I could test this Ariya 63KWh for thirty minutes, 13ºC and no AC/heating, in a mix of 50-30Kmh urban and 110-110Kmh motorway with some acceleration small proofs, and the final consumption result was astonishing! 9.5KWh!! Its true that EV's are more expensive as of nowadays, but the money you will save in fuel, oil change, insurance and maintenance is worth the price. Saw this vehicle in Tokyo last week at Nissan Future showroom. Very impressed with overall exterior and interior quality. Love the copper colour as well. Been told 2 years wait in Canada.
Nissan did a great job here. Nice materials, central console is brilliant, i like shifter as well. Great seats . Maybe the lack of physical climate control nubs little bit annoys me but overall better than most competitors
@@autogefuehl I don't mind them so much, especially when there are still dedicated touch controls which also look very cool. I find 95% of the time climate is left in auto anyways, so don't need that much adjustment. What I DO hate is lack of dedicated controls for heated seats and steering wheel. Those controls do need to be manually turned on, manually adjusted, and manually turned off all the time, and should have dedicated controls, preferably physical buttons, but at least touch controls, and not in a screen like in the Ariya.
Better interior quality than most Mercedes these days. Wow. Love the fabric on the back of the front seats and the wood that continues to the back vents. Also love the fact that there's no gloss black and that those type of "buttons" can be done with a wood effect. I don't know why other carmakers don't use this instead since it looks more expensive and way more classy and solid. This car is very interesting. Love the interior and exterior design. Mercedes definitely led the industry interior design when the W222 S Class came out in 2013 with the 2 screens side by side. Now everyone is doing it.
Would definitely use sliding back central console. For example: parked in a tight space (happens often in London) and my wife has to use my door to come out or the other way around I have to come out from the passenger’s door. Fantastic add-on.
Went for a test drive in one today. Superb. Has to be seen in person. Ideally see it in gunmetal grey. The ride is comfortable and quiet. Only neg is are the difficult to find when driving haptic drive mode controls.

When you spoke about the name, I recalled similar situations, like in Spain mitsubishi pajero is sold as montero, because pajero in spanish means wanker. In russia renault captur is sold as Kaptur, because otherwise it can be misread as "sartir" in russian, what means toilet. In Portugal hyundai kona is sold under the same name, but the word "cona" (sounds the same as kona) means "count" without "o". This situation happens everywhere.
I really hope Nissan makes a profit on these and builds them by the millions so we can compare the quality apples-to-apples. Quality is useless if they only make xx,000 per year and you can never get one!!
3:41 This issue comes up from time to time simply due to coincidence in pronunciation. It can easily be solved by changing the name of the car locally. The 'pajero' in Mitsubishi Pajero apparently means 'wanker' in Spanish, while 'etron' in Audi e-tron apparently means 'fecal matter' in French.
It’s not easy to find a name compatible for all countries. You mentioned for your country that it was not the best choice for the name. Here too in Québec (Canada). In québécois (in our French slang) it means « full of complications »! And we had a lot of fun with Audi’s e-tron. In our French slang, « étron » means a big humain excrement!😂 Beside the above, you did again a very good video. You give me the temptation to look closer to the Ariya
In my own Belgian French slang Audi choice is also really the worst they could have done but for Ariya I don't see the French word you are referring to.
Having seen the Asian/Chinese models that will hit the European market in 2023+, I think this Nissan’s interior gives us a good idea of the high-quality interiors we can expect in upcoming years. High quality materials, nice finishing, all sorts of newish features. Especially mid-range European brands like VW will need to step up their (now plastic) game to be able to compete.
For Japanese cars, Nissan always beats the competition on interiors, especially for the JDM. Nissan in Europe always seems to follow the herd - black fabric interior.
Nah Nissans had like one of the worse plastics ever! Geely take look at their models, very luxurious and some bits have some hard plastics, and they dont feel bad at all. I say the same for VW same level with Geely both better overall than Nissan. Im referring about ICE cars btw.
FWD is much better than RWD for EV range. The car can regen much harder thanks to the weight change to the front axle. Worse acceleration but better regen. More should do FWD only, unbelivable that so few offer it. and AWD is the most unessesary thing ever for family cars with modern ESC systems
I am located in Canada. I signed for and ordered the Ariya Platinum e-4ORCE Plus AWD Performance with the extended range batteries. I presently have the 2022 Pathfinder Platinum 4WD with full options. I am planning to keep the Pathfinder for long trips and for hard winter conditions, and use the Ariya for local commutes.
