  • I take on a long term project - fixing up a 1989 Laforza - the Italian SUV brought to the USA and fitted with a Ford 302 5.0 HD. Virtually nothing works on this truck so I'll be piecing it back together...slowly. Subscribe for updates.

      Awesome! I'm going to take a wild guess and say you're in Hawaii? Likely not many Laforza's on the islands. btw, check out the Laforza Owner's Facebook page. We're in the process of revising it and I'd love to have a registry of owners.

      @@carsmartsmedia2324 Actually my Laforza is at my place in Idaho, my business in in Hawaii. I am also in process of updating it and wanting to give it a more offroad rugged look. Also if you happen to come across the wiring instructions for the "Mark Laforza" wiring upgrades, please let me know (i saw yours has the upgrade) I bought them about 5 years ago and never installed them, now I no longer have the instructions.

      Hi Greg! Nice to meet you. If you're on facebook, be sure to join "Laforza SUV Owners Group". I know you have a nice one and welcome you to join our group. I discuss the red one in the group as it's an ongoing project. Not sure I'll ever fix it up completely and my hope is to get a nice one and have this one as a donor/back-up. But for now, I got the engine running well and just waiting for some snow. :)

    I love your truck man. Definitely keep it luxurious, make it faster, and increase it's already substantial off road abilities. Don't gut it, if only because you won't be able to undo the damage so easily, as many parts are now listed as 100% certified " unobtanium". Besides, Such a rare beast, with such an interesting history, and of such prodigiously talented nature, deserves nothing less. Remember, this was considered an exotic vehicle when it was new! Enjoy fellow Philly native. Sho em' what this can be, and be happy knowing that you are unlikely to see 3 like vehicles all year. That's what I call special l.

    Fun fact: it’s italian but in Italy almost no one knows it existed :-D maybe cause here we had no SUVs and trucks in 90s... (looks like a big Fiat Uno!)

    • @carsmartsmedia2324
      @carsmartsmedia2324  4 роки тому +1

      Known as Rayton-Fissore in Italy and was used as a police truck. Not sure how many were produced and used over there but the Magnum was used a civilian SUV in Italy and other parts of Europe (and middle east?)

    • @jacopoduff90
      @jacopoduff90 4 роки тому +1

      CarSmarts Radio TV yes it was produced in Piedmont based on Iveco (that actually produces commercial and police/military vehicles) and used armored for Polizia di Stato, Guardia di Finanza and Corpo Forestale... the military version instead never won the call for bids (it was just a prototype); in Italy mostly had turbodiesel by Fiat. But as a civilian vehicle was not successful, they stopped production in 93 (there were also political issues never clarified) ten years before US. US version was absolutely better, starting from american engines ;-) anyhow I think it’s interesting for our automotive history

    As Italian, I really appreciate the idea to put an Italian flag on the hood, even if its'upside down...:)), if you can afford a full restoration, I would turn it into what it was meant to be a really First of a new breed, the Luxury SUV of the '80s, the first real Italian SUV with the Lamborghini LM002. The white pearl color was my favorite for the Magnum by Rayton Fissore, this was the name of the first Italian production run, it was built at Cherasco, in the province of Cuneo near Turin, where the headquarter of Fiat Automobiles was established.

      @carsmartsmedia2324  4 роки тому

      When all is said and done, I think I will return the flag...in the right direction...to this truck. I've grown to like it. I've barely started the restoration (and its winter in PA)...trying to get bits and parts from owners who have 2 or 3 of these things.

      There is a forum - just google "Alessio's Laforza Forum"...and while Alessio himself is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, the forum is otherwise not all that responsive or active.
      The Facebook page is growing in numbers and in activity. Lots of interchanges going on and it's been really great (and needed).
      That's about the best advice I have for you...I resisted Facebook for a long time, but do find value in the ability to post photos, questions, experiences with the group.
