT... I ordered your new Demibot frame today along with the 3D prints from Brain3D. Cost me half as much again in postage but hey, that shit is worth it bro. Just got to order your motors now and sit and wait for the good times to arrive. Your the best, dude, keep up the good work...
@@BOTGRINDER no worries bro. Funny how Botgrinder gives us links for a "shitty" freestyle quad. I have bought 3 Freestyle Quads and built 2 on my own and I never had a problem like "The receiver stopped working" or "the screws striped". I think it has to do with the very negative opinion Botgrinder has towards bnf's P.S. It's Delaware

Great video BOTGRINDER! Bnf have come a long way for sure and you are correct - a lot of bnf drones have weak frames. Ideally someone should purchase a bnf and a demibot frame at the same time. When the bnf frame breaks convert components over to a real freestyle frame like the demibot💯 (I always adjust pids on bnf to my liking)
I build my quads but my wife bought me a bnf iflight evoque 1 year ago. For Christmas, I've been bashing 6s hard still flies like a champ. Not a fan but just do like it.
There is something over near that tower that made me failsafe this past summer first failsafe I've had with crossfire. Awesome video and definitely agree that building drones is usually more durable of a option 🤟
Pause the video when bot is approaching the tower, there are loads of antennas on top of that tower. I'd say that's why you guys failsafed there. A friend of mine once failsafed with crsf on top of a wind turbine. They got antennas on there too. Don't know what frequency those are on but they sure got loads of power.
Thank you, you described these nuanced differences very well. I don't have grass where I live and I've already had a smaller "freestyle" BNF take a beating after taking one hard dirt nap. Steep learning curve to build though... It's daunting.
Hey bot, i know you're not really into the whole technical side of fpv. But i have a question, I've been trying to set up my vtx in betaflight and it hasn't been working, i was like "...wtf" and decided to open up the drone and replug the USB... Turns out my vtx doesn't power up from usb. Is that normal?
@@BOTGRINDER I meant when I plug in the flight controller, the vtx doesn't power up. It turns out I needed a battery. I thought my vtx was dead even though the drones brand new
I've been flying FPV for just a few months and got my first 5inch and went with a BNF because I was a little overwhelmed about setting up all the betaflight and receiver stuff. Bought a GEPRC MK 5 and it seems pretty legit. I fucked up and got Frsky so it has fail safed twice (once on a snowy rough that I had to gorilla rescue lol) Just got ELRS so learning that now. And the Kwad is completely undamaged so we will se how it does. BNF are a lot better now and for a first FPV drone I think they serve a purpose. Definitely will build my own from now on though.
Whenever I've looked at a bnf, it's with the expectation that I'd be putting its guts into another frame shortly thereafter. I don't do much Bando stuff, though. But sometimes it's somehow cheaper to get the bnf than get the parts individually. Either way my goal is to always have enough parts laying around to build a new quad or fixed wing. The bnfs are just fuel for the fire lol
I bought a BnF GEPRC Mark 5. The build quality was questionable. There were chips in the wires that go from the vista to the FC. Those chips had been wrapped in bits of electrical tape from the factory (weird way to deal with that, just replace the wires before shipping it?). Also, I didn't have to strip my screws in the top plate because they came pre stripped. Now this thing flies like a beast. There is nothing it can't do but if I crash on a hard surface it's probably gonna snap an arm. Overall, haven't had a lot of drones but this is the best yet. Love it!
Out of the 14 quads I have, half are BNF. Some are better than others. The best one I have is the T-Motor FT5. Literally one of my favorite quads next to my Armattan Marmotte (also BNF)
Bro, I have ordered your new demibot frame, 3D print kit but I can’t get your V4 motors anywhere. TBS have them but I can’t order them due to the stupid Zip/state on the delivery address section. We don’t have these in the UK. Help bro I really need a set of these motors. You rock dude.