Ariya is an Iranian name, Nissan has a history of using Persian names, so don't worry about race implications (although Iran stands for land of the Aryans).
I don't find the Tesla gets too hot. The supercharger network is great too. Having said that, this Nissan looks very nice and the interior is beautiful.
Camera is shaking over inexisting bumps. Car is great, but not enough is said how firm the suspenion is. See other reviews for a cross check about this, all confirm how firm it is, especially considering this is not a sporty ride or powertrain.
Great review as always BUT i think you should start talking about the battery technology as well Since they are coming up with so many new battery technologies. I mean we are hearing about 1milion miles batteries and 10min charging. i wouldnt wanna buy a car with old lithium ion batteries while solid state batteries or whatever they are doing is booming if you know what i mean. I love your channel keep it up. Great work as always.
The electrical compartment box that opens and closes below your needs probably serves as a hidden compartment for cash, wallet, etc. most thieves wouldn’t know it exist and would need to turn on the car to open it.
Nice car. Nice accent. Germans are indeed Aryans so I don't see any problem with the name. This car will sell very well in Murica because of its name .
@@autogefuehl you are right. In America Iranians, arabs are considered caucasian s but not Aryans. Only people of Germanic origin are considered Aryans. Anyway, I am Asian and we love your show.
I think whether it’s a really good EV might also come down to the price. Unfortunately I think it will be competing more with Audi and BMW rather than Hyundai or Kia, so interior quality is relative. OTOH it seems efficient, which will become more and more important in the purchasing decision as consumers become more conversant with EV features. Headroom looked problematic for tall drivers and passengers. Good to see Nissan actually doing something new, rather than their aging combustion lineup and their questionable and inefficient Qashqai hybrid power train.
At that price point they really need to nail things like interior quality - one of my vehicles is an n-vision spec Qashqai which has nice soft touch materials on the higher points of the trim with some accents both aesthetically and lighting wise which superficially looks premium but brittle, rattly, scratchy cheap feeling plastic on the lower parts which immediately destroys any semblance of being a premium grade vehicle.
125 kw peak is slow on a road trip and this is less miles and more expensive than a comparable ev6. This is for the Nissan fans or whoever can find one without markup and who doesn't need to travel long distances.
Well peak is only part of the equation. The peak in this case might be lower than the competition, it stays at this peak for a lot longer. So it evens out in comparison.
I get the manual closing versus mechanical opinion for that center glove compartment but I would hope your kids are never in the copilot seat until they are old enough to know that their hands do not go into the compartment while it’s moving. I do think it would be a nice touch if the made it only passcode or fingerprint accessible in the future because it would be a good place to put valuables in.
9:55 I think it is a kind of a replacement for a lockable glovebox. You can hide stuff away safely. I assume the opening and closing of the middle storage is not working without putting the car in READY mode.
This interior is simply gorgeous, Whoever designed this interior Infinity gotta let this person design their vehicles interior specially the QX55 and get rid of the CVT nonsense. CVT makes no sense in a luxury vehicle unless Infinity ♾ is making cars for rental fleet. Thomas Great review like always.
Build it Ship it in volume Sell it at a price that makes sense Support it Don’t shaft the customer on servicing Don’t lie Nissan Motors Australia are you listening? It’s not that hard!
I would beg Nissan to PLEASE offer the camel/caramel brown interior with a light headliner that they offer in many of their current models as an option for this car as a brighter, but more practical, alternative to black for families with kids and pets. PLEASE NISSAN! 🙂
Fantastic car, already scooped AutoExpress Car of the Year without being sold yet! Car of the Year 2022 and Best Mid-Sized Company Car. My Evolve 87kwh should be ready to pick up at the end of July 😛 Sorry Autogefuhl - having the blue nappa leather interior (with dark blue exterior and 20" wheels.) Update: bit of bad news, won't be ready for end of July, will be beginning of September 😧
The moving console would allow you to get it right where your elbow wants it, regardless of how long or short your legs are. Such a nice dash with no large tablet stuck on. I read that all the windows use double pane glass for noise reduction. I have one ordered. but not sure. Hoping it's a "super" car (not performance) and it makes the decision for me.
Nissan held their cards pretty close to their chest before laying out this hand. Looks like a solid four of a kind with an Ace high! Nicely played Nissan.
Love this car. Regarding the name, they could totally change the name in german markets. In Portugal the Hyundai Kona is Kawai, because Cona is a nasty word in portguese. The market for that car wasn't affected at all, here you see those Hyundai everywhere.
Excellent review as always Thomas and frankly i am impressed from Ariya. Bettter interior from id cars and cheaper at least in greece. The downside is the smaller boot against the ev6, ioniq 5 and the vag group cars
great review - impressive efficiency ---- 300 miles per 60 kW battery ----- I hope Nissan doesn't remove the heat pump from Aryia , Renault has degraded the Megane E-Tech in UK to no option for Heat pump and reduction of multimedia console screen and
@@autogefuehl - worked out the reason for the electric opening middle glove tray - whilst driving easier and less distracting and useful for drivers knickknacks.
It’s irrelevant how nice it is if you can’t buy one. That said, I am glad though that Nissan did do a great job with this EV. The more good EVs there are, the better. Get that production up Nissan!
This positive review bodes well for the new Renault Megane E-Tech EV which, as I understand it, uses the same platform - from what I've seen so far of the Renault, I prefer its styling and size and it should also be a fair bit less expensive than the Ariya.
Thanks Thomas, I was close to an blind order up to your explanation of the heated windshield. This rubbish stopped me from buying a Mach-E and makes the Ariya unbuyable for me. Why on Earth are they doing this?

I would call that high consumption in comparison with my Kona. At an average speed of 60km/h through Munich traffic over 60km trip, I get less than 11KWh/100km
It seems Nissan is really back in business after so many years with super awful Leaf. I just wish they would have made the boot bigger, say 600 liters. Now I would still get a Skoda Enyaq.
You stayed in Yasuragi spa, right? You should have done the intro in the bathrobe from the hotel :))) I liked the hotel and I like the car as well. Amazingly low consumption figures for the size of the car. Thanks for a great review.
I will wait for a 70 mph highway test of the AWD large battery range, hopefully 325-350 miles, it would be fantastic and lead the non Tesla pack. Keeping my E Niro for now, but glad technology is advancing quickly and I hope to purchase something with the above range, AWD, and a beautiful interior/exterior in the next few years.
Not really since Mercedes already beats the Teslas. Its a little less afficient than the Nissan but beats it handily rangewise with a much larger battery pack. The difference in efficiency is also more than explained by Mercedes addition of a lot more equipment and systems. Its kind of an unjust comparison, but lwere comparing EV specs. The Nissan is competitive, EVwise but its not breaking any new ground.
Touch sensitive buttons are impossible to use when ur driving, climate controls should be physical knobs or buttons. Doesn't look that big in the back for passengers, almost every other similar sized ev has substantially more, probably because Nissan have had this design for so long before going to production and never updated it
Great presentation of the Ariya model of Nissan. The important features of the car is well explained. However @10:14, another presenter explained that the folding tray is for a tablet or laptop.
I'm looking to buy next year too. How is your the consumption at constant110km/h? On my test drive, the Passenger Mirror was shaking a por, dos you get that issue? Congratulations!
Again thanks Thomas, great review. You are among the very best. Ariya. I like the name and as a Dane, has lived very close to Germany i understand the hesitation. But just get over it.. the war ended 77 years ago and you have carried the yoke long enough. The car is obviously really good and efficient. But why now and not 2-3 years ago. As you pointed out, they have made Leafs for over a decade. The things I'm missing is a bigger trunk and a small frunk for cables. And i would still prefer RWD. Still i can't wait to see some numbers and consumption form a high-speed test.
I could test this Ariya 63KWh for thirty minutes, 13ºC and no AC/heating, in a mix of 50-30Kmh urban and 110-110Kmh motorway with some acceleration small proofs, and the final consumption result was astonishing! 9.5KWh!!

In québécois (in our French slang) it means « full of complications »! And we had a lot of fun with Audi’s e-tron. In our French slang, « étron » means a big humain excrement!😂
Beside the above, you did again a very good video.
Does it still only come with android play that’s a no no?
People with apple CarPlay won’t buy it
Nah Nissans had like one of the worse plastics ever! Geely take look at their models, very luxurious and some bits have some hard plastics, and they dont feel bad at all. I say the same for VW same level with Geely both better overall than Nissan. Im referring about ICE cars btw.