@@BOTGRINDER I’ll give it a go bud. I did check quite a few but they don’t stock them. I found one that has the V2 and sent them an email. Hopefully I will get a response soon. Stay safe bro.
I have this frame on my 5 inch as it fits a 30x30mm HDZero VTX in the rear. Love how it flies, but the arms are a definite weak point and I've broken a couple now. Will change frame soon
Good video like what you do Your frames are the best the strongest And if you want to grow as an ftv pilot you will Need a strong durable bando bashing frame
I had a wizard 220 from years ago. I was like 16 and I crashed it and didn’t have the funds to repair it so it sat in a closet. Recently I got back into FPV and I slowly replaced every single part as a matter of repair. Haven’t had to do much work since. The Eachine wizard is old though, and it seems like most bnf drones these days are equipped with good hardware and come pretuned. I imagine it would’ve been far easier to get into fpv now.
I would never fly if it wasn’t for BNF. As you said, not everyone has the time or necessity for the absolute best and most resilient. Imagine if everyone who wanted to drive a car had to build their own.
Some of us don't have office parks or bandos where we could fly. It seems a very metro-centric viewpoint. You make due with what you have. If that's bandos, great. If that's parks fine. If that's a country gravel road with wheat fields on either side and a lone, overgrown tree, you make due. As you said, Freestyle is Freestyle. I mean, Bardwell is a respected Freestyler and he mainly flies around his farm. We make due with what we got. Finally, not every session needs to be a full-send. Sometimes it is nice to just cruise.
@@BOTGRINDER - Understood, it just wasn't clear in the video, hence my response. I'm a city flyer myself but we don't have any bandos to fly in since the old buildings are either deep inside the city and boarded up (and are along main roads where bored cops roam), or are torn down rather quickly and something else built in their place. Construction sites are almost always gated off with private security patrolling and people are always calling the cops the moment you try to fly there. Office Parks are extremely tiny or have private security always roaming around. We want to freestyle but we only really have parks to fly in, so even if we are in an urban setting we just have to use what we have.
I want one of these frames, for long range mountain cruising this little boi would be pretty ideal. why don't more manufactures use colored carbon fiber like this frame? it looks pretty cool.
Energy all goes somewhere. I'd rather snap a $7 arm than trash the motor on the end of it...love your brutal honesty....too many "yes men" in this shiny-new-toy hobby. Keep bashin' that which needs to be bashed!
Ill add I think BNF long range quads are good. Here is an example the Iflight Titan or even GEprc Crocodile. Yes it has the DJI Digital because I like digital. Anyway the titan and the croc have been reliable frames that can handle crashing into large boulders/mountain rocks and such. Its not hardcore freestyle but if you really want to "go and go" then these two quads and many others are worth a look. Just my 2 cents worth
The I flight tune is off the chain. You gotta change that taste. I the nazgul is murderous... even though it's quite heavy. I mode it a bit. Maybe like a camera or vtx change or antenna change. But bnf are getting crazy good.
Read my mind... need a good parts list for a demibot build... I fly with frsky transmitter since I never graduated since I don't know crap about building... time to take off the training wheels...
Yeah I agree 2 years ago I bought a nazgul 5inch and it broke so much, I still have it (technically) but literally every part aside from the camera has been swapped to something else
I have the foxeer aura 5 I use it more for cinematic cruising and open park/ tree freestyle, if I go bando bashing I take a rebel graffiti 5 which is a legit flying brick
Soooo yeah being completely honest 2 bnf got me started and in the air which was awesome. As those stand now everything on both has been replaced except for the stack lol. Definitely will need a better frame to start and do it right pay for a good one like bots. 💯
@@dangerous8333 Didn't say all bnf's just said my experience with ones I purchased. There is many great factors that go with a bnf and one is customer support. Mine had great customer support live chat with that on thankful. But now I have learned I will only build in future 💯
For the specific purpose of flying bandos i do agree with you that the current BNF's outthere dont last long. However i think that might be intended, cause if they marketed them as being tough enough for that, they would get a lot of people RMA'ing them back. There are quite a few that are good for normal freestyle. The TransTEC beetle, Diatone Roma power Kit's and to some degree the Eachine Tyro's, those have all worked really well for me.
My Transtec Beetle got swept up in an insane updraft and carried a few streets away. When I went to get it there was only a piece of broken prop and the battery. Someone had scooped my drone. Sad day. I liked the Beetle.

Finally, not every session needs to be a full-send. Sometimes it is nice to just cruise.
all great points! but in this video im talking specifically about urban flying this one doesn't apply to a rural setting.
We want to freestyle but we only really have parks to fly in, so even if we are in an urban setting we just have to use what we have.
botgrinder, no fucks were given in the making of this video. excellent!
you sahred perfect , see ya!,)
bnf's are fine dude i loved my nazgul lasted ages too
my roma f5 is legit man. been flying it for a few years
another banger video. :D
Hay bot try the geprc mark 5 see if it's shitty,
Man will you make a BotGrinder hardcore freestyle bnf drone and end the dispute lol!!!
I want one of these frames, for long range mountain cruising this little boi would be pretty ideal.
why don't more manufactures use colored carbon fiber like this frame? it looks pretty cool.
Aint gonna lie, I fk love this channel! I think ive watched this video 5 times, just hear him say "Fuck DJI"
hi Bot great video mon
Oh 100% lr quads are exempt from my opinion in this video.
"Alcoholics " you killing me son. You're so Philly.
Damn. Calling out alcoholics for not being able to solder. 😂
Nice vid! And I had no interest in the Caddx walnut rip off camera lol 😂
Brilliant as always 👌 👏 👍
hahahhaha the DJI comment is the best :-) you really have a thing for DJI 😛
The I flight tune is off the chain. You gotta change that taste. I the nazgul is murderous... even though it's quite heavy. I mode it a bit. Maybe like a camera or vtx change or antenna change. But bnf are getting crazy good.
Read my mind... need a good parts list for a demibot build... I fly with frsky transmitter since I never graduated since I don't know crap about building... time to take off the training wheels...
Heres my build all in one place! bit.ly/3gmIZRY
Yeah I agree 2 years ago I bought a nazgul 5inch and it broke so much, I still have it (technically) but literally every part aside from the camera has been swapped to something else
I’m dying here 🤣🤣🤣 people who can’t solder, alcoholics,… Almost pee’d myself 🤣
Bro the fucking opening shot had me dead 🤣🤣
I have the foxeer aura 5 I use it more for cinematic cruising and open park/ tree freestyle, if I go bando bashing I take a rebel graffiti 5 which is a legit flying brick
Soooo yeah being completely honest 2 bnf got me started and in the air which was awesome. As those stand now everything on both has been replaced except for the stack lol. Definitely will need a better frame to start and do it right pay for a good one like bots. 💯
Some bnf's don't need to be modified.
My Roma F5 for example.
Not all bnf's are created equal and thus shouldn't be judged as a group.
@@dangerous8333 Didn't say all bnf's just said my experience with ones I purchased. There is many great factors that go with a bnf and one is customer support. Mine had great customer support live chat with that on thankful. But now I have learned I will only build in future 💯
I think I agree completely with what you say.
Build em like a tank! Bnf's are not tanks
Mine is.
🤷
damn, i actually wanted to try that frame because i like light weight shit (i fly fpvcycle glides) , but that crash was weak AF.
I fuck with ur videos bro I'm a lil new to fpv I don't see to many pilots with face tatts so its good to see someone like me doing this like me!
I love my nazgul5 v2 bnf but all ive ever flown are bnf so maybe im dumb
@@whereverimayroam74 Wind and Beetles dont play well, sad thats its gone, but you can still find new ones at the vendors :)