A bigger Megane EV made in Japan
@@TFSIChristmas then shutup
Thank you Thomas, your reviews are so wonderfully detailed, exactly what I need in choosing a car! Please keep these coming!
highly appreciated! please recommend 😎
FWD is much better than RWD for EV range. The car can regen much harder thanks to the weight change to the front axle. Worse acceleration but better regen. More should do FWD only, unbelivable that so few offer it. and AWD is the most unessesary thing ever for family cars with modern ESC systems
Interesting aspect
Not bad. Nissan is ahead of Toyota in EV development.
Ariya is an Iranian name, Nissan has a history of using Persian names, so don't worry about race implications (although Iran stands for land of the Aryans).
nice
Indo - iranian
LOL SHUT IT. ARIYA CAN MEAN OTHER THINGS OTHER THAN IRANIAN CRAP LOL
PRETTY SURE LEAF IS IRANIAN TOO LOLLLLL
Interesting. Ariya is definitely a good EV.
Thanks for this. I'm picking up my Ariya on Tuesday and this was very helpful.
Cool!
An excellent, non-bias review, always appreciate your honest detailed reviews, Thomas. You are truly the best around.
Amazing UA-cam channel. Thanks Autogefühl !
This will also greatly fit on the infiniti brand....the quality is superb on this model 👏🏽
At least Nissan got rid of the awful piano black plastic on the interior.
Thomas, great explanation on the word Ariya, impressive! Love your depth of reviews.
Like it.. they are made just up the road from me here in the uk. Nice review again Thomas. ✌️
The Ariya is built in Japan. It’s the Juke that’s built in Sunderland.
Didnt find it too stiff, however roads were quite good around Stockholm
I’m still impressed every time I drive my 2018 Tekna leaf .
Highly appreciated! So far they all have similar tech. We ll keep u updated
There's a long way to go from concept to reality for those amazing batteries.
Renders usually have amazing stats.
Aryans are Indo-Iranian people actually…
I understood it was a lap top desk.
I went for a test drive at my local dealer. I am telling you its a great vehicle and I planning to buy it. I will reserve one.
That dash electric storage compartment is great for storing valuables. The glove box and arm rest storage are easy to be stolen from.
Build it
Ship it in volume
Sell it at a price that makes sense
Support it
Don’t shaft the customer on servicing
Don’t lie
Nissan Motors Australia are you listening? It’s not that hard!
I would beg Nissan to PLEASE offer the camel/caramel brown interior with a light headliner that they offer in many of their current models as an option for this car as a brighter, but more practical, alternative to black for families with kids and pets. PLEASE NISSAN! 🙂
Fantastic car, already scooped AutoExpress Car of the Year without being sold yet!
Car of the Year 2022 and Best Mid-Sized Company Car.
My Evolve 87kwh should be ready to pick up at the end of July 😛
Sorry Autogefuhl - having the blue nappa leather interior (with dark blue exterior and 20" wheels.)
Update: bit of bad news, won't be ready for end of July, will be beginning of September 😧
Try to change into the non-animal seating then! :)
Thomas is the best reviewer in the UK, very professional as always and a great test.
Hes german. Yes, a very good reviewer.
Uk lol
The moving console would allow you to get it right where your elbow wants it, regardless of how long or short your legs are.
Such a nice dash with no large tablet stuck on.
I read that all the windows use double pane glass for noise reduction.
I have one ordered. but not sure. Hoping it's a "super" car (not performance) and it makes the decision for me.
So with the new stringent manufacturing law the Ariya will not qualify for the $7500 federal tax credit.
Deal buster for me I'm afraid.
Thomas nicely colour coordinated with the car as usual 😎. Love to see you review a polo 6n harlequin tho ! 😂
A pleasant surprise from Nissan👍
The capacitative buttons integrated in the open pore wood are phenomenal! So beautiful!
Just love it… definitely am I gonna have it. Love from Italy :-)
Online v sensetive ppl would make that connection in german
Excellent review as always Thomas and frankly i am impressed from Ariya. Bettter interior from id cars and cheaper at least in greece. The downside is the smaller boot against the ev6, ioniq 5 and the vag group cars
great review - impressive efficiency ---- 300 miles per 60 kW battery ----- I hope Nissan doesn't remove the heat pump from Aryia , Renault has degraded the Megane E-Tech in UK to no option for Heat pump and reduction of multimedia console screen and
Oh wow
@@autogefuehl - worked out the reason for the electric opening middle glove tray - whilst driving easier and less distracting and useful for drivers knickknacks.
Smaller battery is 63kwh and gets 216 miles.
It’s irrelevant how nice it is if you can’t buy one. That said, I am glad though that Nissan did do a great job with this EV. The more good EVs there are, the better.
Get that production up Nissan!
I have to say, this is the first japanese car that I like it's interior.
Wowowowow. Amazing car and even better review
🙏
Thumbs up to Thomas for testing the middle console closing force with his own fingers.
💪
So good to see an Nissian EV with a CCS port.
Great for Nissan. And of course an outstanding video review! Thank you!
Great review !
Not able to bring the Steering wheel further down and the outdated screen graphics/menu controls are the deal breakers for me personally.
This positive review bodes well for the new Renault Megane E-Tech EV which, as I understand it, uses the same platform - from what I've seen so far of the Renault, I prefer its styling and size and it should also be a fair bit less expensive than the Ariya.
the Renault has a bad design though
Wow, very very efficient! Maybe the most efficient EV on the market. Nice, very nice.
13.0 kWh /100 km at average speed 47 km/h i would say is pretty similar for almost any EV.
Look better than BZ4X
Thanks Thomas, I was close to an blind order up to your explanation of the heated windshield. This rubbish stopped me from buying a Mach-E and makes the Ariya unbuyable for me.
Why on Earth are they doing this?
Efficiency, both in terms of heating and costs. This is a relatively cheap way to efficiently heat/defrost/defog the front window.
In your service. Yeah its the cheapest way to do that. Also it seems to be included in the base trim, actually good that they offer more standard equipment, but ofc some like u and me are sensitive to these wires
@@autogefuehl My wife don't see them at all in Our Workhorse (Ford Ranger) I'm getting headachs
Just for info: Die Fellerstrasse ist immer noch dicht :-)
@@vlepun That might be, but I See them very often and get Real headache when i drive longer in cloudy weather
It would be a deal breaker for me too. Why not use a film or coating instead of lines?
Well done Nissan, this looks ideal 👌
Interiour looks great!! I would never have thought of a Nissan in the first place.
Moveable middle console is somewhat cool
movabale usually translates to "non-solid" and potentially "making annoying sounds"
Very beautiful car.. looks like nissan has a winner on their hands with this one. Very nice indeed. Impressed.
I was so impressed I cancelled my Tesla MY and ordered one of these. My only concern is the way the body seemed to shaked and the road didn;t look that bad.
Nissan Ariya looks good inside & out = so much nicer than Tesla's ! Nissan SUV's have improved in exterior look quite a bit ... Can't say same for sedans & sports cars = in need of better designs ... Slainte' ! Cheers !
I would call that high consumption in comparison with my Kona. At an average speed of 60km/h through Munich traffic over 60km trip, I get less than 11KWh/100km
based on several car reviews I watched, hyundai EVs battery consumption so far are the most efficient in the market
But your Kona is much smaller and lighter car.
Two different sizes and classes that can not really compare
The Kind is a much smaller car!
Really appreciate your honest testing and review!
That interior is so good
Nice review from Stockholm Sweden at beautiful japanese yasuragi spa
Cheers!
Yep, it's a laptop stand so you can work whilst doing a rapid charge.
Bought one....absolutely love it!
Me too! 😁
I'm looking to buy next year too. How is your the consumption at constant110km/h? On my test drive, the Passenger Mirror was shaking a por, dos you get that issue? Congratulations!
"that's a great surround sound" ha ha ha
ich musste lachen Thomas, wenn Du mit offenen Türen die Bose Anlage testest
Puts VW to shame for the ID.3 and ID.4. Definitely on my shopping list.
Thanks for your review looks great 👍
Please share 😎
Thomas, how do you compare this to the ID4 in terms of built quality and rides? It is still not available in the US.
Fantastic review as usual with you guys.
👌👌
Again thanks Thomas, great review. You are among the very best.
Ariya. I like the name and as a Dane, has lived very close to Germany i understand the hesitation. But just get over it.. the war ended 77 years ago and you have carried the yoke long enough.
The car is obviously really good and efficient.
But why now and not 2-3 years ago. As you pointed out, they have made Leafs for over a decade.
The things I'm missing is a bigger trunk and a small frunk for cables. And i would still prefer RWD. Still i can't wait to see some numbers and consumption form a high-speed test.
